Bio:
Amulance is a heavy metal/speed/power band based out of Aurora, Illinois, founded by guitarist, Bob Luman. After several personnel changes, the classic lineup of Amulance was formed in 1986 which consisted of Bob Luman (guitars), Thom Braddish (bass), Eric Wedow (drums), Vince Varriale (guitars), and Rick Baez (vox).“The Rage Within”, a six song demo in 1986 led to the release of the album "Feel The Pain" through New Renaissance Records in 1989. Unable to tour, Eric Wedow departed in 1988. After nine months, Amulance recruited drummer, Tony Divozzo and was able to record pre-production tracks for what later came to be known as "The Aftermath" sessions before the band unceremoniously folded in early 1990."The Rage Within" was re-released in 2007 through metal label Stormspell Records on the CD titled "The Rage Within: and the Aftermath" along with six bonus tracks from "The Aftermath" pre-production sessions as well as two live video performances circa 1988 & 1989. The release of this CD found Amulance momentarily reunited and gearing up to go overseas in 2008. Divozzo pulled out of the show a month prior to the band's first overseas appearance for personal reasons. Varriale left shortly after and declined to rejoin when asked in 2009 in an attempt to again reunite the band.In 2009, drummer Ed Foltz (David Shankle Group) and guitarist Pat Cassidy were recruited in order for the band to fulfill their commitment to playing at the Headbanger's Open Air Festival (HOA) in Germany. Amulance also began working on what was intended to be a full-length CD but then changed to the "Deutschland" EP due to a lack of time; however Amulance finally made it to Germany in 2010. Upon their return to the U.S., Amulance once again went into hiatus; this time re-emerging in 2013 with news of Thom Braddish's departure from the band and the addition of bassist, Chuck Hamilton.Due to frequent conflicts with the band, August of 2013 marked the departure of Foltz. In an effort to keep the band moving forward, Amulance began pre-production work on their next studio release with the help of friends/drummers Ken Comer and Marty Gonzales. Marty eventually became Amulance’s newest member and drummer on June 24, 2014.

It is with great pleasure that we bring you the CD reissue of "The Rage Within/The Aftermath" by Chicago metal legends AMULANCE! After the double vinyl edition released a few months ago, the limited CD version has now arrived so that no one can miss out on these Chicago metal masters!Who doesn't recognize the classic album "Feel The Pain" (1989) as one of the most beloved albums by US Metal aficionados? Yet, the demo recordings present on "The Rage Within" (1987) and "The Aftermath" (1988/1989) are a key part of AMULANCE's history and, for many, the highlight of the band's career."The Rage Within... The Aftermath" comprises total of 12 songs, fully remastered for the best audio experience. A 20-page booklet with band photos, song lyrics and special liner notes.I wrote a couple of years an article about Znowhite and I realized that Illinois was a rather poor state for giving birth to Heavy Metal bands, but unfortunately I hadn’t mentioned a really strong name that comes from this land as Amulance may not be so famous or recognizable to the masses still whoever had the chance to hear any of their works in the end became a true devotee of their music. After all those who know knows that Amulance’s full length “Feel The Pain” (1989) is definitely one of the most beloved albums by US Metal fanatics. Before 7 years StormSpell Records re-released their first demo (in addition of some unreleased songs). Now Lost Realm Records comes and makes it even charmer suggestion as it reissues this 2 demo collection with new artwork cover, more extras and above all on vinyl too for the very first time. I can’t think any better way to discover such a brilliant yet unknown to many band.Ambulance which their lineup features singer Rik Baez, guitarist Bob Luman, bassist Thom Braddish, guitarist Vince Varriale and drummer Eric Wedow, has this N.W.O.B.H.M. on 45rpm pattern that makes them approachable to fans from Iron Maiden to Metallica and everything in between. Melodic when needed and definitely Thrash is totally guitar driven with top notch riffs accompanied with high pitched 80’s Metal vocals from Rick Baez (so many Dickinson vibes in his voices indeed) making a Judas Priest meets Megadeth mixture that seems so catchy for every metal head. Actually his voice range is quite wide and can find some songs closer to Speed/Power and others being 100% Thrash without losing any its quality. There are moments that Amulance will bring you in mind Helloween and some others Attacker or Liege Lord. Something that makes sense why fans of Queensryche, Realm, Lethal, Screamer, Savage Grace and Iced Earth love or will love them.As I mentioned before “The Rage Within And The Aftermath” features also demo recordings present on “The Rage Within” (1987), “The Aftertmath” (1988/1989) and some unreleased songs, and comes with a well-cared booklet with comments about every song and how they wrote it and a lot of photos too. The opening “Black Moon Rising” and “Witch’s Son” both have a Mercyful Fate feeling, “7th Son” will be loved by US Power and Speed fans while every chorus here in every song are damn catchy and memorable and the riffs upon fast riffs crescendo create a technical and effective result with “Living on the Run”, the ultra-technical “Monsters”, “Daughter’s Hell” and the Anthrax like “Body Hunter” being stand out.
