This is the singer’s first appearance in the recording studio since 1998. Currie also lent her unique vocal talents on the Shameless original, “Dear Mum” that was written by Alexx Michael & Andy Brings. In addition, the band recorded the timeless Alice Cooper classic, “I’m Eighteen” with vocalist, Stevie Rachelle.Since their 1999 debut, Shameless have been establishing themselves as a band that doesn’t give a damn that the 80s are over – they continue to turn out good-natured, party rock and roll, regardless of shifting musical tends and styles.

Album:

This is a very good sleaze debut release from 1999.Total old Sunset Strip sound! Pretty Boy Floyd meets Tuff! This is what sleazy glam metal is supposed to be about.I listen to this and I am transported back to a different time and place. It has a cheap tinny sound quality to it. It is however fun, fun, fun. "Backseat Action" "All the girls but U" are my fave tracks.A totally great album, almost btter than Queen 4 a day.Anyhow, Stevie lent his voice to some of these tracks, which also includes collaboration with Steve Summers from Pretty Boy Floyd and Bruce Kullick (ex-Kiss). What you get is a pretty decent glam CD, much in the vain of PBF or early Poison. If that's your sound, then this CD is worth picking up. I guess this guy is German or something, as he's got a following in Europe. As you know, glam kind of got stamped to death by Nirvana in North America, but I must say it is nice to listen to a fun, party-rock CD once in awhile to remember that life is still about a good time, not crying in your soup.

Album:

Produced by Gilby Clarke (Guns N' Roses) and led by vocalists Steve "Sex" Summers, Stevie Rachelle (Tuff) there is little doubt why 'Queen 4 A Day' is songwriter and bassist Alexx Michael's most successful album to date. Guest musicians include Bruce Kulick (Kiss) and Kari Kane.Awesome music, loud guitars and great vocals. You will be listening non stop!!I never imagined to find an album like these in the year 2002, I started spinning the record and got hooked to it since the first listening, imagine this: Tuff vocalist/Pretty boy floyd vocalist, and a song provided by Gene Simmons, all songs are great in the vein of any 80's big hair band, good sound. This is pure and undiluted glam rock. The album is a huge step up from their debut album.Queen For A Day has everything a glamster could want for - much better production (from Keri Kelli and Gilby Clarke), better songs, better singing and bigger and better sleaze rock anthems. As for comparisons, you name it - Poison, Tuff, Motley Crue, Kiss, Bulletboys...they're all here. The vocals of Steve Summers are just great. There's an even balance of raspiness, power and melody. Most of the songs rock out, but there is the odd ballad places every 3 or 4 tracks to break the pace of the album up, which is an excellent move.Guest appearances on the album include Gilby Clarke, Tracii Guns, Brian Tichy, Steve Rilley, Jani Lane and Eric Singer.Add to that a bonus interactive area with behind the scene's video footage and a music video for the single Queen For A Day and you have the perfect glam rock CD package.BOTTOM LINE: A seriosuly good glam hard rock album for all fans of the genre. The guest list includes most glam acts on the planet anyway, so I can't imagine any sleaze rock fan being without this album. Even better than the great debut album. Please note, the essential rating on this album goes out to glam fans! Casual observers or fans of the more traditional straigh ahead rock release might not get this at all. Glam fans however will...big time!

Album:

Shameless is the glam / heavy-rock project of the German bass player Alexx Michael and the singer Steve Summers (Pretty Boy Floyd), to which he joins as guest Stevie Rachelle (singer of Tuff). That said, do not assume that this is a vulgar side-project. Indeed, "Splashed" is Shameless's 3rd studio album and follows on from "Backstreet anthems" (1999) and "Queen 4 a day" (2000).The first thing that challenges is the visual of the cover highlighting a super hot chick (the kind of chick we would like to meet at every corner of the street ;-)). But the doubt can invade the disc buyer: what if it was only a gimmick, or a cover-up? No! Because "Splashed" turns out to be a great album with real quality compositions. If the influences of Mötley Crüe and Poison are perceptible, Shameless nevertheless manages to develop a repertoire which is personal and, above all, very inspired. What is more, the group has harnessed itself to the production of the album. The songs, quite varied, are generally fun, catchy, sometimes airy, with a slight hint of subversion (but not too much). We never tire of listening to the candid "Don't hesitate", very rock n'roll; "Love game" and its intro riff directly inspired by sleazy-rock stamped 80's; but still the insolent and ferocious "Toy human", whose words openly mock contemporary society; "Change your world" and its energetic refrain supported by a rhythmic section which fires up the fire.Other good surprises include the sad and moving piano ballad "She's not comin 'home"; "Operator", an acoustic ballad a little reminiscent of "Every rose has its thorn" (by Poison), but whose refrain makes you want to jam with your neighbors to compensate. And how not to mention "U&I", title released from who knows where whose calm beginning suggests that it is a languid ballad before surprising the listener by assaulting it with heavy and venomous riffs. Steve Summers, in his own way, gives impetus to the compos with his vocal timbre halfway between Vince Neil and Stephen Pearcy; while Stevie Rachelle operates in a slightly rougher register as evidenced by the 2 titles on which he sings: "I love the way U make me sick", punchy at will; and "Getaway", a heady mid-tempo. The guitarist B.C / Keri Kelli, who came to lend a hand to the project, shows solid play and favors efficiency over superfluous demonstration, both in acoustics and rhythm and solo.No matter how hard I look for the little beast, I really can't find any major flaws in this album. All the titles (I said: ALL) are cut for the stage. In any case, it's rudely fun to listen to an exciting / hard / glam album as exciting, full of punch and panache as this one. Without being revolutionary, Shameless has significantly more personality and attitude than many combos praised by the press. And arrives at the right time to demonstrate that the glam has not said its last word and to close the valve to the piss-vinegar which buried it too quickly."Splashed": for the pleasure of the ears AND the eyes. It's called combining business with pleasure and quality glam albums like that, I want more.

Bio:

Shameless are a hard rock glam band that was formed in the spring of 1989 by bassist Alexx “Skunk” Michael in Munich, Germany.Shameless are a hard rock and glam metal supergroup based in Munich, Germany. Although the band are based in Germany, they are notable for having numerous American rockers appearing on their albums. The original incarnation of Shameless was formed in April 1989 by bassist Alexx "Skunk" Michael. The band were relatively popular in their home town, selling out a 500 capacity club on their very first show. The vocalist left the band at the end of 1991 and they folded.Michael decided to reform Shameless in 1998 with his friend % guitarplayer BC. Alexx enlisted help from his friend, Eric Singer (drummer for KISS, Alice Cooper, Black Sabbath).Through Singer, the band hired an all-star lineup that included Bruce Kulick (KISS), Tracii Guns (L.A. Guns), Robert Sweet (Stryper), Steve “Sex” Summers (Pretty Boy Floyd), Stevie Rachelle (Tuff), Brian Tichy (Billy Idol, Whitesnake) and others to record their debut release, “Backstreet Anthems.”Produced by former Guns N’ Roses guitarist, Gilby Clarke, “Backstreet Anthems” was recorded at Studio City in Los Angeles, California. The release contained 10 tracks, including covers of “A Hard Dayz Night (The Beatles) and “Flaming Youth” (KISS).Following its release, Shameless continued to build a cult following in the hard rock underground. In January of 2000, Alexx & BC returned to Keri Kelli’s (Alice Cooper, Slash’s Snakepit) studio in Orange County, California to record their sophomore release, “Queen 4 A Day.”Keeping the successful formula of their debut release, Michael and BC once again recruited some famous guest performers including Jani Lane (Warrant), Keith Alan (Big Band Babies), Steve Riley (L.A. Guns), Bruce Kulick (KISS), Eric Singer (KISS, Alice Cooper), Stevie Rachelle (Tuff), Steve Summers (Pretty Boy Floyd) and others. Shameless recorded 13 tracks but only 12 of them were used for the album. The last track (a cover of the KISS classic “Tomorrow” was used for a KISS Tribute CD and not included on the final version of the album.“Queen 4 A Day” was released in the summer of 2000 via MTM Music in Europe. The band toured Germany and the Netherlands in support of “Queen 4 A Day” including several performances where the band was joined onstage by Bruce Kulick (KISS).The group’s third release, “Splashed” was released in the summer of 2002. This time the band made a conscious decision to focus on a cohesive line-up that included Alexx Michael (bass), BC (guitar), Stevie Rachelle & Steve Summers (vocals) , and Mike Fasano (drums).“Splashed” carried on the Shameless spirit of real rock and roll while having good time. The release contained 11 original tracks with a bonus DVD of material from their 2000 tour, including a promotional video for the lead single, “Don’t Hesitate.”Following the release of “Splashed,” the band set out on a sold out tour of England, Germany, Holland, Austria & Italy . The band recorded several shows during the United Kingdom leg of the tour, and subsequently put out their first live release, “Super Hardcore Show.”It would be three years before Shameless returned to record their next studio release in december of 2006, “Famous 4 Madness”. Bassist, Alexx Michael and guitarist, BC were once again joined by vocalists, Steve Summers & Stevie Rachelle. “Famous 4 Madness” saw the band returning to fine form and enlisting help from outside musicians including Phil Lewis (L.A. Guns), Jani Lane (Warrant), John Corabi (The Scream, Motley Crue), Keri Kelli (Alice Cooper), Kari Kane (Pretty Boy Floyd), Eric Singer (KISS, Alice Cooper). In support of “Famous 4 Madness,” the band embarked on an European tour that took the band to Spain, Switzerland, Germany, Italy and the United Kingdom. Shameless continued to tour through 2009-2010 in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Sweden, Belgium, France and Sweden. The band returned in December 2011, with a new studio release, “Dial S For Sex.” Featuring the two very successful songs, “Summertime Goodbye,” with vocalist Stevie Rachelle and guitarist Chris Holmes (W.A.S.P.) and a cover of the Katy Perry song“Hot N’ Cold” with Steve Summers on vocals.Shameless have recently completed recording their sixth studio release, “Beautiful Disaster.” The first single “Forever Ends Today” features Steve Summers (vocals), Tod T Burr(drums) along with BC & Michael Thomas(guitar) and Alexx Michael (bass). “Beautiful Disaster” contains 10 new original Shameless classics along with a cover of the T Rex / Marc Bolan classic “Life’s A Gas” featuring former The Runaways singer, Cherie Currie.

Album:

The band recorded several shows during the United Kingdom leg of the tour, and subsequently put out their first live release, “Super Hardcore Show.”Anyone who still passionately makes such an outdated music like glam / sleaze rock must either have a tit or really love this music. The latter certainly applies to SHAMELESS. The band around the German Alexx Michael is recruited from a number of well-known rockers who have played almost all of them in the USA in appropriate combos. Michael can refer to sidekicks from bands like TESLA, KISS, STRYPER, TUFF, PRETTY BOY FLOYD and plenty more. After three studio discs and various songs on some (KISS) tributes and samplers, the boys are now releasing a live disc, recorded on last year's tour of England.“Super hardcore show” is framed by three new studio recordings, more precisely by the snotty opener “Daydream believer” (MONKEES cover), a brisk version of “Start me up” (ROLLING STONES) and a piano version of their own ballad “She`s not coming home ". The 10 live songs are natural and raw, so nobody is bothered by playing mistakes or whistling noises. On the contrary, you can almost feel the energy on and in front of the stage, you can smell the stench of leather and sweat, of hairspray and cheap perfume. It sounds like MÖTLEY CRÜE, FASTER PUSSYCAT or GUNS `N` ROSES. The own highlights such as "Steal the girls", "Queen for a day", "Lonely night in paradise" or "What`s going on" (could also have been on MÖTLEY CRÜE's "Girls girls girls" and blends excellently into " Smoking in the boys room ”) are rocked into the cheering and screaming crowd with covers from CHEAP TRICK's“ I want you to want me ”and the bouncer“ Rock`n`Roll all night ”(KISS). And because it is so beautiful there is a video of the concert where you can admire "I want you to want me", "She`s not coming home" and "Queen for a day" as a digicam recording. The "Super hardcore show" is not a musical work of art, but it is a cool piece of sleaze, glam and rock'n'roll. For friends of that music, "Super hardcore show" is an entertaining album on which everything is raw and real, the sound, the songs and the video. An all-star glam project that you hardly notice that a band has moved through the clubs here that some musicians in the USA have rocked in large stadiums.

Album:

Sleaze it up, dude! This is the new CD by these shameless Glam Rockers, and SHAMELESS tries hard to prove that Glam/Sleaze Rock is not dead after all. If you feel the same way, you won't be disappointed - even if the album turns out to be too typical. On the other hand, enemies of the genre will have another good reason to cry out 'bout the decadence of 'hard' Rock music, right?Every such band is influenced by the 'ghost' of KISS. That's fair. SHAMELESS has always taken its music to an extended level; so did founding member Alexx Michael thought, I guess, in Munich back in 1989. Then, he came up with the proper PR plan, since Eric Singer (KISS, ALICE COOPER, GARY MOORE) gave a great deal of helping hand while GUNS N ROSES guitarist produced 1999's Backstreet Anthems debut album. A parade of stars has occurred since then, in all SHAMELESS albums. Check it out : Steve Rachelle (TUFF), Steve Summers (PRETTY BOY FLOYD), Tracii Guns/Steve Riley (L.A. GUNS), Bruce Kulick (KISS, UNION), Robert Sweet (STRYPER), Jani Lane (WARRANT), John Corabi (MOTLEY CRUE) and the list goes on.This year's Famous 4 Madness sees SHAMELESS heading to the usual direction. Pure American Sleaze/Glam Rock all the way. Philthy guitars, booze-d solos, messy rhythm section, drunk vocals and the expected KISS-meets-VAIN-meets-STEVE STEVENS-meets-PRETTY BOY FLOYD-meets-MOTLEY CRUE-meets-THE ALMIGHTY-meets-GUNS 'N' ROSES-meets-DOGS D'AMOUR. The album is rather typical (as said previously) featuring a set of a songs rollin' really smooth but with no exaggerating feeling.Produced by RATT/ALICE COOPER/WARRANT axeman Keri Kelli, Famous 4 Madness draws the line between Sleaze/Glam Rock and… Sleaze/Glam Rock. Really focused, huh? Not bad, but nothing exciting. U can see this CD/band as a good reason for beloved musicians having fun jammin' together.

Album:

The end of 2011 brought with a special treat to glam rock fans, super group Shameless released what is being called the 15 song EP called Dial S for Sex. Originally formed in April of 1989 by bass player Alexx "Skunk" Michael, Shameless features many different and talented artists from the hard rock scene of the 80's and early 90's. Musicians from Kiss, Tuff, Pretty Boy Floyd, Big Bang Babies, Stryper, L.A. Guns, Warrant and Guns and Roses have all contributed to Shameless. The new CD comes packed with 15 tracks. This CD would definitely enhance any glam rock lovers collection. The music, vocal style and lyrics hearken back to the sounds of the late 80's early 90's. While this came out at the very end of 2011, I am going to make this really a 2012 release and state that the bar has been set. Any other CD that comes out this year will have to beat the love I currently have for this one. This should really be very good: a veritable banquet of stars feasting together at the table marked glam. But oh no, they go and fuck it all up with fourteen tracks of some of the blandest music that the eighties ever spunked up in a cum soaked hooker named Despair. This was meant to be an EP with only a handful of new stuff but it's full of covers and re-recordings to make it up to an LP (six tracks from their own 'Splashed' album. Why?). Shameless are Alexx Michael's brainchild and have been around for a lot longer than you would have thought and, through their revolving door of stars, this fifth studio album is served up for our pleasure. To think that these players have formed or been part of the scene since day one and their CVs include Tuff, Pretty Boy Floyd, W.A.S.P., Alice Cooper, Beautiful Creatures and LA Guns just makes it all even worse. Maybe it's because of these bands that I had such high hopes for this disc?Kerri Fuckin' Kelli - what happened, dude? I remember seeing this badger-haired genius way back in the day with LA Guns, Adler and the like and he was a born star, destined to shred and grow, stealing the limelight of the so-called bigger stars and, having ended up with Alice Cooper, he pretty much got his just rewards....but where are the licks of sex? The shred of parties? The riffs of doom? Not on this disc for sure......but it should be noted that the decent songs are all part, if not all, Kelli compositions.Stevie Rachelle comes out of this pretty well unscathed and, with his vocals on only five songs, he does a pretty decent job as a Bret Michaels stand-in. Tuff's 'Summertime Goodbye' appears twice (again, why?) and with Chris Holmes making an appearance, it's decent enough. The Kerri Kelli written 'Innocence Is No Excuse' is worthy of a mention - the best track on here. And then we come to the poor man's Taime Downe - Steve Summers. I've got to admire a man that's made a 20-odd year career out of pretty much one album and he only enhances his 'reputation' here.To include the Katy Perry song 'Hot & Cold' twice on here is ballsy, once was certainly more than enough, and when I tell you that the Perry version rocks way harder, you'll get my point. The second version features a female singer called Lauren Breen (no idea?) and simply sounds like a contestant on American Idol - I can see the costumes and glitter now as she flaunts some leg and smiles doe-eyed at the camera but wait....it's still way better than the Summers led version. So, to compensate for that pop gem they give us the Elvis standard 'Always On My Mind' and they are simply not good. Not good at all. You'll prefer the Pet Shop Boys version and I'm not joking. I'd actually ask you to download those two tracks, just to share some of the shame I'm now carrying around with me after hearing them.In fairness to Steve Summers, the Kelli written track 'Operator' is a pretty good stab at a Poison track and he carries it off well, and 'Toy Human' is another track where he sounds okay but as we've heard them before on 'Splashed' do we really need to hear them again? Many will be interested in the Jani Lane featured track, 'Far Away'. The old PBF song (originally on PBF's 'Tonight....' album, then again on Shameless's 'Splashed' album) is given an acoustic makeover and is more than a fair addition to any Jani Lane remembrance.A reminder of a great voice lost early. To call this album 'Dial S For Sex' and then make it the blandest, least sexy album of pelvic thrusting for quite a while just makes the whole package even more confusing than it already is (they sing Happy Birthday at the end as a 'secret' track for a reason I'm sure...). I've no idea realistically who's in charge and therefore who carries the can for quality control, song choice and the package as a whole. There's only so many Tuff and PBF songs that can be dredged out and re-touched, so it looks like whatever hold Alexx Michael has on the two frontmen must surely be coming to an end? I expected better and I wanted better but it just didn't deliver like I believe it should have. The Wham Bam, Thank you Glam just isn't here and that's what's really disappointing about it.When they're good, they're Tuff, thanks to Rachelle and Kelli, and when they're bad you realise that Pretty Boy Floyd got lucky and that Poison were simply geniuses. And that's saying something.

Album:

For Shameless creator bassist Alexx "Skunk" Michael it will always be 1989. There will always be Sunset Strip melodic hard/glam rock, big hair, more eyeliner, chicks and more chicks. With long time cohort guitarist BC, and also vocalists Stevie Rachelle and Steve Summers, guitarist Keri Kelli, and drummer Tod T Burr, the international band returns with their sixth album, Beautiful Disaster, another platter of Eighties glam rock. And it's a pretty good one at that, having all the ingredients that go into glam melodic hard rock: strong melodies, catchy refrains, vocals which swerve between the smooth and a sneer, a loud rhythm section, and big guitar solos, all wrapped up in punk street level swagger. Greed Is God kickstarts the album and delivers it all. The later Train To Hell, not so much, merely a pounding metal song, but it still fits.In between and to the end, there's some good stuff. Dear Mum, featuring The Runaways' Cherie Curie, and Rock n Roll Girls sound like glam-sized modifications of Ramones punk n roll, only with guitar solos. Forever Ends Today, the first single, is simply too damn catchy thanks to hooks in the riffs and refrain. The ballad You're Not Comin' Home is driven by some sweet piano and a symphonic layer. Like previous albums, Shameless does some cover tunes. This time it's Alice Cooper's I'm Eighteen and T.Rex's Life's a Gas. The former is rearranged for piano and orchestra giving it an epic feel, less hard rock, more symphonic. The latter features Curie once more and strays little from the proto-glam rock feel that Marc Bolan and crew pioneered. While intentionally and shamlessly derivative of the genre, Shameless' Beautiful Disaster is solid and entertaining glam melodic hard rock. Recommended.

Album:

To write that I was excited about this upcoming release is a bit of an understatement. Anticipation aside for a band made up of many veterans of the scene since the 80’s and current, I have to admit I was ignorant of the bands long ago inception in 1989 and continued creation of music. I had checked out some of their cover songs over the years but in all honesty I always regarded Shameless as a supergroup of musicians coming together to do just that, cover a song from an influential band or even more fun, a current charting pop song (check out the Katy Perry cover of “Hot & Cold” which I love both the cover and the original yes I do!). So just who are the musicians? Stevie Rachelle is a regular along with founder Alexx Michael, past guest appearances from Phil Lewis & Tracii Guns, Eric Singer & Bruce Kulick, Cherie Currie, Chris Holmes, Gilby Clarke, Jani Lane and more..On The Filthy 7, their 7th release, we are provided 11 tracks for our listening pleasure.Beginning with “How the Story Goes” sure is a great sounding start to me! The tone of the guitar is awesome. Very reminiscent of the UK Glam movement a la 70’s. Backing vocals just perfect. Love this song!Shameless The Filthy 7Next, we are given a cover of a song I loved back in the 80’s, Billie Ocean’s “Get Out of My Dreams, Get into My Car”. Terrific rendition.“I Don’t Wanna Know” is another strong song. Up-tempo drum beat and more melodic backing vocals.“Can’t Get Enough” reminds me of a 70’s KISS song style and structure all over. 4 songs in and 4 really good tunes!Track #5 slows down for a fairly standard slow tune sound. Not bad, I am fairly indifferent to “It Can’t Be That Bad”.“Serial Cheater” I am starting to loose interest. Perhaps it is the lyrical content, but the music is not doing it for me either, I may be getting too old for these lyrics.Once again, I will blame my age for lack of interest in “WTF R U”. Ok, back on track with a great starting riff to “Love Game” which is much more interesting musically than previous 2 tracks. I like it.The final 3 tracks are good with some cool bass lines and sounds all around. The release definitely falls off for me after the first 4 tracks. That said 4 really good songs, 2 songs I don’t have any interest in and 5 decent songs that I would listen to again is fine with me and I would recommend the release if sleazy, glam hard rock n’ roll is your thing. It is mine and this is served just fine.
