Heavy/power metal band from Duisburg, Krefeld in Germany, founded in 1986.The original line up was Oliver Müller on bass, Achim Schneider on guitar, Wolfgang Jansen on vocals and Thomas Stauch on drums.Not to be confused with the heavy metal band Heaven Ward.Heavenward was founded in 1986. The original line-up consisted of Oliver Müller (bass), Achim Schneider (guitar), Wolfgang Jansen (vocals) and Thomen Stauch (drums). Thomen Stauch was with Blind Guardian for over 20 years, then played with Coldseed and Savage Circus, among others, and is now with Serious Black. He was replaced in Heavenward by Thomas Kelleners, founder and current drummer of the German progressive melodic rock band Blacklands.In 1991, after the release of the first album Within These Dreams, the line-up was changed again. Stefan Kessel was still the only founding member at this time. The newcomers were Andreas Rippelmeier (guitar), Marc Schulz (bass) and Guido Gallus (drums).The second album A Future Worth Talking About was released in 1992 and was particularly successful in Japan.Not much happened after that, as each musician went their own way. Stefan Kessel and Guido Gallus ended up in the German metal band Centaur, with whom they produced two albums: Perception and God Complex. After the desired success failed to materialise there, Heavenward decided to give it another go. This time they were joined by Marco Grasshoff (also ex-Centaur) on keyboards.Heavenward have been writing new material again since 2001.The band currently consists of Stefan Kessel (vocals), Oliver Müller (bass), Guido Gallus (drums), Marco Grasshoff (keyboards) and Andreas Rippelmeier (guitar).

Following the 1991 release of HEAVENWARD's debut album, Within These Dreams, vocalist Stefan Kessel constructed an all-new lineup consisting of former members of the band Vallyz—guitarist Andreas Rippelmeier, Guido Gallus on drums, and bassist Marc Schulz. This formation would go on to create the group's sophomore effort, A Future Worth Talking About?—an eight-song outing of superb, hard-edged power metal—issued in 1992 by the Inline Music imprint, Gorgon Records (which would also go on to release material by acts such as Skeptic Sense and Myrmidion Creed).Unfortunately, meager promotion and the "grunge phase" diminished the album's hopes for success. By 1993, HEAVENWARD had gone their separate ways...But now, over 25 years later, Divebomb Records is prepared to shed new light on A Future Worth Talking About? Remastered by Jamie King at The Basement Recording and packaged alongside a typically loaded booklet, this expanded edition of the disc will include six rare bonus tracks—some of which were culled from early-2000s HEAVENWARD reunion sessions for what was originally intended to be shaped into a third full-length album.
