Bio:

Armory was formed in the late summer of 2012. We released our first demo Open Fire in November 2013 and in February 2015 our second demo "S.M.I" (Speed Metal Island) was released, dedicated to the metalscene in Hisingen, Gothenburg.Formed in 2012 with very few line-up interruptions since, Armory might appear to have somewhat predictably hit upon their best musical ‘self’ after digging away at modern-yet-throwback speed/heavy metal for ten years, at least if we are enjoying the grimy sing-along power-thrashing of ‘Mercurion‘ in a bubble. A quick rip through their first two records suggests they’d more-or-less hit their stride just beyond their second demo (‘S.M.I.‘, 2015). Though it does seem as if they’d been tempering their over the top power metal sized but hard-thrashing sound, heavily influenced by Agent Steel, Helstar, and a fairly obvious host of German speed metal acts, over the course of two full-lengths for High Roller Records (‘World Peace… Cosmic War‘, 2016 / ‘The Search‘, 2018) it’d been for the sake of skilling themselves up, working up to the point that they could pull off something as big as those influences should suggest. A certain ‘epic’ sense of storytelling is the ideal in mind beyond that point, wherein the truth of it seems to be that a sort of post-’85 power/speed metal sound with a strong-galloped melodic component couldn’t have come without reigning in their most raw habits and aiming for a more dramatically stated concept album, hence ‘Mercurion‘.

Album:

DYING VICTIMS PRODUCTIONS is proud to present the highly anticipated fourth album of Sweden’s ARMORY, Echoes of the Astrolith, on CD and vinyl LP formats.Like a meteor plunging through outer space with one target in mind – Planet Earth – Gothenburg’s ARMORY have been launching alien speed metal invasions across the globe since 2012. The fiery stars of Judas Priest, Agent Steel, and Slayer have been their guiding light, but ARMORY have magickally managed to make manifest their own unique, vast world across three albums and last year’s Black Star EP.That EP, while still within the orbit of their characteristic sound, kicked things into overdrive – but with the imminent release of their fourth album, Echoes of the Astrolith, ARMORY truly kick things into an even higher gear. Fans will recognize the arrival of new turbo-laser vocalist C. Rostoff, who immediately makes his presence known. His dynamic & daring pipes rocket all across space here, narrating the dread tales of the album’s nine primary tracks (“Omens” is a suitably titled instrumental). But more than Rostoff’s vocal performance, arguably, the biggest change in ARMORY’s cosmic armory is a decidedly darker, heavier, and perhaps even eviler sound: speed metal, yes, but more blitzing, barraging, and RELENTLESS than ever. Indeed, with song structures touching the technical and the players utterly locked-in, Echoes of the Astrolith seemingly zooms from one end of the starry void to the other with obscene zeal. To call this record a “speed metal U.F.O.” would not be inaccurate. Enter ARMORY’s menacing, pitch-black parallel universe only if you dare!
