Valiant Sentinel is the epic heavy metal project of the guitarist Dimitris Skodras. His first same-titled album ''Valiant Sentinel'' (2021) and second album "Neverealm" (2026).Formed in 2018 by Greek guitarist and composer Dimitris Skodras, Valiant Sentinel has carved a place in the power metal scene with their epic storytelling, thunderous riffs, and soaring melodies. Their self-titled debut album, released in 2022 via No Remorse Records, immediately turned heads across the global metal community. Featuring iconic guest performances from Fabio Lione (Rhapsody of Fire, Angra) and Tim “Ripper” Owens (Judas Priest, Iced Earth), the record established Valiant Sentinel as a project with both vision and undeniable talent.With “Neverealm”, the band expands its creative universe, transporting listeners into a vivid fantasy realm of battles, kingdoms, and eternal struggle. The album showcases a stellar lineup: Veandok on vocals, Panos Manikas on bass, and world-renowned drummer Frederik Ehmke (Blind Guardian). Special guest appearances include Zak Stevens (Savatage, Circle II Circle) and Laura Guldemond (Burning Witches), while Skodras leads with his signature guitar mastery and sweeping symphonic arrangements.

VALIANT SENTINEL returns 5 years after its self – titled debut with a brand new full – length offering; the mighty Neverealm!Those 5 years have been a time of change and introspection for the band, as evident not only by the renewed artistic direction but also the lineup changes. Band leader Dimitris Skordas (guitars, keys) is now flanked by Panos Manikas on bass, Frederik Ehmke (BLIND GUARDIAN, session musician for the current release) on drums, and Veandok on vocals.Veandok’s addition is especially significant, since the vocal style he offers differs from the typical Power Metal approach. He can and does hit high notes, but his voice also has the necessary gravitas and emotion to carry him through both harsher as well as more melancholic passages.The band’s internal rearrangements are also evident in the change of record label. The switch to Theogonia Records signifies the will to try something new and broaden the SENTINEL’s horizons.Coming back to the purely musical aspect, those 5 years of work definitely translate to the result that is Neverealm. In its new record, VALIANT SENTINEL, to me, feels like a callback to the glory days of European Power Metal, specifically of the Teutonic variety. The energy and the general upbeat – ness is there, but it’s gruff and serious, not happy go lucky. Think early BLIND GUARDIAN with a sprinkle of early HELLOWEEN. A keen listener may also catch some Demons & Wizards in there as well. The opening track (and also the album’s first single) War In Heaven as well as Elden Lord serve in my opinion as the highlights of an already solid sum.The ambitiousness of the project is underlined by its strong features. As mentioned above, BLIND GUARDIAN’s Frederik Ehmke mans the drums for the entirety of the record, with Zak Stevens (SAVATAGE) and Laura Guldemond (BURNING WITCHES) lending their voices in Arch Nemesis and Neverealm (the title track) respectively.In a genre (because I personally catalogue Neverealm under the EU Power Metal umbrella) that has suffered the great disservice of pop – ification and over marketization in recent years, VALIANT SENTINEL is a valiant example of the genre done justice.VALIANT SENTINEL – Neverealm will be released on the 16th of January 2026 by Theogonia Records on CD and digitally.
