The Flower Kings are a Swedish progressive rock band formed in 1994 by guitarist and singer-songwriter Roine Stolt. The group began as Stolt's touring band to support his third solo album The Flower King. They continued performing after the tour and have gone on to become one of the most prolific studio recording units in progressive rock, having released nearly twenty hours of music spread across twelve studio albums. Their music is similar to early symphonic progressive rock groups such as Yes, marked by sharp dynamic changes, polyrhythms, heavy bass, vocal harmonies, abstract and occasionally nonsensical lyrics, and extended song lengths.

In their nearly 30-year career as a band, Swedish Prog-Rock legends THE FLOWER KINGS return with their 16th studio album, “Look At You Now“. This record is all about vintage vibes, with a warm and inviting sound that’s reminiscent of legendary and classic 70s albums. And forget about processed, metallic sounds – “Look At You Now” is all about that analog feel that will transport you to a bygone era of rock.Limit their music to one genre is insufficient. Melodic progressive rock with epic-length-and-breadth tracks could perhaps be a general umbrella. But so many other things are happening under “Look At You Now”: it’s at times classic rock, at times musical (for some reason, Roine Stolt’s vocals on certain tracks always give me massive Jesus Christ Superstar vibes, while on other tracks I channel Queen in full force), at times space rock; it’s psychedelia-infused, technically challenging, multilayered extravaganza.You get rock, you get fusion, you get complex synth mixes reminiscent of 90s TV themes, you even get hints of Elizabethan music evoking images of whimsical court jesters in colorful costumes. And the best part is that you sometimes get many of those within the same song, since a TFK track rarely starts and ends as the same thing.
