Tower was formed in 2015 and had with ‘Tower’ their self-titled debut in the record stores one year later. With ‘Shock to the System’ the successor is ready and waiting to be discovered by the metal community. A total of ten songs have found a place on the tracklist, all true headbanging anthems, captured in a 39-minute running time.Trad Metal outfit Tower will release their new album, their second, Shock To The System, via Cruz Del Sur Music this November 2021.The album was recorded in May and June at ArtifactAudio in Ridgewood, New York, with Sasha Stroud serving as co-producer and engineer. The album’s cover was created by Morgan Jesse Lappin.Tower (who are completed by the guitar tandem of James Danzo and Zak Penley and drummer James Jones) only has one previous full-length studio album to their credit, 2016’s self-titled outing. While their 2019 Tomorrow & Yesterday EP featured four songs of rocked-up metal, Shock To The System takes Tower’s sound to the next level.

The guitars are wickedly distorted as they play fat, fuzzy and reverbed riff after riff while singer Sarabeth Linden belts out the lyrics like the second coming of Ann Wilson from Heart. Tower plays with speed and aggression on headbangers like "Blood Moon", "The Black Rose" and "Powder Keg" and expertly weaves '70s proto-metal vibes throughout the album with even a little doom on the slower paced and menacing "Prince of Darkness". It took a couple of spins for Shock to the System to worm its way into my brain (the title was a little prescient, perhaps?) but once it did, the hooks were in deep, and I just want to keep spinning it over and over. If you love early '80s metal and the late '70s stuff from Priest and Sabbath, you will love Tower, too.
