Bio:
Iron Savior is a German power metal band that formed in Hamburg, Germany in 1996. Following a period of several years working behind the scenes in music production, multi-instrumentalist and producer/engineer Piet Sielck joined with former Helloween bandmate Kai Hansen and then-drummer for Blind Guardian Thomen Stauch in a new project that would blend power metal with a high-concept science fiction story. The band's debut album Iron Savior introduced the story that would be told over the course of multiple albums, featuring a self-aware space vessel called the Iron Savior and its relationship to the mythical lost civilization of Atlantis.Critics have compared Iron Savior's sound and musical approach to classic heavy metal bands like Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, and Queensrÿche.Kai Hansen's presence in the band brought to the Iron Savior albums on which he appeared a style heavily influenced by Gamma Ray and Helloween.Since its inception, Iron Savior has released eight studio albums, two EPs, and two singles.Despite numerous lineup changes, Piet Sielck has continued to direct the band and is currently the only remaining founding member. On February 28, 2014, the band will release their newest album Rise of the Hero via AFM Records.
Album:
IRON SAVIOR are one of the pioneers of the traditional power metal genre and can proudly look back at almost 30 years of history. Founded by Piet Sielck (guitars, vocals) in 1996, the Hamburg, Germany based band quickly established themselves with their energizing mix of power metal and sci-fi driven lyrics. The band early albums ran out of stock, so in order to meet the demand, IRON SAVIOR — now consisting of Sielck, guitarist Joachim Küstner and a rhythm section powered by Patrick Klose (drums) and latest member Patrick Opitz (bass) — didn’t only re-record the material from their Noise Records years (1997-2004), they even added an additional doze of enthusiasm to the original songs.”Reforged : Machine World” features 2025 reinterpreted songs as well as a cover version of JUDAS PRIEST’s “Starbreaker,” skillfully bridging to IRON SAVIOR’s old tradition of frequently paying tribute to the ‘metal gods.’You have here everything from blasting outbursts to pounding headbangers to soulful anthems. This album’s benefit is its new, powerful clean production, which gives earlier songs a fresh appeal.Focusing on the late ’90s / early 2000s, Iron Savior re-recorded some blistering band classics, including “Break It Up,” originally from the debut album, and “Forevermore,” from the thunderous second album, “Unification”. Both are masterful metal anthems that reflect the soulful aspect of Iron Savior’s music.Roaring metal blasts out of the speakers after pressing the play button. “Never Say Die,” from the 2001 album “Dark Assault,” is a furious metal song that starts dramatically before turning into a sonic blast. Sielck knows how to create big, choir-based sections reminiscent of Helloween and used his talent to equip “Never Say Die” with such a brilliant chorus. Two songs from the “Interlude” EP, “Contortions of Time” and “Touching the Rainbow,” made it onto “Reforged – Machine World,” exemplifying the layered yet powerful heavy metal of Hamburg’s metal force.Last but not least, the German metal veterans have reinterpreted a song from a metal legend. “Starbreaker” by Judas Priest concludes this album. It’s a well-done version that doesn’t deviate much from the original while still sounding like Iron Savior.
