Bio:

Hailing from Falköping, Sweden, THE DEVIL WEARS NADA delivers a powerful blend of arena-sized hooks, haunting theatrics, and a deep-seated love for the golden era of melodic rock. With a sound that balances nostalgia and modern edge, the band is carving out its place as a rising force in Sweden’s hard rock scene. At the heart of the group is drummer and principal songwriter Ludvig Alfvén, joined by an electrifying lineup: powerhouse vocalist Linus Johansson, guitarist Henrik Westergren, bassist/vocalist Fredrik Svensson Carlström, and multi-instrumentalist Jacob Werner, handling both keyboards and lead guitar. Together, they channel the spirit of classic rock with a fresh intensity and anthemic energy built for the big stage.Their debut album, Postalgia, marks a powerful introduction to their signature sound - a blend of soaring melodies, anthemic choruses, and cinematic flair. Originally released under the name Adecence in an ultra-limited run of just 100 CDs, the album quickly became a sought-after gem among collectors. Now, rebranded and remastered under THE DEVIL WEARS NADA, the album gets a full-scale revival through Eönian Records. This definitive edition includes two brand-new studio recordings, a high-octane cover of “1989” by fellow Swedish rockers Nestor, and a deluxe booklet with exclusive artwork and liner notes - making it a must-have for fans of AOR, melodic rock, and classic hard rock alike.

Album:

Formed in Falköping by experienced Swedish musicians influenced by ’80s Scandi melodic hard rock, the indie band ADECENCE presented their debut album “Postalgia” in 2024 a limited edition release. U.S. based specialized hard rock label Eönian Records contacted the band for a proper release, but asked a name change and the master tapes to remix / remaster the album. The guys suggested as new band name the title of one of their songs – the fun ”The Devil Wears Nada” featuring former Lordi member Sampsa Astala on drums, the band’s most successful song spent 15 weeks on Swedish Rock Radio playlist. Sure, a quite ridiculous name, but this is a great band.THE DEVIL WEARS NADA debut ”Postalgia [Eonian Records Remixed & Remastered +2]” sounds much better than the original indie release, and includes two extra, bonus tracks, one of them a cover of the Nestor song ‘1989’.This is classic Scandi melodic hard rock and THE DEVIL WEARS NADA isn’t reinventing the wheel, however this band have that ‘something’ that could set them apart from the pack. There’s some AORish songs on the album too, but despite the typical ‘love themes’ there’s something dark, sinister about the lyrics.THE DEVIL WEARS NADA merges the arena-ready melodies of classy Scandinavian AOR with a love for horror aesthetics and vintage hard rock energy. ”Postalgia” is a powerful statement of intent – fusing vintage melodic rock with eerie, cinematic flair. Packed with high-octane anthems, haunting melodies, and storytelling steeped in theatrical drama, ”Postalgia” channels the spirit of classic AOR while confidently carving out a sound that is uniquely their own.Fans of Da Vinci, Alien, 220 Volt, Dalton, and others will feel right at home, yet ”Postalgia” offers something refreshingly new for the next generation of melodic hard rock enthusiasts.Opener ‘Adecence‘ is a haunting intro, then ‘Patient Zero‘’s opening is grandiose and the keyboard hook is difficult to shift. Some of the vocal work is Boston-esque. ‘Late Night Talking‘ is more straight ahead rocking, but has a delicious vocal melody. No wonder it’s the lead single. There’s hints of the Night Flight Orchestra on ‘Make Me Feel‘ and that’s a good thing.Just when you think you have the style all compartmentalized, ‘Someone Slightly Buried‘ has a thick, heavy riff and a ghostly call and response vocal, but with a sugar coated chorus. ‘Juliet‘ is classy AOR very ’80s in essence yet with modern production. The song from where the band re-branded, ‘The Devil Wears Nada‘, is one of the best. A pulsing bass line leads to the gold of the chorus. Touches of the Night Flight Orchestra again and a hint of Toto here. A definite highlight.‘Infinity‘ is groove heavy and I mean intense heavy. Double bass drum triplets ago go. I can hear Alice Cooper at his ‘Trash’ era on this one. Ever been in a monastery? ‘Prima Nocta‘ is the soundtrack to that experience. Without being funereal, it leans heavily on crunchy rhythms and piano melodies, dark. The light to the shade is ‘Til Death Do Us Part‘. An acoustic based song with atmospheric keys and no vocals. But, it doesn’t lack for not having any.‘1989‘ is the Nestor cover, nicely done with the band’s own sound. The other extra track ‘Victim‘, has a retro melodic metal punch to it and is an upbeat end to proceedings. As said, THE DEVIL WEARS NADA’s ‘Postalgia’ is pretty much Scandi melodic hard rock with 80s/90s influence, but the band adds their own touch, a dark vibe, a pinch of horror, theatrical atmopshere. We are really eager to hear the next album which is ‘already in the works.’ A very interesting band offering something different.
