1980's AOR band from Detroit, USA.This short-lived, American melodic rock quintet was formed in 1980 by the talented vocalist Mark Bucchare, with guitarist Pat Hand, keyboard player Mark Heckert, bass player Bradley Davidson and drummer David Pridemore completing the line-up. Their music was characterized by note-perfect harmonies, razor-sharp arrangements and understated guitar work. Their self-titled debut, however, lacked both the image and real direction necessary to elevate them above the numerous other Styx / Kansas / Journey clones around at the time. Disillusioned by the lack of recognition and label support, they disbanded the following year.

This solitary release from American band ALLIANCE is a true AOR classic that well and truly slipped under the radar in 1982.A Detroit band, they initially went under the name of Flight, before changing to ALLIANCE. Released on Handshake Records, the home of rock bands like Sneaker, Bruzer, Van Stephenson and Berlin Airlift, it proved to be a debut that simply oozed quality and a sound to die for. The original truly awful cover art, which wasn’t the band’s first choice, belied the absolute treasure that was stored within.The stunning and world class vocals of Mark Bucchare are what makes this album stand out, it’s seen him likened to Lou Gramm, Franke Previte and Fergie Frederiksen over the years and criminally he’s done nothing on record since.It’s an album that will instantly remind you of Franke & The Knockouts, Toto, Le Roux and a whole host of other AOR bands. Just have a listen to the likes of ‘How Does It Feel’, the incredible ‘Stop’, the totally Le Roux sound of ‘Make It Right’ or the pure Franke & The Knockouts vibe of ‘Heaven Can Wait’ and prepare to be blown away.It can be placed alongside the likes of the equally as good All Sports Band and Automatix releases as a stone-cold classic of cult American AOR, one that totally deserves this reissue that finally does them justice.It now also comes with two, never released bonus-cuts, a new improved cover artwork and a rich 16 pages booklet, full of pics, memorabilia, flyers and press-cuts, with the usual liner notes written by Rob “AOR master” Evans.
