Ron Barnes, ("BARNES"), is a songwriter, producer and musician who has performed on many stages ranging from Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas to Summerfest and Country Thunder in Wisconsin to various outdoor venues, conference centers, concert halls, churches and theatres nationwide. It was while studying at Berklee College of Music that he began playing piano as a secondary instrument to drums and percussion and, after many years as a working drummer, he finally found his voice in his own songwriting. His countless hours spent listening and practicing all styles of music while growing up has contributed to the versatile musician and songwriter he is today. Ron says, “Growing up I listened to all kinds of music…..rock, pop, jazz, fusion, R&B, country, singer/songwriter, hard rock, you name it. I picked something up from each style.” Ron continues, “I was listening to the Rolling Stones, Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, Doobie Brothers, Steely Dan….all the great rock bands…..as well as rock from the 80’s like Bryan Adams, Journey, Foreigner, Eddie Money, Toto….. I loved everything about those artists….the writing, playing, production, all of it.”"My songwriting is very 70's and 80's influenced with modern production. Musically, the songs range from radio-friendly rock to high energy power pop to AOR with some tracks incorporating jazz and blues chord changes and voicings. The lyric style is simple and straightforward that everyone can relate to - themes about love, loss and longing for better times. It’s kind of old-school meets contemporary rock vibe."

Silently released by himself, ”Long Road” is the debut album by BARNES, the band of songwriter, producer and musician Ron Barnes. Musically, his songs range from FM radio-friendly rock to high energy power pop to AOR with some tracks incorporating bluesy chord changes and voicings.Barnes’ partner in crime for the creation of ”Long Road” is talented producer & musician Joey Vana – son of Joe Vana (Mecca, Missing Toys) who also co-arranged the songs and play Electric Guitars, Keyboards, and did Background Vocals.Drawing on his many connections with musicians from the genre, Joey Vana brought in outstanding players for the recording of BARNES’ debut album: Mike Aquino (Mecca, Pride Of Lions), Mecca’s mastermind Joe Vana on backing vocals, on bass Gary Lunn (Dann Huff’s WhiteHeart) & Bill Syniar (Mecca, Survivor), David Browning (Mecca) on keyboards, Chris Siebold (Soleil Moon) on guitar, and more.
