Sunstorm is an American AOR musical project, originally featuring lead vocalist Joe Lynn Turner (formerly of Rainbow), bassist/vocalist Dennis Ward, guitarist Uwe Reitenauer, drummer Chris Schmidt, (all members of the band Pink Cream 69) and keyboardist Jochen Weyer. The albums also featured artists such as Dann Huff and Jim Peterik as additional songwriters. The first album called Sunstorm was released in 2006,followed in 2009 by their second album House Of Dreams.Emotional Fire is the third release, out in 2012.On 2016, it was announced that Joe Lynn Turner would record a new Sustorm album, this time following a heavier sound, similar to another project of his called Rated X, but keeping the melodic side trademark of the project. For the album Edge of Tomorrow a new lineup was also announced with Alessandro Del Vecchio (Hardline, Voodoo Circle) on keyboards, Hammond organ, backing vocals and handling songwriting and production of the album. Other musicians are Simone Mularoni on guitars, Nik Mazzucconi on bass and Francesco Jovino (Primal Fear, Hardline) on drums. It will be released on May 13th, 2016.

Sunstorm changed its skin with the new album "Restless Fight", the third to feature lead vocalist Ronnie Romero (Rainbow, MSG, Lords of Black etc.). Romero’s debut album with Sunstorm, “Afterlife” was released in early 2021 and showcased a rejuvenation of Sunstorm's previous musical formula, mixing Melodic Rock/AOR with more '70s oriented hard rock, ala Rainbow (for which Romero performed as singer).The new line-up that backs Romero, comes from a heavy background, featuring Aldo Lonobile ( Secret Sphere, Ring Of Fire, Sweet Oblivion) on guitars, Andrea Arcangeli (DGM) on bass, Alfonso Mocerino (ex-Temperance, Virtual Simmetry) on drums and Antonio Agate (one of the most talented Italian keyboard players and arranger for symphonic orchestras, featured in countless albums) on keyboards, brings back the Sunstorm’s classic AOR/Hard Rock formula with a strongest dose of energy, reaching a more dynamic and bombastic approach.Since the inception of the new album’s production, the discussion with the new producer and songwriter Aldo Lonobile centered on the concept to keep the roots of Sunstorm’s musical style: the AOR sound of the early records that everyone wanted, but with a special attention to the 80’s way to arrange the guitars and keys in order to reach more powerful vibrations. The aim was to give a fresh appeal to the new music so that it could be the perfect foundation for Romero, that with his powerful vocal style, once again is the perfect fit to deliver the goods for the music.The result is “Restless Fight”: an album where Ronnie’s vocal acrobatics sit perfectly into Lonobile’s way to play guitars, clearly influenced by the 80’s guitar heroes such as Jake E. Lee/Steve Stevens, to name a few.“Restless Fight” stands pretty tall in its own right and Sunstorm are here to stay with a lot more to say!
