Bio:
Transcendence was formed in the late ‘90s in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area.TRANSCENDENCE is a 5-piece progressive metal band formed in 1998 by bassist Kirk WOOD and drummer John Von ROSENBERG. The band eventually found, through various auditions, side projects, and classifieds, guitarist Jeff FORD, vocalist Greg DREW, and keyboardist John HOWSER. Now a full band, the fledgling group of musicians began playing shows, writing music, and searching for record deals. The band embarked on the recording on their debut album "Meridian Project" in 1999, not long after the band had fully formed. However, the album was not officially released until 2002 by Lion Music. The band seemed to teeter off in to non-existence after that, recording an EP with new drummer Derek EDWARDS (after ROSENBERG had left) in 2003 entitled "Three Stones", and then not doing much afterwards. The band's debut has been re-released a few times from 2002 to 2009, all doing relatively well due to the band's very standard prog-power metal sound.TRANSCENDENCE's sound is very akin to the band's they're heavily influenced by, such as SYMPHONY X, SAVATAGE, IRON MAIDEN, and VANDEN PLAS, and the band will appeal to fans of this kind of music. The band's lyrics are also based in Christianity, which adds another dimension to their style in some ways.

US progressive metal pioneers TRANSCENDENCE (Transcendence US band) are officially back. The new album, "Nothing Etched In Stone - Pt. I", arrives June 27, 2025 via Cosmic Fire Records and marks their first release in over two decades. The band promises an emotional and intricate sonic journey, with part two scheduled for 2026."Nothing Etched In Stone" is a 19-track concept album split across two releases. The story follows an artist’s battle with inspiration, trauma, loss, and ultimately, redemption - framed by a global crisis and deep personal reckoning. The official music video for the album’s lead single, "The Edge Awaits".Vocalist Brian Dixon shares: "'The Edge Awaits' might be my favorite track. I was going through a personal tragedy during recording, and that emotion really comes through in the performance."Keyboardist John Howser adds: "'The Edge Awaits' explores the shadows of the mind. It’s inspired by Nietzsche and Lovecraft, but ultimately it's about how we channel what’s inside us."Recorded at Fort Worth Sound by Bart Rose and mastered by Derek Taylor, the album introduces Brian Dixon (RESONANCE THEORY, X OPUS) as the new vocalist, following the departure of original frontman Greg Drew. The band’s signature mix of melodic complexity, narrative depth, and progressive heaviness is fully intact - and more ambitious than ever.Stay tuned for more updates, including tracklists, pre-order details, and news on Part II in 2026..
