Bio:

Leilani Kilgore delivers fiery, blues-infused rock with a raw, unapologetic edge. Armed with searing guitar riffs, sultry vocals, and a stage presence that commands attention, she blends classic grit with modern aggression.Debut album "Tell Your Ghost" (2025).My name is Leilani Kilgore, and I am a guitarist and vocalist from Southern California. Over the years, I have studied under accomplished and skilled musicians that have helped me achieve multi-genre experience as a guitarist/singer, including attending Berklee College of Music as a scholarship student. Now a regular performer in Southern California, both as a soloist and band leader, I continue to work as a professional musician and make a name for myself in the blues and rock genre. I am continuously inspired by musicians such as Jack White, Joe Bonamassa, Robben Ford, Gino Matteo, Chris Cain, Tom Waits, Son House, Jimmy Page, John Hiatt, Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, John Scofield, B.B. King, Beth Hart, Etta James, Albert King, and others.

Album:

Debut full-length album with date of release 10. October 2025.A Nashville transplant hailing from the West Coast, Leilani Kilgore serves aggressive hard-hitting rock with a touch of meaningful blues and fearlessly honest emotional expression. Her variety of sound and electric performance has earned her headlining slots on legendary stages such as the Sturgis Buffalo Chip main stage and Summerfest, and placed her as the opener for renowned acts like Buddy Guy, Lita Ford, 38 Special, Limp Bizkit, and The Dead Daisies.Out of Nashville these days, blues-based guitarist Leilani Kilgore (hailed by Guitar World) has her debut album, "Tell Your Ghost" chambered, and ready to be unleashed on the world this Friday, October 10th. A long time coming together, she cranked out the actual recording in only three studio days, and let me be the first to tell you, ghost or no ghost, this thing is a fn monster. Produced by Kilgore herself, this record showcases both her guitar playing and writing skills. The first time I heard it I recognized Kilgore’s eagerness to expand beyond traditional blues by embracing other elements of rock and alternative music. Don’t get me wrong, these songs are bluesy, but she stretches the boundaries of that moniker in every possible direction. An artist I first met years ago in Oklahoma, I’ve followed her closely since, caught her live everywhere from New Orleans to Biloxi, and even with that history, more than one of these new tracks left me shellshocked. Not that she wasn’t unpredictable already, I’ve heard her do just about everything from traditional blues to a roughed-up version of Helter Skelter that would challenge Motley Crue, but these new songs are from the mind of Leilani, and I don’t know what I expected, but this record took me off my feet. She already has a string of successful singles and an EP which have accumulated hundreds of thousands of streams, but the West Coast native decided the time was right to finally release a full-length album. One of my favorite artists, I told her in the green room at Ground Zero, sight unseen, I would be proud to write about this record when she had it done, and low and behold here we are. Prelude aside, lets get into my standout tracks.Just mentioned she is one of my fav artists, and she cemented that standing with her pre-release singles. She dropped three, and all three made my list of stand outs. First, the opening track, High/Low. A jumpy lil drum intro leading to a solid distorted guitar riff. I love both of those, but my fav aspect of this song is Kilgore’s vocal tone. Lower, clean, it’s where I like her voice the best. The stingers in between the lyrics “you’re high!! … you’re low !!” seal the deal for me on this one. Then there is Early Grave. Scaled back in production, a slower song with an intro that almost reminds me of U2’s With or withou You.Vocals that prove her range, lyrics that make you think, this one provides a stellar example of both Kilgore’s artistic versatility and growth as a songwriter. Wish You were Dead is a straight banger. This one didn’t surprise me at all, it is what I would call a traditional Kilgore tune. Catchy riffs with a crunchy guitar delivery and the kind of raw energy she is known for around here. I don’t know her personally, we don’t hang out on the weekends and send each other birthday cards, but I know her well enough to say this is the kind of song I surmise resulted from the end of a relationship. Either way, I wouldn’t want to be on her bad side.In that same vein, I have Burn on my list also, but this one hit me harder than the others. It comes out the gate fast and dirty, Lots of distortion; the guitar on this one is so greasy it leaves a reside! Kilgore’s voice gets down in that register where I like it again, and although I don’t know the inspiration for this song, it seems downright ominous. For me, it peaks when she lets out that scream; it’s touches on intimidating.I’ve been front row many a night and never heard her do anything like this before. I sat right up in my seat first time I heard it. Not that they are overly similar, but the last time I heard a howl this impressive was Travis McCready (Bishop Gunn) doing Bank Of The River. So, you’ll notice Burn got its own paragraph, which is a sign that it is my fav song on the record. That’s where I had it pegged, then along came Spanish Moss. A little more in the traditional blues line, this song is a winner from start to stop. Kilgore herself counts it as perhaps her favorite on the album too, and I see why. She loves the sound and feel of it and says it is right on par with all the things that make her excited about songwriting. I love the guitar, the love the story, I love the lyrics and the picture they paint. From the dead Magnolia Trees to the humming Cicadas, this song has intent, and it just oozes South Mississippi. Last but not least, I also wanted to give a quick nod to I See Stars. An emotional and poignant track that she thinks will catch listeners by surprise (in a good way). I won’t call it eerie, but it has a sad tone to it. It’s one she said that sometimes makes her tear up when she listens to it. If that don’t make you wanna hear it, I don’t know what will. So, there you go, Tell your Ghost according to me. Although regarded primarily as a blues artist, Kilgore approached this album intent on making sure it had a more rock-centric sound and an overall feel that mirrors her live performances; I think she nailed it. It’s traditional blues, laced with a hard rock attitude, and served by a lady who probably has a razor in her boot. Is it a perfect 5 out of 5 horns? Maybe. 6 standouts on a 9-track album is no joke! 2 of the remaining 3 are also pretty damned good, both in the vein of traditional blues, they just didn’t set me on fire. The only song I didn’t really like was Creepin. I don’t know why, it just didn’t hit for me. All that being said, this is a superstellar rock offering. The sonics are flawless, the guitars superior, but the vocals are what set this one apart for me. In a copycat industry, there is no one who sounds like Leilani. A lot of the female vocalists get lumped together, and rightfully so because they all have a similar presentation IMO. Not Kilgore. She can growl, she can howl, she can go from a sultry clean deep low to a controlled high-pitched wail and never flutter. If its not a 5, I haven’t had one closer this year.
