His songs have been featured in soundtracks for movies and television. In 2014, Chicago's first album, Chicago Transit Authority (Columbia, 1969), featuring Cetera on bass and vocals, was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame.[16] Cetera was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Chicago in April 2016,and he, Robert Lamm, and James Pankow are among the 2017 Songwriters Hall of Fame inductees for their songwriting efforts as members of the group

Album:

Deluxe digitally remastered edition including 12-page full color booklet including liner notes, enhanced artwork with unpublished photos and new interview. For most fans of strident and forceful AOR, Peter Cetera would not, under normal circumstances, be their first port of call. Having been a founder member and lead vocalist with horn rock band Chicago, his background was firmly in another musical world but this, his debut solo album, showcased a desire to break free of those chains and strike out in a new direction, a solo career that turned heads and eventually led to his departure from the mother ship. Times had been disappointing for Chicago, their 14 album run at Columbia records was abruptly terminated in 1981 when they were perceived as being irrelevant to the current market. Cetera himself had actually begun to record a solo album and was half way through the project when news came of not only Chicago's ill fortune, but also of the cancellation of his own project. Fortuitously Chicago were picked up by the Warner Brother's label who also exercised the option on his solo album, which was completed and released by their Full Moon subsidiary. Issued in 1981 and produced by himself and Jim Boyer (Billy Joel, Steve Winwood), the album was quite a revelation to those who expected to hear a mellow example of his work with Chicago. The record, instead, was a punchy example of contemporary AOR, fuelled by crunchy guitar (featuring Steve Lukather and Chris Pinnick) and designed to fit in seamlessly with the work of say, Journey and Toto. Tracks such as 'I Can Feel It' and 'Livin' In The Limelight' are classics of the genre.Peter Cetera, released in September 1981, is the self-titled first solo release by then-Chicago bassist and lead vocalist, Peter Cetera.A much more rock-oriented album than Chicago had been producing at the time, Cetera released the album in September 1981 while still a member of the band. Released on Full Moon Records, a subsidiary of Warner Brothers (reissued in 2004 on Wounded Bird Records), the album was not commercially successful, peaking at number 143 on the Billboard 200 chart in March 1982, after making its first appearance on the Billboard 200 chart on January 23, 1982 at number 192.However, it is notable because Cetera is the sole writer of all songs on the album save one—"I Can Feel It," which Cetera co-wrote with Ricky Fataar and Carl Wilson.Wilson, a member of the Beach Boys and a friend of Cetera's,also played guitar on the song. The single "Livin' In The Limelight," the only hit from the album, was released on November 18, 1981,and charted at number six in the Billboard Mainstream Rock. One year after Peter Cetera was released, Cetera and Chicago launched a major comeback with the number one single, "Hard to Say I'm Sorry", and album, Chicago 16. After 1984's Chicago 17 was also a massive hit, Cetera left the band to concentrate fully on his solo career. The song, "On the Line", which appears on this album, was on the B-side of the 45 RPM single of Cetera's first number one song as a solo performer in 1986, "Glory of Love".
