Bio:

HIGHWAY…a pure Hard Rock'n'Roll music n' live war machine!!The band comes from Montpellier, in the South of France, and was created by two brothers Ben and Romain Chambert (respectively guitarist and drummer).Their musical influences come from such legends as AC/DC, KISS, Whitesnake, ZZ Top, Guns ‘n’ Roses or Aerosmith. In 2002, for their second participation at the Duels Rock, in the famous club of Montpellier: The Rockstore, Highway took the first place. The prize for winning this competition was the production of their first album “Have a Beer!”In 2005, in Ole Duke Hill’s and Matt E. West‘s “Trendkill Studio”, HIGHWAY recorded their second album “Goodbye Money”.This album, much more professional than the previous one, allowed Highway to obtain the distribution of the two albums by “Brennus Music Records”.bio2.jpgDuring the first part of 2009, HIGHWAY participated and won Rock Challenge organized by the famous club “The New Capricorne“. The first prize was to give a series of unforgettable gigs in London.June 2010, J.M Gantard, first bass player left the band for the classical musical differences. He was immediately replaced by Sam Marshal, HIGHWAY’s fan since long years and amazing Rock’n’Roll bass player.2011…back to Trendkill Studios, where HIGHWAY recorded their new album called “United States of Rock’n’Roll”. This record is due to a very hard and long work, in which every member of the band has put all their energy, faith and passion. This album is by far the most accomplished, powerful and devastating of the crew.Today, with 3 albums, powerful songs and more than 250 gigs in Europe sharing the main stage with bands like Gotthard, Dr. Feelgood, Crucified Barbara, Adam Bomb or Jeff Scott Soto, the band is highly motivated to tour more and more across the world and to electrify the crowd with their “good words of Heavy Rock”.Get ready for a giant dose of Rock n’Roll and amazing live performance!

Album:

Deriving from their influences of AC/DC, KISS, Whitesnake, Guns ‘N Roses and Aerosmith, the band delivers up the goods on their third album (and second full length release) ‘United States of Rock ‘N’ Roll.Formed in 2000, Highway is a group of Hard Rock loudly proclaiming their influences: AC / DC, Deep Purple, Aerosmith and other Kiss. With their growing course and a few line-up changes, the Sétois Highway birth of their third album, "United States Of Rock N Roll". And much to say right now, once the cake inserted in the reader, can guess right away what our ears will confront: Hard Rock old school smelling parties, beer and sweat. The album begins with "Become Someone", and is immersed directly into the atmosphere. It's fast, it makes you want to move the foot. The guitars are aggressive, low battery duo groove and the voice of Benjamin Folch is not unlike that of Dexter Holland (Offspring), and more serious but can easily grow in the treble. The group demonstrates its expertise and its influences throughout the album. The titles "I Like It", the title track "United States Of Rock N Roll" or "Highway o 'Love" are perfect examples. The riffs are very Australian, effective solos, singing is furious and choirs make you want to raise his fist and yelling with them."United States Of Rock N Roll" consists of songs a little more dispensable and two walks, including an acoustic ("On My Knees") could very well be on one of the last albums by Lynyrd Skynyrd. Finally, the performance is there, the musicians are good (special mention on singing and guitars) and some titles have (almost) nothing to envy the greatest. However, it lacks a little something that could pass this "United States Of Rock n Roll" to the excellent album status. Nevertheless, it remains an album possèder if, like me, you love Rock 'n' Roll. So we listen this group without moderation. Because they are French and that's Rock n Roll. And also because it will have to think about the future of the Hard Rock when all our favorite grandpas will be in retirement homes.

Album:

Back to France and back to guitars. In fact, "back" seems to be an excellent word to start this review. This is a neat throwback into some of the golden eras of rock 'n roll music. It blends the heavy blues of the seventies with the glam of the eighties and the roughness of the nineties. The band was formed in Montpellier, apparently inspired by everything between Whitesnake, ZZ Top, Motley Crue, Guns 'n Roses, The Scorpions, Deep Purple and Kiss. With all those names, obviously one question remains: how does HighWay cope with all these influences?Well, from the very first tones of opener 'Brotherhood', the answer to that question is "excellent". What a stomper this song is. It immediately sets the tone for the entire album. With heavy rock, catchy chorus and flashing guitar solos, HighWay embody the definition of "good old fashioned rock music". The other songs follow that example. "Pole Dancing Song" breathes a southern atmosphere, Coyote Ugly kind of stuff, but with better music. "Wake Up" is somewhat slower but still a more than decent blues rock tune. Guest vocalist here is Jeff Scott Soto (ex-Yngwie Malmsteen, Talisman, Journey .... From then on, the band constantly balances on the edges between blues and vintage hard rock. Besides, they perform it with great precision. These guys can handle their instruments, that's for sure. Furthermore, Benjamin Folch is an excellent vocalist. He can carry the blues just as easily as the rough edge of rock music. In 'Boogie Wave' he suddenly reminded me of Midnight Oil and shortly after I heard a James Hetfield comparison. But before you think HighWay is just another hard rock clone, these French dudes certainly mastered their trade.I also like the backing vocals. Very often, the bassist and guitarist take their place behind a microphone. The result is great and adds a lot to the power and epic atmosphere of the whole thing. Yes, epic, this music sounds like it belongs on massive stages and in huge arenas. Songs like 'Psycho Lover' and 'Say Your Prayers' can easily set festivals on fire. The album closes with two nice surprises, the very odd sounding 'Chemical Trip' and the blues rocker 'Separate Ways'. So yes, great album but now I'm hungry to see this live...

Bio:

Based in the South of France, HighWay is an electrifying band that has been shaking up and rocking the European music scene with its dynamic sound and energetic performances. Blending elements of rock, hard-rock, blues and heavy-metal, HighWay creates a musical experience that is both danceable and toe curling. Over the years, HighWay has built a strong following, earning a reputation for their live shows that leave audiences telling all their friends. Whether they're performing at intimate venues or larger festivals, the band’s chemistry and passion for music shine through, making each performance a memorable event. With six albums and over 500 European shows under their belt, “HighWay” has sold its soul to the demons of rock to get you headbanging, stomping your feet, and reminding you of what true rock ‘n’ roll is all about: raw and organic! Hailing from Sète (near Montpellier), the band draws inspiration from legends like AC/DC, Whitesnake, KISS, Guns N’ Roses, and Aerosmith, yet has developed its own distinct style: a masterful blend of the best of the ’80s and ’90s—all while infusing it with genuine uniqueness and heartfelt sincerity. After sharing some of Europe’s finest stages as the opening act for international bands such as the Michael Schenker Group, Gotthard, Jeff Scott Soto, Kissin’ Dynamite, Nashville Pussy, Electric Mary, and Enuff Z’Nuff… HighWay is now one of the must-see names in the “new wave of European classic hard rock”! With “Last Call For Rock’N’Roll,” the band delivers its sixth album, crafted with passion under the guidance of producer Brett Caldas-Lima (known for his work with Ayreon, Devin Townsend, Megadeth, Adagio, Hypno5e…). On the album, 12 rich, intense, deep, and catchy new tracks come together to create a true explosion of classy, melodic, and open-hearted Hard Rock’N’Roll—a secret known only to HighWay! Let yourself be swept away into their world and catch them live on the 2026/2027 tour! Don’t miss “The Last Call For Rock’N’Roll”!

Album:

Reputed French hard rock band HIGHWAY will release their sixth studio album, ”Last Call for Rock’n’Roll”, on April 24, 2026 via Pride & Joy Music, and we’re featuring it in exclusive at here. This album marks a return to a louder, electric sound following their 2022 acoustic detour, with a new guitarist in the line up that put on fire these electrifying 12 tracks!Joining founding brothers Ben and Romain are bassist Cerise Pouillard (formerly of AC/DC tribute Ladies Ballbreaker) and guitarist Florian Arnaud, whose addition brings twin-guitar firepower and massive backing vocals to the band’s sound.Produced, mixed and mastered by Brett Caldas-Lima (Ayreon, Devin Townsend, Megadeth), musically the new album blend power, melody, and emotion in a timeless classic hard rock spirit. Seriously, HIGHWAY never sounded this good. From high-octane anthems like ‘Bang Bang!‘ and ‘Go! Go! Go!‘ to intimate ballads like ‘Mayday‘, the record takes us back to 1989 and at the same time reverberates alongside the best of current rock n’ roll.Kicking off the CD, the title track is pure rock ‘n’ roll indeed. Catchy as Hell and gets you in the mood for the rest of the record.Sizzling solos and riffs set us up nicely.“Hi-Way” follows and continues the rocking vibe, albeit slightly more subdued. Some nice Steve Vai affectations early on with a pop-prog feel later. Cool track. Folch’s vocals are distinct with the bonus of the French accent, similar in a way to Klaus Mein’s German-accented vocals. He has a slightly raspy vocal which is suited to the many styles of track on the album.“Bang Bang!” changes things up slightly with its comment on “living a fantasy-filled superficial life or choosing a simpler life shaped by fear, judgment, and moral consequence” – the band’s words. Musically, it’s a belter with funky guitar work and some great drum fills.“Nineties Action Movie” speaks for itself and is a boogie-laden nod to our favourite movies of the decade. “Peace Out” is a much more serious and classy affair, documenting the end of a long relationship. Beautiful melody envelops heartfelt vocals. One of the album highlights.More variation next but of the acoustic variety with “Mayday”. A track which invokes Seventies campfire vibes, but don’t let that put you off. Melancholic vocals about mourning the loss of a loved one could well bring a tear to your eye.“Go!, Go!, Go!” is a stormer of a track, picking you up and dragging you towards fist pumping, screaming euphoria. A toe-tapping, head nodding, singalong belter. The uptempo continues with “Let Me”, including an exceptionally uplifting guitar solo from Ben Chambert. The mood is taken midtempo on “D.K./D.C.”, but power is still there. It’s Don’t Know / Don’t Care, if you hadn’t figured that one out. Basically fuck the haters, live your own life. Folch puts extra spite into his vocals on this one, to great effect.“Rat Race” follows the well-trodden path of music over the decades bemoaning the drudgery of life on the hamster wheel for what? Nothing much really. Despite its serious subject matter, it’s still a rockin’ winner that you can get fully into. The fastest and heaviest track on Last Call For Rock ‘n’ Roll is the killer “Action”, which is more of an instruction than a noun. Get out there and rock! Completing the album is “(Don’t) Look Back”, which possesses a multitude of parts. There’s rockabilly, a Queen riff, a slow build-up to a delicately played solo, increased emotion, an Eagles-like passage, and a gentle finish. Five minutes gone in the blink of an eye. Truly beautiful.”Last Call for Rock’n’Roll” represents the past, present and future of HIGHWAY’s rock ‘n’ roll history of which the band has been part of for the last 3 decades touring all over Europe as headliner or supporting the greats, and with 6 albums under their belt. You can hear the confidence, and solid songwriting and tight performances all over ”Last Call for Rock’n’Roll”, easily their best produced, with a punchy crisp sonic output.
