Effex is an italian rock band active since 2002. “Escape from this World” is the second album and the first recorded with the new line-up. It represents a new life for the band which has achieved a more mature sound and songwriting. The lyrics express the concept of the album which is totally turning around time, life and love.The album was recorded and mixed at Elfo Studio in Italy and produced by Daniele Mandelli. Mastered by Giovanni Versari at La Maestà Studio in Italy.

The guys released their first effort back in 2009, and since then experienced a hiatus / line up changes. “Escape From This World” is their brand new album, the first recorded with the new personnel. It represents a new life for the band, which has achieved a more mature sound and songwriting.EffeX sound is very ’80s, with songwriting also taking inspiration from the greatest AOR names, both from American & Europe, especially the British brand. The songs on “Escape From This World” are for the most part under the four-minute mark, which benefits the catchiness and hooks.Queen of the Lie, Best of all Time, Wind of Memory, Wings of Fire all are uptempo, dynamic numbers, and the band also deliver midtempo / ballad cuts on Blessed Is The Day I Met You (a duet with a female singer uncredited), and View From The Sky, where they add acoustics into the mix.EffeX also does a cover of Foreigner’s classic ‘I Want To Know What Love Is’, and the surprise comes as the version is arranged uptempo, with a melodic hard rockin’ edge.EffeX is a fine band, armed with strong songs in the classic style for the genre, with good musicianship, and “Escape From This World” is well produced & mixed. While singer Gianni isn’t the strongest vocalist and has some accent, the guy puts a lot of passion and an obvious love for the genre.The star here is keyboardist Alessandro, providing inventive ivory fills, utilizing vintage ’80s synths and nice piano sections. The guitar work is solid too, namely the rhythm and dropping short, effective solos.
