3th full-length album.RAGING FATE hail from Sweden and were founded in 2014 - initially as a solo project - by Mattias ‘Matte’ Lövdal. The debut album ‘Gods Of Terror’ from 2017 was followed three years later by the second full-length ‘Bloodstained Gold’, before the third disc ‘Mutiny’ was released.To say that Running Wild's influence on the sound of RAGING FATE should not be underestimated would be the understatement of the year, because ‘Mutiny’ lives and breathes the pirate spirit of Rock'n Rolf and his men and could easily have come from Kasparek's creative phase at the end of the 80s / beginning of the 90s.However, the Scandinavians only manage to come close to the brilliance of albums like ‘Pile Of Skulls’, ‘Blazon Stone’ or ‘Death Or Glory’. Tracks such as ‘Dead Man's Land’, ‘In Darkness And Sorrow’ or the epic closing number ‘The Great Heathen Army’ certainly have gripping hooks, but despite their best efforts, the songs don't come close to the moments of genius that were so widespread in Running Wild's day. And if proof were needed as to why ‘Mutiny’ ultimately only degenerates into an - admittedly quite decent - copycat, the somewhat uninspired ‘Hi Ho’ vocals on ‘Powder And Flame’ are recommended.
