Creye is a brand new Swedish supergroup created by Andreas Gullstrand. The genre is melodic rock with a touch of 80's retro. And only the sky is the limit!The idea of Creye was born in Malmö, Sweden in early 2015.After many years of playing in different bands, guitarist & songwriter Andreas Gullstrand felt that it was time to turn it all up a notch.The vision was to start a new Swedish supergroup that would take you on a journey right back to the glory-full days of the eighties, both musically and visually on stage.After spending nearly two months just experimenting with the sound of the band, Andreas settled on what could best be described as a slick melodic rock sound with a touch of 80's retro wave in the mix.Since there were no room for errors, the decision to hire studio musicians for the first song was made almost immediately. He also didn't want anyone interfering with the songwriting and creative process.The most crucial part was finding a singer with the right voice for this. A singer that not only had a great voice, but also the ability to put som heart and feeling into it. And after only a few days of searching Andreas came across this youtube video of Alexander Strandell singing the debut single "Moving on" by his band Art nation on Swedish Idol. And it just completely blew his mind.The next day Alexander was asked if he would be interested in singing on the debut song for Creye and the rest is history.With one of the best singers in Sweden on-board Andreas felt that he could finally proceed with his plans for the band. He then contacted producer and keyboard player Erik Wiss to kind of make sure that he was going in the right direction with this and also to push him out of his comfort-zone. Erik and Andreas had worked together previously and had a great creative chemistry between them.With about five songs written, Andreas and Erik both agreed that Never Too Late would be the perfect debut for Creye!As the recording grew closer Andreas still hadn't found a suiting drummer or a bass player. And this was really becoming a fast growing issue. But one day out of the blue Alexander contacted him, asking if everything was going okay. And if he had musicians enough to record everything. And he suggested that Andreas would consider using the then new drummer in Art nation to do the job.As it turned out Carl Tudén was a prodigy to say the least. Having won the Swedish drum championship the previous year. This guy was more than qualified for the job.Due to the fact that both Alexander and Carl were located in Gothenburg it was decided that drums and vocals would be recorded at the highly recommended Top Floor studios that’s located right in the heart of Gothenburg. Jakob Hermann who owns the place is well known all over the world for his amazing recording and arranging skills.And the work he did on both the drum & vocal parts just took Never Too Late to an whole other level.As for the bass part it was actually Erik that suggested Linus Abrahamson. Linus has previously played with great bands like Andromeda and Freak kitchen. And a more well prepared and professional musician would be hard to find. He actually saved Creye nearly half a day of studio-time doing the whole thing in three takes. Two of them being soundcheck and arranging takes.To make sure everything was played to perfection even on the guitar parts Andreas felt that it could be a interesting learning experience to actually hire a studio-musician even for that. Just to see how a session guitarist would play it.And there were only one guy that was good enough for the job.That guy was Andrée Theander from the Theander Expression.What came back from Andrée was a very good guitar arrangement to say the least.So it's actually both Andreas and Andrée that's playing the rhythm guitar parts on Never Too Late.The very last thing that was tracked were the vocal harmonies. Since already half of Art nation was involved in Creye Andreas asked Christoffer Borg as well. Christoffer is actually (besides from playing guitar in Art nation) the singer of the AOR band Taste. And is a very talented singer indeed.And his voice worked very well for the harmony parts.With all the bits and pieces in place Erik mixed the whole thing and Thomas Plec did the mastering. The end result was just flawless!This is just the beginning of the Swedish Supergroup Creye!

CREYE is a brand new AOR / melodic rock band that was created in Malmö, Sweden in early 2015 by guitarist Andreas Gullstrand. Taking as influence the AOR / arena style from the glorious decade plus a modern sonic approach bringing to mind the first H.E.A.T - mostly due to excellent vocalist Alexander Strandell (Art Nation, ex Diamond Dawn) which reminds me Kenny Leckremo - Creye delivers 3 awesome tracks that leave us hungry for more."Straight to the Top" and "Never Too Late" are two little gems full of awesome keyboards, soaring vocals and choruses to die for. Frontiers Music has thrilled us with the announce of the upcoming release of the self-titled debut album from one of the world’s hottest Melodic Rock / AOR newcomers, CREYE.Although the album is not out until 12th October, this Japanese advanced edition will appear tomorrow, including a bonus track.Creye was put together by Grand Design guitarist Andreas Gullstrand in early 2015. After playing in different bands over the years, Andreas felt that it was time to turn it up a notch. His vision was to start a new Swedish AOR / rock&pop sensation that would take listeners on a journey back to the glory days of the '80s, both musically and visually.After spending time experimenting with the sound of the band, he settled on what can be described as a slick melodic rock sound with a strong '80s retro feel in the mix.Creye debuted in late 2016 with the single ‘Never Too Late’, which caused an immediate stir in the international AOR scene with outstanding reviews and immediate talk of the band potentially being the ‘next big thing’ to come out of Sweden.In March 2017, the three song EP ‘Straight To The Top’ was released and featured here at 0dayrox, showcasing a more mature and evolved sound. Andreas continued working on the songwriting and crafting of new, more ambitious melodic rockers with thoughts of what would eventually become the band’s self-titled debut in mind.While Creye’s music is clearly influenced by the classy sounds of the '80s, Andreas is no stranger to more modern production techniques. “I’m personally a '90s kid, so I guess the '80s was still pretty relevant in mainstream media and pop culture when I was growing up,” he said.“But something has always been very appealing to me about the '80s for as long as I can remember and that is subconsciously expressed through the music. Swedish AOR wonders CREYE delighted us last year with their self-titled debut album. Since vocalist August Rauer joined the band at the end of 2018, Creye has been recording songs from the first CD with new arrangements and an acoustic format. While some of these have been released as standalone singles, now Creye is presenting the EP “Up Close” including these tracks and more.We have here songs from the full length album like ‘Holding On (Acoustic)’, ‘Miracle (Acoustic)’ and ‘Never Too Late (Acoustic)’ re-worked, and showing that despite “Creye” has a huge production, these songs born with at acoustic guitar at hand, or a simple piano, like a good song should be written.Then we hear the new, non album track “Lost Without You”. This is an acoustic / electric song they wrote while working on the acoustic version of “Holding On”. Apart for being a lovely melodic tune, it’s their first new song with new lead vocalist August Rauer and keyboardist Joel Selsfors.A extra, we added “Straight To The Top (Acoustic)”, the original Japanese bonus track and which perfectly fits this EP.

Swedish rockers Creye will return with a second studio album, "II". The album sees the band's songwriting and playing jumping by leaps and bounds to put them at the forefront of the Swedish melodic rock scene. After releasing the critically acclaimed EP "Straight To The Top" early 2017, Creye signed a multi-album deal with Frontiers and released a self-titled debut album in October 2018 to much acclaim from press and fans. After announcing that August Rauer would be the new frontman for the band late 2018, Creye toured in Sweden and Europe in 2019, including appearing at the Melodicrock Fest, Frontiers Rock Sweden and the Rockingham Festival. Creye regrouped in the studio late 2019 to start working on the follow-up album to the self-titled debut. The plan was to refine and improve the songs and approach. Just to see how a session guitarist would play it.And there were only one guy that was good enough for the job.That guy was Andrée Theander from the Theander Expression.What came back from Andrée was a very good guitar arrangement to say the least.So it's actually both Andreas and Andrée that's playing the rhythm guitar parts on Never Too Late.The very last thing that was tracked were the vocal harmonies. Since already half of Art nation was involved in Creye Andreas asked Christoffer Borg as well. Christoffer is actually (besides from playing guitar in Art nation) the singer of the AOR band Taste. And is a very talented singer indeed.And his voice worked very well for the harmony parts.With all the bits and pieces in place Erik mixed the whole thing and Thomas Plec did the mastering. The end result was just flawless!This is just the beginning of the Swedish Supergroup Creye!

Swedish rockers Creye will return with a second studio album, "II". The album sees the band's songwriting and playing jumping by leaps and bounds to put them at the forefront of the Swedish melodic rock scene. After releasing the critically acclaimed EP "Straight To The Top" early 2017, Creye signed a multi-album deal with Frontiers and released a self-titled debut album in October 2018 to much acclaim from press and fans. After announcing that August Rauer would be the new frontman for the band late 2018, Creye toured in Sweden and Europe in 2019, including appearing at the Melodicrock Fest, Frontiers Rock Sweden and the Rockingham Festival. Creye regrouped in the studio late 2019 to start working on the follow-up album to the self-titled debut. The plan was to refine and improve the songs and approach. The band's strong determination shines through on this new record, which sounds incredibly cohesive and diverse.Creye was started in 2015 by Andreas Gullstrand. His vision was to start a new Swedish pop/rock sensation that would take listeners on a journey back to the glory days of the eighties, both musically and visually. After spending nearly two months experimenting with the sound of the band, Andreas settled on what could best be described as a slick melodic rock sound with a touch of 80s retro in the mix.If you are into bands such as Work Of Art, Art Nation, One Desire and early H.e.a.t, then this band is for you! Creye is a brand new Swedish supergroup created by Andreas Gullstrand. The genre is melodic rock with a touch of 80's retro. And only the sky is the limit!The idea of Creye was born in Malmö, Sweden in early 2015.After many years of playing in different bands, guitarist & songwriter Andreas Gullstrand felt that it was time to turn it all up a notch.The vision was to start a new Swedish supergroup that would take you on a journey right back to the glory-full days of the eighties, both musically and visually on stage.After spending nearly two months just experimenting with the sound of the band, Andreas settled on what could best be described as a slick melodic rock sound with a touch of 80's retro wave in the mix.Since there were no room for errors, the decision to hire studio musicians for the first song was made almost immediately. He also didn't want anyone interfering with the songwriting and creative process.The most crucial part was finding a singer with the right voice for this. A singer that not only had a great voice, but also the ability to put som heart and feeling into it. And after only a few days of searching Andreas came across this youtube video of Alexander Strandell singing the debut single "Moving on" by his band Art nation on Swedish Idol. And it just completely blew his mind.The next day Alexander was asked if he would be interested in singing on the debut song for Creye and the rest is history.With one of the best singers in Sweden on-board Andreas felt that he could finally proceed with his plans for the band. He then contacted producer and keyboard player Erik Wiss to kind of make sure that he was going in the right direction with this and also to push him out of his comfort-zone. Erik and Andreas had worked together previously and had a great creative chemistry between them.With about five songs written, Andreas and Erik both agreed that Never Too Late would be the perfect debut for Creye!As the recording grew closer Andreas still hadn't found a suiting drummer or a bass player. And this was really becoming a fast growing issue. But one day out of the blue Alexander contacted him, asking if everything was going okay. And if he had musicians enough to record everything. And he suggested that Andreas would consider using the then new drummer in Art nation to do the job.As it turned out Carl Tudén was a prodigy to say the least. Having won the Swedish drum championship the previous year. This guy was more than qualified for the job.Due to the fact that both Alexander and Carl were located in Gothenburg it was decided that drums and vocals would be recorded at the highly recommended Top Floor studios that’s located right in the heart of Gothenburg. Jakob Hermann who owns the place is well known all over the world for his amazing recording and arranging skills.And the work he did on both the drum & vocal parts just took Never Too Late to an whole other level.As for the bass part it was actually Erik that suggested Linus Abrahamson. Linus has previously played with great bands like Andromeda and Freak kitchen. And a more well prepared and professional musician would be hard to find. He actually saved Creye nearly half a day of studio-time doing the whole thing in three takes. Two of them being soundcheck and arranging takes.To make sure everything was played to perfection even on the guitar parts Andreas felt that it could be a interesting learning experience to actually hire a studio-musician even for that. Swedish melodic rock act Creye have today released a special live EP entitled ‘Alive And Well’ on all digital music platforms with a video of the full performance also available to watch on YouTube. Recorded at a studio in Bjuv (southern Sweden), the EP follows the band’s well received second album, ‘II’, which was released in January 2021.Creye was founded in 2015 by guitarist Andreas Gullstrand and signed to Frontiers two years later. A self-titled debut album followed in late 2018, swiftly followed by the appointment of August Rauer as the group’s new frontman. Much of 2019 was spent touring around mainland Europe, as well as writing new songs, after which they entered the studio to record ‘II’, which refined and improved their sound on a record that sounds diverse yet cohesive.

As with their last album "II", this new album sees the band’s songwriting and playing jumping by leaps and bounds to put them at the forefront of the Swedish melodic rock scene. With an album and live EP as well as multiple gigs under their belt, this line-up of Creye has truly gelled and that cohesiveness shines through on "III: Weightless". Fans of the band's previous work won't be disappointed and will also be thankful that the band has managed to evolve while staying familiar.
