Bio:

Due to some problems, MARTYR will change its name to TYRAN. All future (re-)releases of the band will be issued under the new name.Founded in the midst of a global pandemic, TYRAN set out to bring glorious steel to the headbangers of the world. After releasing their first two demos „Highway Warriors“ and „Fists Of Iron“ in 2020 and playing their first highly praised live shows in 2023, they are now back to unleash the heavy metal fury of their full-length debut „Tyran’s Oath“.9 tracks of unrelenting, teutonic heavy metal, forged in heavy metal fire to convert you to join the cult of heavy metal outlaws. This Metal milestone will be available as Vinyl (incl. limited Edition), CD and worldwide Stream! Come and join the circle, take your oath at the altar of stone.

Album:

Debut full-length album.Heavy Metal in his purest form. This is what you get by TYRAN! In every single track you can feel the love for OUR music.Stil: Heavy Metal Release: 12.04.2024.Originally named Martyr, the band changed their name to Tyran in October 2020 to avoid confusion with bands of the same name. Prior digital releases have since applied the name change, as will represses of the first 2 EPs.If, like me, you're forever felled by Metal Inquisitor's abrupt dissolution a half-decade ago, rejoice now in the fact there's a new German stand-in for the fondly riffed interrogator, and it's simply called Tyran - not to be confused with Sweden's equally suggestible Tyrann.Hailing out of thin air, the twin guitar quintet serves up a memorable potion with its nine track debut Tyran's Oath, bringing to mind the new wave of trad metal's early twenty-first century revival, so adeptly pioneered by Wolf and said metallic questioner - two of my favourite bands. This isn't so-called, mundane "nwothm" so ironically misunderstood at times by the very heavy metal community it's destined for. No way! This is a serious guitar band for inveterate guitar fiends, so make sure to staple your socks to your pants 'cos they'll blow off once the album's deep cuts materialize with the full power of nuclear fission. The opening "Protectors Of Metal" is solid enough, but suffers minutely from that old "by-the-numbers" ailment fellow rockers often fret over and fear. However, that soon changes with "Bomber". Whether or not it's a token nod to Motorhead and Lemmy, it has that classic Judas Priest style rhythm and crunch, whilst the front man's steely caws bring to mind youthful (but still closeted) Rob Halford. As for leads, they're rapid and bunched-up like a mosher's underwear in the snake-pit. Also, the proficient axe duo has a knack for creating hot rocking riffs which simultaneously sound fresh and familiar, such as the Fatal Curse reminiscent scorcher defining breakneck staple "Fists Of Iron". Another hard knocker where the lowbrow but nasally fetching vocals, alongside melodically skipping guitars, recall Metal Inquisitor's expressive El Rojo is "Assault", which features catchy, devil-aimed shouts as well. The anthemic, mid-paced stomper "Thrill Of The Chase" evokes either Bullet, Coronary or Toxicull, all awesome acts worth an inkling of your time. The same applies to "Highway Warriors", a single apt track which, taken at face value, shows the gang's light and festive side.A further band comparison worth noting is national treasure Accept; this is apparent on "Strike Of The Whip", with its swinging groove, manly Udo-fied cries and west winded leads which incorporate old school blues - rarefied rock vibes on behalf of our Bavarian smoke breathers. Closing out this modern day gem, the slippery and razor sharp, additionally gang crowed "Riot In The Streets" and final title track wrap things up with a swift kick in the groin, pretty much the whole effect of Tyran's Oath. Here's hoping I'm not the only one to freak out over latest import and object of affectation.(If anything, I predict a follow-up to further establish their identity and style.)
