Album:
Third album of guitar-driven Hard Rock n' Roll.Colorado Twin-Guitar quintet Dirty Kings are back with their third album of well-written and well-executed Hard Rock.Expanding on their previous albums Crown Jewel (2021) and Sinners In Saints (2018), the long-awaited Dirty Kings III release sees the band moving in both heavier and more melodic directions."We were super happy with what we delivered with Crown Jewel, and we felt that we needed to just let the newer material come organically instead of mapping out what style of songs we wanted on this third album", explains lead singer Andrew Sample."When you have such an eclectic background and musical pedigree as we do, it's best to concentrate on delivering impactful songs instead of worrying about style or if what we are writing is going to connect with people. We put a lot of ourselves into writing our songs without following trends or scenes, and true music fans can hear the authenticity and sincerity in what we are doing. Some of the material on Dirty Kings III is more aggressive than what we've done in the past, and some of the songs are definitely more melodic than on the previous two albums. It took longer than we wanted, but we couldn't be happier with the results we've gotten."Dirty Kings returned to the friendly confines of Avalanche Recording Studio in Northbrook, CO for the recording of Dirty Kings III, using the same team as on Crown Jewel to capture their live-in-the studio approach. "Joey (Shapiro) and Mike (Sandoval) really take care of us, they know that we like to record all rhythm tracks live in order to get that on-stage attack that we love so much", comments drummer Jameson Becker."We put a lot of pressure on ourselves this way, we rehearsed these songs for several weeks in order to get them tight enough to record the music 100% live. It's something not a lot of bands can do and still deliver album-level results. Instead of tracking each instrument individually, our approach really gives our songs an edge and a level of soul that we're really proud of."The lead single, "Out Of Line", (check out the lyric video now available on the band’s social media pages) demonstrates the band's ability to write a darker, but super catchy song while not being predictable."The chorus on that song I think surprised us even after we finished writing it. It's something that took us out of our comfort zones, but again, we just let the songs and melodies come naturally and we think that song stands out on the album," boasts Sample."Aside from myself, we have three other solid singers in this band. We’ve utilized good background vocals in the past, but I went one step further by writing lines and melodies specifically for the other guys to sing themselves. They really stepped up and the vocals on this album will hopefully impress everyone."Other songs like "Nova Drive", "Swallow Tail", "Wrong Place, Right Time" and the ballad-like "Can't Find The Sun" also showcase the melodic tendencies and infectious vocals that make Dirty Kings III stand out from other hard rock bands."'Nova Drive' was the first song we wrote for this album, almost four years ago at this point. It's got a great heavy groove to it, but also a cool chorus that you can sing along to and some cool guitar soloing.I think it represents the album well overall," says bassist Wade Cleaton.Speaking of guitar playing, the team of John Gaster and Shawn Fallahi certainly didn't hold back on Dirty Kings III.Rhythmically as well as solo wise, the duo again delivered impressive results that complement both players and their ability to let each other shine while being constantly locked in at all times. Heavier songs like "Catch Twenty-Two", "Ties That Bind" and "The Apollo Crossing" deliver great riffing that will please old school Heavy Metal fans without alienating fans who just appreciate solid guitar playing.Look for Dirty Kings to support the new album with consistent live shows and apperances throughout Colorado and the Mountain and Midwest Regions.
