Bio:

Sleaze metal legends that were burned out after one album and tour. Their manager once stated, "there's only so far you can get with three junkies and one alcoholic," words that would later prove too be true.Formed in San Francisco, California by Ron Yocom (vocals/guitar), Chris Schlosshardt (bass) and Greg Langston (drums). Metallica's Kirk Hammett produced their demo, and Ian Astbury of the Cult showed interest in producing the full-length debut. However it would Mike Clink (who had just scored big with Guns N'Roses) who would try and harness the bands music. During the recordings, session guitarist Kevin Russell was brought in and Langston replaced by ex-Legal Weapon skin-pounder Adam Maples. Frankie Wilsey was named the permanent lead guitarist in November 1988. The debut album and tour was postponed due to Yocom and Schlosshardt's drug indulgences, and the label helped them get clean before sending them out to promote the album. However it was short-lived, as Schlosshardt died of a heroin overdose in 1991, thus ending the legacy of the Sea Hags. Maples almost replaced Steven Adler in Guns N'Roses, and Wilsey (using the surname of Wilsex) joined Stephen Pearcy and Fred Coury in Arcade. After disappearing for several years, Yocom finally resurfaced in the band Power Of 3. Self-destruction at it's best.

Album:

"Sea Hags - Dead And Gone" refers to a newly released album by the late 1980s San Francisco hard-rock band Sea Hags, featuring a previously unreleased 10-song live recording from 1986 at CD Studios. Released on September 12, 2025, by Liberation Hall Records , it captures the band's "sleaze metal" sound and includes their popular songs from their early days.Their first 6 track demo was produced by renown producer/engineer Sylvia Massy and Kirk Hammett and the Metallica guitarist played on two of the tracks and quickly sold out. By September 1986, Sea Hags had played "60 or 70 shows, at least," drummer Greg Langston said, so the band was extremely tight when they scheduled a live recording session with Massy engineering."The recording at CD Studios is very representative of that period". In front of an invited audience of about 60 enthusiastic fans, the band charged through its then-current set. The recording is an authentic and organic document of Sea Hags' original trio, without the additional studio players whose work figured into earlier - and later - recordings. But the label's insistence that the lineup change, drummers and add members inevitably changed the dynamic and the band fell apart. This is Sea Hags at their best...before the label meddled with the chemistry that made them such a powerful compelling live band.Sea Hags formed on New Year’s Day, 1985, comprising singer/guitarist Ron Yocom, bassist Chris Schlosshardt, and drummer Greg Langston. Yocom and Schlosshardt had previously played together in Santa Rosa trio the Tearaways. Upon relocating to San Francisco, they drafted in drummer Greg Langston, already a scene veteran with such groups as Tuxedomoon, No Alternative, Fade To Black, and Beast featuring ex-Cramps guitarist Bryan Gregory. Following Langston’s departure, the band expanded to a four-piece and released an eponymous 1989 album on Chrysalis Records before disbanding in the early ‘90s.
