The Ides of March has been my musical family since we formed way back in 1964. Larry Millas, Bob Bergland, Mike Borch, the Core Four as we call ourselves have played 1000s of shows through years on bills with some of the biggest in the world- Led Zepplin, the Grateful Dead, Janis Joplin and the Allman Brotthers to name just a few. Our 1970 smash, Vehicle flew to the top of the charts and can still be heard around the world today.With the addition of Scott May On Hammond organ and the Ides brass we are about to release our first album in 10 years- Play On. And that’s what we will be doing for years to come- Play On and On and On!
James Michael "Jim" Peterik (born November 11, 1950) is an American musician and songwriter. He is best known as the founder of the band Survivor and as vocalist and songwriter of the hit song "Vehicle", by the Ides of March. He also co-wrote the anthem "Eye of the Tiger", the theme from the motion picture Rocky III.Peterik has co-written songs for the likes of 38 Special, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Blackhawk, Cheap Trick, Sammy Hagar, Cathy Richardson, Van Zant, Brian Wilson, REO Speedwagon, and the Beach Boys. He is currently fronting melodic rock band Pride of Lions, smooth-jazz project Jim Peterik's Lifeforce, and has a regular series of yearly concert performances with an all-star cast as World Stage. Jim is also active as a producer and mentor to young, developing talent.

His songwriting has garnered Jim a Grammy, a People s Choice Award, and an Oscar nomination.Now comes the Ides new album “Play On” with 14 fresh songs, drawing on the wide variety of genres the Ides have mastered over their 55 year career. These vocals are heard in every ‘Play On’ song.Hit producer Fred Mollin drew the best out of the 8-man group which includes the four original members, who came together in 1964.The Ides chose to invite several of their Superstar friends to celebrate their 55-year musical journey. Mark Farner, original lead singer and guitarist of Grand Funk, lends his distinctive voice and lead guitar to the hard-rocking ‘Swagger’.Blues superstar guitarist Joe Bonamassa weaves tasty licks throughout ‘The Cover Up’.Cathy Richardson of Jefferson Starship shares an impassioned duet with Jim on ‘Blue Storm Rising’, while Bo Bice of American Idol and Blood Sweat & Tears fame tears it up on ‘Love Or Something Like It’.David Pack, former lead singer of Ambrosia, pairs with Jim for an exquisite duet on ‘A Song About Mary’. Sax phenom Mindi Abair adds her unique style to ‘Friends Like You’. Paul Shaffer of David Letterman’s Band contributes a cool electric piano vibe to ‘Rule Of Three’.Completing the celebrity guest roster is Tom Toad Doody of fellow Chicago favorites The Cryan Shames, whose heartfelt voice graces ‘Cornerstone’.
