Bio:

SYR DARIA is a French heavy metal band born at the end of 2007, of the meeting of the guitarists Michel Erhart and Thomas Haessy, joins by Christophe Brunner on drums and Guillaume Hesse as a singer and bass player. Recording their first LP wich called “Circus of life”, brought out in January 2011 and the second in 2016 called “Voices” distributed by BRENNUS MUSIC label. The group occurred on various stages:Stage of Grillen (festival orgy of influence), in the Triangle to Huningue, caf conc of Ensisheim , guest of Freedom Call (5 dates), Tankard, Paul Di Anno, Absolva, Special guest of Scorpions at Colmar in august 2011.The band even claimed news sounds such as Thrash and Heavy, even Pop and Rock style but remains groovy and powerful. The VOICES themes are just like the band, varied and limitless: the clowns are still here, exploring the complexities of human psychology, but VOICES is also a journey into the Pharaohs of ancient Egypt and it analyzes particular dailies laps of time, or even contemporary SF literature ... VOICES is a truly powerful album, a wonderful mix of traditional metal but also evaluating towards modern musical styles. The results is a powerful music and a crazy band on stage...

Album:

France's Syr Daria release 4th album "Dark Carousel", 10 tracks of heavy metal on the darker and heavier side.Heavy, fast and brutal tempered with rock melodic catchiness and twin guitar action.Active since 2007, the French band from Mulhouse, which develops heavy metal music that is both powerful and refined, attaches great importance to lyrics and therefore to the context of its songs. Inspired by cinema, literature, history and human frailties, the band creates music that could be described as cinematic or conceptual. Several albums have already been released (2009, 2013 and 2019), each telling a specific story, or rather a part of our world. Dark Carousel, their latest album, seems to mark a major milestone in the band's history, thanks to the maturity they have acquired over many years of work, composition and writing!Composed of Guillaume Hesse (vocals), Michel Herhart (guitar), Thomas Haessy (guitar), Pascal Husser (bass), and Christophe Brunner (drums), the French combo effectively develops metal on the borderline between traditional heavy metal and thrash metal or even speed metal, the latter due to the speed of the guitars and drums, as well as the sharp rhythms of the compositions. There is also a touch of epic metal, thanks to the playful vocals with echo effects, which create powerful choruses. Musically, the guitar solos abound, the bass offers some very nice passages, and the drums are sharp and straightforward! Through this excerpt, we can hear an omnipresent and enjoyable bass, a sustained and attractive tempo, controlled power, and ultimately an effective heavy thrash sound reminiscent of Metallica or Rage.Of course, we are treated to a lovely ballad, ‘Legacy’, which reminds me of Testament, incidentally, as there is a similarity in the title, if I'm not mistaken, with the American band's album! Here too, there is some great bass work... another similarity with the French band. Then it's back to business, or rather to some punchy, well-paced heavy metal, where the bass continues to offer us some of the most enjoyable technical work. In any case, it's highly effective, and the performance of our French friends is on a par with US, Anglo-Saxon and even Nordic productions. They go the distance, thanks to the maturity they have acquired! The French combo has concocted a polished, effective album that offers all self-respecting metalheads a skilful alchemy of heavy metal, thrash metal and speed metal, all in a cinematic context. An album of maturity...well worth discovering!
