Scarlet Bandit's debut album...Late Night City Feeling Edition with 6 bonus tracks and with another cover.The world’s debut album Lose Your Blues hits shelves on July 5, 2024.Scarlet Bandit hail from the USA, California to be precise (and it shows in their music), and are made up of the trio Jade Vitriol, Ash Ross and Uriel Sebastian. Formed in 2023, the band categorise themselves as glam punk, hair metal and even hard rock, and Lose Your Blues is their first album after a series of singles and EPs. And you only have to look at the band's official photos to see that they're an emo-goth band, glam rock indeed, with excessive make-up a bit like Kiss. The artwork already follows the band's editorial line, with a provocative cover in shades of pink and purple that attracts the eye as much as it repels it. The band also states loud and clear: ‘No sampled drums, no synth programming, 100% pure rock’. Does that sound like the kind of thing you'd expect from a band? Well, no, dear readers, Lose Your Blues is nothing of the sort. It's more like a kind of commercial punk rock straight out of the 90s, The Offspring period, so much so that the tracks sound like The Offspring. All the songs could have appeared on a teenage comedy from that era, such as American Pie, so perfectly does the music fit in with this type of film.The guitars have a real bite, the drums are very present (the drummer hits his drums like hell) and the vocals are very clean. It's fun to listen to, there's no downtime, but the project is far from transcendent, and even if it's a bit repetitive, you'll want to go back to it, hence my first sentence: is it genius or a sham? While many listeners will politely ignore the band and their Lose Your Blues, others, like me, will ask themselves this question and, in the end, have a good time with Scarlet Bandit, hoping that the next part of the project will see the band surpass themselves a little more. Time will tell, they're still young.
