Mattador, born of the fiery spirit and rich musical heritage of Puerto Rico, is a melodic rock powerhouse band that combines rousing vocals, razor-sharp guitar riffs and a rhythm group as precise as it is thundering. The new 12-track album presents the band's signature style through a diverse collection of songs ranging from classic power ballads to rousing rock anthems and heavy guitar riffs to fast-paced juggernauts. The album benefits from the engineering and co-production of Bob St. John, whose impressive resume includes collaborations with renowned bands such as Extreme, Dokken, Collective Soul and Duran Duran and many others. Today, the band consists of founding members Michael Villegas (lead vocals), Carlos Benitez (drums, percussion and vocals) and Miguel "Tito" Rodriguez (lead guitar and violin) as well as the new addition Abraham Millet (bass and keyboard). Together they create a unique sound that combines the melodic sensibility of classic rock with an undercurrent of hard rock, a touch of prog and a modern touch. Originally active from 1988 to 1995, the band earned a loyal following thanks to their explosive live shows and a unique blend of hard rock and Latin influences, performing alongside legends like Aerosmith and Iron Maiden and gaining attention across the European rock scene.Reunited in 2022, the founding members reignited their creative fire, channeling decades of experience into 12 brand-new tracks.
