Bio:
Gillan was an English rock band formed in 1978 by then-former Deep Purple vocalist Ian Gillan. Gillan was one of the hard rock bands to make a significant impact and achieve commercial success in the United Kingdom during the late 1970s and early 1980s, with five top 20 albums and six top 40 singles. The band split in late 1982 when Gillan joined Black Sabbath, before re-joining Deep Purple in 1984.
Abum:
Here’s exclusive the new GILLAN 7-CD Limited Box Set “1978-1982“, offering a comprehensive collection of Deep Purple’s iconic singer band’s work during the years from 1978 to 1982, when they rose to prominence in the New Wave of British Heavy Metal scene. This CD box set contains each GILLAN album with associated B-sides and stand-alone singles as bonus tracks, all remastered from the original tapes. It is the first time all Gillan albums and rarities are featured together, for a total of 95 tracks. At first we were thinking this would be a cash-in release, but comparing the sound quality with some previous reissues, this is the best ever. Gillan albums didn’t enjoyed a big budget production, even on vinyl the sound wasn’t the best. All Gillan albums in this box sound very good, fuller, clearer, and worth the investment for sure.Additionally, there’s an impressive amount of bonus / B-sides (hard to find), and for the first time we hear “Parliament Square” a previously unreleased song recently found. Rumors started with the first release of the 1978 S/T Gillan (aka The Japanese Album) on CD, on the RPM label. There was a photo in the booklet of that CD of a studio log sheet with the title, ‘Parliament Square’, written on it. That started a search for the track, which no one could verify the existence of. They’ve found it recently and added it to this box set.
