Bio:
Formed in 2010 by former members of Imagika, Dark Angel and Eldritch, Kill Ritual launched themselves into the metal world with their debut CD “The Serpentine Ritual” in 2012 on Scarlet Records and the band was immediately rewarded with great reviews and positive reaction from fans around the world. The band then completed a 30 date US tour in the fall of 2013 and followed it up with the release of their 2014 CD “The Eyes Of Medusa” on Golden Core/ZYX and again received great press and accolades from fans worldwide.2015 see the band preparing to release their new CD “ Karma Machine” with a new line up after the departure of vocalist Josh Gibson and drummer Gee Anzalone(Dragon Force). Joining Kill Ritual stalwarts’ guitarist Steven D. Rice and bassist Bobby HQ Storm and new vocalist David Reed Watson (Rage Of Angels, Electric Messiah) and drummer Koryun Bobikyan. The new CD will again be produced by guitarist Steve Rice at his Fossil Sound Studios and mixed/mastered by guitar legend, King Diamond member Andy LaRocque at his Sonic Train Studios.
Album:
KILL RITUAL return with their new album In My Head, out November 21, 2025 via Massacre Records. The album, produced and composed by Steven D. Rice and mixed by Andy LaRocque, promises ten intense tracks where powerful riffs, dark atmospheres and provocative lyrics combine to showcase KILL RITUAL in one of their most dynamic and powerful works. In My Head, their latest studio salvo via Massacre Records (out November 21st, snag that limited vinyl before it’s gone), picks up right where Thy Will Be Done left us dangling over the abyss, but this time they’ve cranked the dial to eleven with ten tracks of pure, unadulterated American fury wrapped in shadows and symphonic bite. Steven D. Rice—guitar slinger extraordinaire, multi-instrumental wizard, and the mad architect behind every riff, bassline, synth swirl, and lyric here—has outdone himself. Recorded across a year of blood, sweat, and midnight oil, then polished to razor sharpness by none other than King Diamond alumnus Andy LaRocque at Sonic Train Studio, this beast roars with the kind of production that lets every crushing chord and haunting melody breathe like a demon unchained. Jobert Mello‘s artwork seals the deal, all brooding torment and elegant menace, like a gateway to the band’s twisted psyche. And the lineup? Rice on everything but the kit, where Seamus Gleason‘s piston-like drums provide the heartbeat, and newcomer Judas on vocals—man, this guy’s got a timbre that could curdle milk or summon storms, a perfect foil to Rice’s layered growls and harmonies. Together, they’re a three-headed hydra of aggression and atmosphere, proving once again that less can be way more when it’s this damn potent. From the title track’s tormented openimg—a swirling vortex of Megadeth-approved chugs meets Nevermore‘s brooding introspection, with Judas snarling about the voices that won’t shut up—to the epic closer Our Elegant Demon, which slithers in like a velvet noose before exploding into a cathartic wail of vengeance and release, In My Head is a journey through the underbelly of the soul. Shadow On Your Grave hits like a midnight intruder, yes, but a midnight intruder with a lot of late eighties Shrapnel albums; it’s got that classic US power metal charge, evoking Sanctuary’s dark majesty but with a thrash edge that keeps your neck in perpetual motion. Then there’s the album’s first real standout 1000 Years, a mid-tempo stomper where Rice’s classic riffs build with Gleason’s tribal pounding—pure gooseflesh territory, the kind of track that’d make even the most jaded prog-metal snob crack a smile (or a fist pump). Especially when Judas unleashes something unholy mid way through the song. All I’ll say is make sure you mom’s crystal glassware is safe…But oh, the real gut-punches come in the heart of the record. Fall To Fly (Join Or Die) is a battle cry for the broken, hurtling forward with hooks so infectious they’ll have you air-guitaring through rush hour traffic as Judas croaks ‘Annihilate’ in a very sinister fashion… Judas Priest meets Crimson Glory? Yes please!Meanwhile, I Paint In Death is quite possibly the high point, with Rice pulling every stop in the book out in order to create a kind of metal smorgasbord. His solos paint fresh crimson strokes over Judas’s operatic fury in the finest tradition of the greats of US power metal. The Head Of Judas (cheeky title, that) flips the script into full-throttle rampage, a nod to the band’s thrash heritage but elevated by those LaRocque-mixed off-kilter melodies that linger like a bad (good) dream. More Than Pain and My Love Is Hate tangle love and loathing in a duet of despair, the former a heads-down rager that erupts into riff Armageddon, the latter a venomous valentine built for igniting mid-afternoon Festival fields Europe wide. Fire Bird soars on wings of flame, all churning choruses and Gleason’s impeccable fills, before Our Elegant Demon drags you under with its brutally hypnotic close—beguiling, yes, but leaving you energised, like you’ve survived the ritual and come out sharper. Fans of the proggier side of Metal Church and Overkill will love this closer.Kill Ritual have always flirted with the shadows of prog and power, but In My Head is where they fully embrace the abyss and make it their plaything. It’s uncompromising, urgent, and—dare I say— their most dynamic statement yet, blending the raw evolution from The Opaque and the Divine era with a maturity that screams “major league.” At fifty-ish minutes, it’s paced like a prizefight: no fat, all fire. If you’re still sleeping on these California hardliners, wake the hell up—this isn’t just their best album; it’s a declaration that American metal’s flame burns eternal, darker and brighter than ever. Crank it loud, let it burrow in, and prepare to be possessed. Your metal heart demands it!
