Recognized in Canada’s rock and blues music scene for his acclaimed vocals, stage presence, and songwriting and instrumental skills, Doug has been awarded 5 London Music Awards, honoured three times as a Blues Artist, twice as a Tribute Artist, and once as Singer/Songwriter with his self produced album “Feel Free”.After his induction in the Forest City London Music Awards Hall Of Fame “Doug Varty is a national treasure” proclaimed Canadian Music critic Greg Simpson.He’s shared the stage with Jeff Healey, Edgar Winter, Tina Turner, Bob Seger, John Lee Hooker, Roy Orbison, John Mellencamp and others.He’s performed in Canada, the USA, Mexico, the Caribbean, Germany and Holland and lent his vocal and songwriting talents to other movie soundtracks, commercials, TV shows and other artist’s recordings, including Wild T and The Spirit and Helix.In addition to touring as a Rod Stewart Tribute artist, Doug’s most current passion is “Beatles In Blue”, a live band show featuring rocking Blues reworkings of classic Beatles songs, showcasing his brilliant band and himself.With “Beatles In Blue” he’s now released a self titled 10 song album and is currently touring this show through 2024.Coming in 2024, there’s a much overdue Doug Varty solo album and a second Beatles in Blue album in the works. Previously unreleased material recorded in the 1980s and 1990s, remastered by JK Northrup! 'Keep The Dream Alive' is a compilation of unreleased material from Canadian singer/songwriter and guitarist DOUG VARTY. Doug has fronted the Doug Varty Band; recorded with legendary producers Jack Richardson (The Guess Who), Terry Brown (Rush, Blue Rodeo), and David Tyson (Hall and Oates). He won a major recording deal as “Canada's Best New Original Act” in Labatt's Band Warz, a Canada wide Battle of the Bands with 2000 entrants.He's appeared live with Bob Seger, Tina Turner, The Tragically Hip, Jeff Healey, The Beach Boys, John Mellencamp, and Rush, to name but a few. He's toured Europe, Mexico, the USA, and Canada extensively over his career.There have been many recordings made of Doug's music over the years, but these tracks, some of them his most favorite songs and performances, have not seen the light of day. “I'm really excited to see the release of this album. Some of my best songs and vocals are captured on it. Happy that I finally get to share them with fans new and old.”
