Bio:
Norwegian melodic rock/AOR band.Da Vinci had his first concert in March 1987, and got contract with Polygram, who was looking for a band similar to the Swedish Europe. Da Vinci achieved some success with the single Forever In My Heart, and their two albums sold 20,000 and 10,000 copies, respectively. Da Vinci backed Ole Evenrud on an England tour in December 1989, the main attraction of the tour was Status Quo, but England's stay was not the best of the camaraderie, and Boge ended in January 1990. After that, Aslak Molvær first took over bass, so came Swedish Sandin knows the band. Da Vinci then switched record company to CBS, and released a single there, but it did not prevent the band from being dissolved in 1992. Their CDs were also released in Japan. Dag Selboskar, Lars Aass and Gunnar Westlie continued writing writings throughout the 90's. Dag and Gunnar started Eidsivating in 2003, together with Leif Digernes, Geir Digernes and Bjørn Malmåsen. Dag and Gunnar always had a new DaVinci recording in mind and restarted Da Vinci in 2015 with a new crew. New album: Ambition Rocks was finished in 2017, produced by Sverre E Henriksen.
Album:
Norwegian hard rock favorites DA VINCI return with a special release titled “Unfinished Business,” arriving on April 24, 2026.Despite releasing two acclaimed albums for Mercury Records and achieving strong success in Norway and Japan, the band never reached the international breakthrough many expected and eventually went their separate ways after their second album. Now, more than three decades later, keyboardist Dag Selboskar has revisited the band’s archives, uncovering previously unreleased material alongside alternate versions of known tracks. The recordings have been carefully completed in Selboskar’s home studio with contributions from original members Lars Aass and Gunnar Westlie, as well as bassist Ken Sandin (ALIEN, SWEDISH EROTICA).“Unfinished Business” offers fans a long-awaited glimpse into DA VINCI’s lost chapter and celebrates the band’s melodic hard rock legacy. One would think that two top flight albums for Mercury Records would have set Norwegian hard rock darlings DA VINCI on their way to international fame and fortune..or at least recognition. Unfortunately, while they were quite triumphant in their homeland and in Japan, success on a grand scale escaped the band and after their second album the quintet parted ways.Recently, keyboard player, Dag Selboskar decided that, after both albums had been reissued a number of times, it was time for the public to hear the music that never saw the light of day as well as alternate versions of some of the album tracks. Digging through closets and dresser drawers the original masters of material the band had been working on when they split were located and final touches were added in Selboskar's home studio with assistance from Alien and Swedish Erotica bassist Ken Sandin lending a hand. After more than thirty years, DA VINCI may not be Back in Business but they are delivering some 'Unfinished Business' for your enjoyment. (I don't like "for your enjoyment" and will replace it).One would think that two albums for Mercury Records would have set Norwegian hard rock darlings DA VINCI on their way to international fame and fortune ... or at least recognition.
