Avalon is a heavy metal band from Rochester, New York, USA, that was formed in 1987.Under their original name, Black Dragon, the band contributed the song "Paralized" to the 1985 WCMF 96.5 Homegrown 5 compilation LP. Their drummer at that time was Mark Salvaggio, and their guitarist was Jim DiGiovanni.They played a reunion show on February 4th, 2023 in Rochester.

AVALON from Rochester, New York are familiar to most metal collectors out there, thanks to their “Live or Die” debut album, a quite sought after private piece of vinyl, released back in 1988.One year after their debut, in 1989, AVALON released the “We Got This Idea…”, LP-tape, showcasing a more technical and melodic direction on their classic heavy metal. An impossible to find item nowadays, this tape is a real treasure, not only due to its rarity but due to the music it includes.After the release of the tape in 1991, the band moved from Rochester, to New York City trying to secure a valuable slot in the music industry. They performed extensively in various clubs around the area, recording some more music as well.The Arkeyn Steel Records team managed to track the drummer and founding member Lex Dunbar. Together they worked for the reissue of the “We Got This Idea…” LP-tape, for the first time on CD. A lot of bonus material is included: The unreleased NYC demo from 1994, plus some live cuts from the band’s performance at the famous CBGB club back in 1992.Everything is remastered from scratch by Kostas Scandalis at Infinity studio (Thessaloniki, Greece). The booklet includes a complete set of lyrics plus never before seen photos. Lex Dunbar worked on the liner notes, while Kostas Athanasoglou, developed the artwork for the CD.AVALON was for sure one of the most important bands of the New York heavy metal underground. Their second release is an absolute gem that deserves be discovered by everyone. So here it is!
