Dio was an American heavy metal band formed in 1982 and led by vocalist Ronnie James Dio, after he left Black Sabbath with intentions to form a new band with fellow former Black Sabbath member, drummer Vinny Appice.The name Dio was chosen because it made sense from a commercial standpoint, as the name was already well known at that time.The band released ten studio albums and had numerous line-up changes over the years with Ronnie James Dio having been the only constant member. Guitarists have included Craig Goldy (most recent guitarist), Doug Aldrich, Vivian Campbell, Warren DeMartini Tracy G, Jake E. Lee and Rowan Robertson.The band dissolved in 2010 when Ronnie James Dio died of stomach cancer at the age of 67. The band has sold more than 10 million copies of albums worldwide.

Good bootleg 2CD edition !! Rare songs from the great RONNIE JAMES DIO. So here’s ”Rares In The Dark”, a 2-CD of rarities from his solo career, previous bands and collaborations.While all these tracks have been officially released in one way or another, not all are easy to find, or in such high sound quality. We have a young Ronnie appearance on 1974’s Roger Glover Butterfly Ball, three songs in remastered form. Then the two songs from Ronnie collaboration with Kerry Livgren, the first DIO studio song recorded with Craig Goldy, original albums Japanese bonus tracks, etc.Also included are Ronnie’s cover of Alice Cooper classic ‘Welcome To My Nightmare’, his guest vocals on albums / songs from Twisted Sister’s Eddie Ojeda, Munitaka Higuchi & Dream Castle, Queensryche, Girlschool, David ”Rock” Feinstein, The Rods, and more.Of course, we find as well the single “Electra”, the last DIO song recorded before Ronnie’s death on May 16, 2010.As Ronnie once said: “This is your here, this is your now, let it be magical!”
