Bio:
Following this line of text might read "Krayenzeit" the motto of the band. Which one would have but a big "Once Upon a Time" premise, because in the late 90s and beginning of the new millennium, a formation founded under the name "Fëanor" that was the direct predecessor band of Krayenzeit. After two years, however, severed after the dissolution of the band the way of "Angel" (including "Saidian"), Jo Lappel and Alex Reichert.Quite exactly 10 years later ran all three randomly in Esslingen in a bar again on the way and it was decided to finally take the old songs from "Fëanor" in good quality. Chris Zoschke ("epiphora", "Scars for Proof") and Daniel Martin ("Karkadan", "Lifthrasil", "Scars for Proof") came to the old hull band to and completed the preliminary project in the fall 2011th.However, this project evolved relatively quickly to a new and serious band. New songs were written and revised the old completely. With Karin Bußmann on violin and Julia Groth strengthened the band and gave the name "Krayenzeit".
Album:
Medieval or even folk-rock bands there to Hauf. Yet the fascination with the ancient and style-defining instruments in interaction with modern rock sounds continues to be a phenomenon and in many cases even a melodious it. One of the newer formations which has turned to the genre, the Stuttgart band Krayenzeit. Here it is not so new, since under the name of Feanor members played music in the late 90s before another, but the actors have lost after some time out of his eyes. About a decade later, one has then met again and the project turned together with other musicians in 2011 intensively Krayenzeit. It was busy the "old" rewritten and "new" composed. In addition to many live performances is now finally also a long-awaited studio album waiting in the wings: "On Dark Swing" comes on 19 June in the trade."Intro" we hear mandatory crows cry. After slight choral singing and a female voice, the album starts with the band anthem "Krayenzeit" strong and impulsive by. Loud bagpipes guitars agree peppy one, as then superadded singer Markus Engel, one inevitably recalls the Schulz from fornication, and yet has a unique timbre. The song is fast, catchy and invites you to sing along - the perfect opener so. "Night Birds" begins with gentle sounds of the Middle Ages, before ending in brutal riffing. Especially the chorus is just a blast because the voting immensely strong frontman provides already at this point for a little goosebumps. After the cheerful, encouraging "from the ride Across the Sea", the one puts a smile in the face and truly a Met can yearn for celebration, followed by mystical singing without instrumental deposit. Then set to "fire dance" a fat-produced guitar with a massive metal riff. I can only advise everyone to listen to this song again, because the melody is a stunner and the chorus a true anthem. What a song! "From your loins" is a wistful mid-tempo track, which nevertheless does not dispense with the groovy guitars. The sound of the album is generally bulky and obvious, yet this does not affect ironed or perfect, but is provided with a certain roughness.Krayenzeit "Vogelfrey" is an acoustic ballad then that invites you to compensate for dreaming. Overall prove Krayenzeit unmistakable play and also composition joy. Each instrument has its own track that plays along either the subject or gets a different theme. In spite of everything you have to say that the musicians do not have to reinvent the genre, really surprising new takes on the whole album not. Technically the band is classified but unquestionably in the top league in which it is probably one of the metallastigsten representatives, because the guitars take over the lead role on this album. The second half of the work convinces. I would like to highlight the rapid and sweeping "We have awoken" because this hymn reflects its by far the best song again, is for me definitely one of the most grandiose folk rock / metal numbers at all! With its atmospheric conclusion "A Farewell" - only with acoustic guitar, a little violin and the voice of the front man intones, the band for the coronation goes one better. Although the idea of one's own funeral since Alligatoah with his "funeral song" pretty sealed at the latest and is known to go here especially the orchestration under the skin. In addition to the album, there is the way yet to download track "Rum Sherry's Ladies", which manifests itself as a mix of the best of Irish Folk and piracy folksongs. Although this does not fit so the album, but it's really amusing to listen. A great touch! Conclusion: Although Krayenzeit is no reinvention of the genre managed "On Dark Swing", makes the album simply fun. It convinces with catchy heavy choruses, catchy melodies, a great sound and very metal and guitar-based songs. An absolute recommendation to all those who already love the band and to those who do not yet know!
