Bio:

Hailing from Denmark, Animalyze is a glam-rock powerhouse known for their explosive energy, catchy sing-along lyrics, wild riffs, and thundering drums. Their electrifying stage presence has left audiences enthralled and eager to see what surprises their next show might bring. “Truly an event to fill any lusting rock soul out there,” says one fan.Animalyze is a Danish glam-rock band, with members: Vikki Mahrt (Vocal), Clay Ronson (Guitar), Chris Clark (Drums) and Mike Lauren (Bass). The story of the band begins in 2017, when guitar player Clay Ronson crossed paths with drummer Chris Clark. A connection immediately sparked by a shared love of the energetic and raw attitude of the wild 80's Glam Rock scene. The vision was clear - and so began the journey for the perfect lineup to fulfill the missing pieces. It wasn’t up until 2022 when frontman Vikki Mahrt & bass player Mike Lauren joined the band, that the group was completed. In 2024, everything fell into place when the legendary Ken Anthony (Metallica, Pretty Maids, King Diamond ect.) came on board as the band’s manager. With his Rock’n’Roll expertise and drive, he injected new energy into the project, landing a record deal with Steelheart Records in Milano, Italy and paving the way for Animalyze to blast out their sound to a global audience. The band has recorded and released three singles and will soon release their debut album, "Powerhouse".

Album:

Japan edition with 2 new bonus tracks.Debut-album for Animalyze, the young & reckless Danish band with a sound that has the potential to be played on all the Rock radio stations in the world!Loud, explosive, infectious and ‘80s-inspired.Every so often, a band arrives with presumably well intentioned statements of bringing the joy of ’80s Sunset Strip glam back to the people and, equally as often, and perhaps even after one, maybe two, decent attempts at doing just that; they limp back into obscurity having distinctly failed to set the rock world alight. The latest to make such bold proclamations are Denmar’s four piece Animalyze who at least have the good grace to misspell their name in the proper fashion. But, can they deliver ?A wailing siren obviously echoes Sweet’s “Blockbuster” before the thumping title track “Powerhouse” comes complete with throbbing guitar and gang vocals that will have you immediately out of your seat reaching for your air guitar. It had me wondering how they were going to top that because, as opening salvos go, it was on the right side of awesome. “Hunter of The Night” settles back a little but wouldn’t be out of place on any later KISS album such as Sonic Boom; whilst “Beauty Is A Killer” stretches the gang style backings into fine harmonizing that could raise comparisons to Night Ranger and others of a similar ilk; before more radio ready latter day KISS cloning on “Trigger of Love”.“Hot But Dangerous” is proficiently executed but I felt rather leaden which certainly belied the title’s promise. Absolutely nothing wrong with it but I just thought it lacked the full bodied excitement I was expecting, that’s all. “Wild For Free” channels the band’s inner Poison with a gang style chant replete with classic “Let Me Hear You Scream” lyric and band chatter in a similar vein to “Play that guitar CC”. The joyful swaggering boogie of “X-Medication” then gives way to “Pleasure & Pain”, a sleaze infused growler, that put me in mind of Little Caesar which is certainly no bad thing to my ears; before “Dr Chemical” ramps up the sleaze aspect a little more alongside yet another simple but sweetly infectious chorus. Current at time of writing single “Kings of The Night” is a stomping , airwave and arena friendly rocker that brings the album to a close in much the same way that the title track began proceedings so perfectly. The production is crystal clear and the band members are really on fire throughout, with Clay Ronson’s faultless guitar perfectly complimenting the rhythm section of Mike Lauren on bass and Chris Clark‘s drumming, whilst all three contribute superb harmonizing on practically every track. Singer Vikki Mahrt has a vocal chameleon quality that is a huge bonus in itself. Whether he’s growling like Ron Young or bouncing along in a Bret Michaels style, I have absolutely no doubt that he will hold the anticipated crowds in the palm of his hands if he is even half as good live as he is on here. So, have they succeeded in bringing the ’80s glam back as promised? On the evidence contained here, and on the whole, I would say that the answer is a resounding yes. The songs are straightforward, simple, effective with memorable choruses and a huge dose of fun which we can all do with more of, let’s be honest. I would go so far as saying that this is the best glam debut I’ve heard since Reckless Love’s way back in 2011 and I doubt that there’s a bigger compliment I can give it than that.
