Bio:

Blitz are a three piece band from the Nottingham area, consisting of guitarist Kevin Simpson, vocalist/bassist Stuart Corden and drummer Mathew Davis, who also provides backing vocals. This release, the band's first, is a self-produced seven track EP. The short first track, 'Welcome To The Rock Show', serves as a broad introduction as to what the listener can expect from the majority of the other tracks, being up tempo and high energy 'good time' rock with plenty of melody and hooks.Of the tracks in this style, probably the stand out ones are 'Falling Down', which is extremely catchy and has a riff in the end section that’s reminiscent of ‘Pyromania’-era Def Leppard; 'Another World Away' in which the vocals are very evocative of David Lee Roth in early Van Halen; and 'Drive', which has an Offspring style intro and a riff that has a faint ring of 'Children Of The Grave' to it (at least to my ears). For me, though, the standout track is 'Journey Of A Thousand Souls', the longest on the EP and with a more measured tempo, a more serious tone and an epic feel. It is meant as a compliment to the band that the song has a Maiden-esque feel to it, especially regarding the guitar sound. Overall, this is a very impressive and promising debut from Blitz, especially given that it was self-produced, and I await with interest further releases from them. BlitZ began taking there Rock show up and down the bars and stages of the u.k gaining rave reviews, radio play and an ever growing army of friends.

Album:

Nottingham, UK’s melodic hard rockers BLITZ are a blast. Their new album “Rock City Symphony” is a blast too. Yeah, the guys put out some fine albums so far, but with “Rock City Symphony” BlitZ has released their best so far, and one of the best CD’s of the year.Indeed, on “Rock City Symphony” BlitZ keeps delivering their delightful blend of American ’80s melodic, radio-friendly, feel-good rock n’ roll, very well played & produced as usual from them, but this time there’s ‘the catchy factor’ pushed to the limit. And the songwriting: none of the 11 tracks feels like a filler – all killers!BlitZ recaptures the spirit of a classic era when music was fun—a rare fusion of melodic pop-rock and hard-hitting riffs, read KISS, Y&T, Bon Jovi, Harem Scarem, Van Halen, etc. The album is packed with infectious hooks, memorable melodies, and a flair for dramatic storytelling, all delivered with unmistakable energy.BlitZ’s tight, powerful musicianship is on full display in every fist-pumping anthem, demonstrating both their technical skill and genuine conviction. With ”Rock City Symphony”, BlitZ proves that old-school rock still has something new to teach, thanks to the fresh perspective of Kev, Stu, and Mat.
