Bio:
Wishing Well is a hard rock/AOR band from Germany, that was formed in 1984 under the name Rough Roots. The band split up in 1998. Not to be confused with Wishing Well from Saarland and Wishing Well from Bavaria.Founded under the name Rough Roots, this was originally a power rock band with a characteristic Hammond sound (Deep Purple and Led Zeppelin sent their regards). As time went on, the Hammond was replaced by late eighties keyboards. With two female singers at the front, there were also vocal changes. The proof can still be heard today on CD (Wishing Well - Little Dreamer, 1992).There has been a successor band for some time now, which has several of the old Wishing Well songs in its repertoire.
Album:
Debut full-length album and also last. This is one of the best kept secrets for collectors of this numerous private aor/melodic rock releases from Germany. Fantastic female fronted (2 female vocalists) melodic rock of the highest quality class. Can be compared to bands like Scarlet, Paranoja or Bad Sister. For sure much better than an overrated indie act like Grex. All of the tracks are memorable, ultracatchy and with lots of great keyboard addition. All the included musicians were doing a great job. Unfortunately this is an impossible to find release - but highly recommended to any collector of this German indie stuff.
Line Up:
Tina Thormählen - vocals - See also: ex-Apyron
Klau Heft - guitar
Walter Kohler - bass
Michael Stirm - drums
Klaus Schmid - keyboards
+ vocals – Jeanette Dauble, Susanne Heinz
