Year : 2015
Style : Melodic Folk Death Metal
Country : Switzerland
Audio : 320 kbps + all scans
Size : 105 mb
Bio:
With the prominent use of clean vocals and violin, people might be tempted to put a certain label on Hedera. We try our best to make this impossible.Be it speedy thrash, grooving death or shredding black metal, we play and mix what we like. By blending in gentle clean vocals and violin melodies, we strive to create our very own thing. After the foundation of the band in November 2011, we immediately started writing songs and were able to release our first demo in January 2013. After playing our first concerts and further work on our songs, the second demo “Entwined” was released in summer 2014. Our first studio-recorded full-length Album Itinera was released on November 13, 2015.
Album:
Hedera called the quintet from the Thun region - Latin for Ivy - and as the eponymous greenhouse climbs the high band along its host genre Death Metal. But She skillfully combines elements of folk and black metal with the classic Death Metal and so generate their very own sound. That they have done this already with their first album, speaks for Hedera. What even more speaks for them, is the fact that they have ventured on their debut album equal to a concept album. Itinera tells the story of a married couple at the time of industrialization - an exciting time, to the contemporary art too little is discussed - from collection of machines in the working world, on major diseases and war up to the (supposedly) final end. What a same notice at the beginning, is the dual vocals - Mike's grim growls and Iris' crystal clear voice - by can tell wonderful the story of the couple. During Mike's vocals were often mixed a little too quiet in the sound mix, the lyrics by Iris rays wonderfully by the heavy riffs and the beats of the drums. The concept is not new; Bands like Epica or Leaves' Eyes use this combination for years. Nevertheless, Hedera not sounds like a copy of these bands. The mere use of the violin it is clear from the aforementioned artists.Normally I would dissect and analyze the individual pieces at this point. But in the booklet the following link:This album was recorded with an ulterior motive in our head. A common thread runs through the album, a story that is waiting to be discovered. As you read the lyrics and you anhörst the songs, we hope that you will discover your own version of this story. Therefore we also can not help you in the interpretation. Nothing further, as you restrict to a single version of it would be us.(Freely translated by me, the English version reads better. But even without the content of the lyrics to elaborate, I can confidently say that has given anyone much effort here, a tragic story to package profound. The music works wonderfully for people who have a damn about the lyrics scissors, but offers just for those who want to deal with the texts, a lot of depth. Goths know something of ASP whose songs also are always very danceable, but always include a second level in the singing. The nine songs are constructed varied and always surprise with new elements, which I will not reveal at this point. I must also say that I have taken part in the Wemakeit campaign to finance the disk at this point. That is because I have due to the samples, which have provided Hedera available, found that the band has potential.Potential, my ass! They have blossomed into newcomer of the year. Not the simplest fare, but certainly one of the bekömmlichsten. So the future of the Swiss Metals sounds. If then even the few pronunciation errors are adjusted and in future no such evil Photoshop crime more land in the booklet, it looks good for Hedera. From this debut album, many international bands can still cut a fat disc. One of my five favorite pieces of silver this year.
