Bio:
Stuttgart, Germany's Debauchery were conceived in the year 2000 by vocalist and guitarist Thomas "The Bloodbeast" Gurrath (aka "Blood God"/"Bluttgott"), initially using the charming name of Maggotc**t before making the change, and releasing a first demo tape, simply called Zombie, the following year. A death metal band by trade, Debauchery displayed an acute taste for the macabre on their 2003 debut album, Kill Maim Burn, where Gurrath, bassist C**tkiller, and drummer Wargrinder indulged in a veritable lyrical bloodbath steeped in war and gore — a trend that was reflected in the band's promo photos and stage shows, and would persist across ensuing albums like Rage of the Bloodbeast (2004), Torture Pit (2005), Back in Blood (2007), Continue to Kill (2008), and Rockers & War (2009). Ironically, it was revealed in 2010 that Gurrath was otherwise employed as a high-school philosophy teacher by day, but had to resign his position when school officials found out about his parallel musical activities and forced him to choose between the two. Naturally, he chose Debauchery.
Album:
The happy hour has just begun! Truly, I feel very relaxed when I’m listening to DEBAUCHERY’s music that is nothing less than Death ‘n’ Roll infused with scattered Hard Rock riffs and lyrics about death, blood and war. DEBAUCHERY have released seven full length albums and this one is their eighth release. Clearly, they are funny with the positive meaning and on top of everything they know how to produce good music.“Kings Of Carnage” is better than the previous DEBAUCHERY release that I have to admit I didn’t like it at all. This one has Hard Rock riffs and brutal vocals the way they were used during the “Back In Blood” era. “Kings Of Carnage” is a typical DEBAUCHERY album with good moments like “Demonslayer”, “Let There Be Blood”, “Kings Of Carnage”, “Blood God Kills”, “Murdersquad” and “The Last Crusade”. Every song is characterized by Death ‘n’ Roll riffs and some scattered Thrash references here and there that they will remind you of ENTOMBED and GOREFEST or you can just imagine AC/DC with brutal vocals, while “The Last Crusade” leans closer to VOIVOD. The album contains some covers too; “Fast As A Shark” (ACCEPT), “Animal (Fuck Like A Beast)” (W.A.S.P.), “Body Count’s In The House” (BODY COUNT) and “Man In Black” (Johnny Cash). The first ones are remarkable but the Johnny Cash cover is not that serious. The main advantage of this band is making good music with simplicity, but there is also a disadvantage here pointing that DEBAUCHERY’s music sometimes is a little bit confusing, standing between Metal and Rock. One more note: the ending track “Debauchery Motherfuckin’ Family” is a Thrash / heavy dynamite, being the excellent closing of a very good album. Death ‘n’ Roll!!!
