Former DEAD MAN'S HAND and BULLET TRAIN guitarist Jack the Riffer starts his new project 2019 in Wetzlar. After various line-up changes, the rhythm guitarist manages to gather four excellent musicians who have both musical experience and the true Heavy Metal spirit. The band structure initially forms the guitar fraction. As lead guitarist, Pascal Lorenz (e.g. Ex-OSCURA, Ex-CORBIAN) is the perfect addition and writes the songs for the first album together with Jack. Michael Kaspar, who has had success with SQUEALER (including tour support with JUDAS PRIEST), occupies the post on bass. Martin Winter (Ex-SQUAELER), who has a powerfull and groovey drumstyle, can be won as a drummer.The search for a suitable singer will lead to success in early 2020. With the engagement of Rio Ullrich, they were able to win a first-class metal singer who gave GENERATION STEEL the necessary metal attitude and vocal quality.The quintet starts the new decade with breathtaking speed. There are tons of songs that are refined with the enigmatic lyrics by Rio Ullrich and presented on the debut album "The Eagle Will Rise". In March 2020, the band can get a record deal from PURE STEEL RECORDS. "The Eagle Will Rise" will be released worldwide at the end of the year. The artistic production of this album is carried out by none other than ACCEPT guitarist Uwe Lulis. In addition, intensive work is already being done on the live presence, next year the GENERATION STEEL will be on the festival stages!The new generation doesn't need fancy, it needs heavy metal - honest, straight forward and full steam ahead!

After their debut album, the new teutonic metal album by GENERATION STEEL follows now! "Lionheart" takes us into a world of self-liberation and inner strength. Produced by Uwe Lulis (Accept) you can expect 10 crushing metal songs. The artwork was designed by Gyula Hazancsák. An album that lifts the spirit and frees the soul - that's "Lionheart"!When a band that claims to do heavy metal is up for review, it can mean many things. With GENERATION STEEL, the matter is quickly clarified. This is music for people who wear frocks, are sceptical about carefully crafted hairstyles and need at most a string or choir pad in the background on keyboards that sounds as if it was recorded on a 20-year-old Casio keyboard. The kind of heavy metal that is deeply 80s, has some audible overlap with thrash, teutonic and speed metal and keeps melodies as unpronounced as possible, thanks in part to expressive vocals that need to be expressive rather than 100% spot on.This is exactly what GENERATION STEEL is, more precisely their new and second album "Lionheart", which fortunately was again produced by Uwe Lulis (ACCEPT). He knows this kind of metal, of course, and so it's no wonder that the record sounds very decent and could have used a bit more pressure in the drums at most.The ten songs are played with absolute confidence, with consistently good riff quality, decent space for the bass and a lot of fun in the middle parts and solo parts. The vocals are versatile, although subjectively one style of singing is more effective than the other.And the songwriting? Well, it's definitely in the mode of the genre described above, and very stable in it. Melodic, but not more sophisticated than necessary, riffy, heavy and straightforward. Up- and midtempo are expertly implemented, on the end track the melody line can be a bit longer, on other tracks it's enough if a chorus consists of two (sometimes a bit often) repeated words.What is noticeable in a few songs is that there is room for improvement as far as the linking of individual song elements is concerned, for example in the opener "Baptized In Sorrow". Not only does the track "Lionheart" open the way it shouldn't (without warning from 0 to 50), but it also seems as if the verse, bridge and chorus were written rather independently of each other and then simply strung together. Doesn't really seem coherent as a complete song and yet it happens on a few tracks on the record.Conclusion: Truer no-bullshit heavy metal of the old school, not vegan and made of real leather. That's "Lionheart" by GENERATION STEEL. And those who find that quite attractive and also have an urgent need for few keyboards and no operatic vocals will find what they need here - with a little room for improvement, but where there is room for improvement, there is room for fry forks!
