We have all carried the torch of rock music, since we got the first taste of the rock’n’roll lifestyle in our early teen years. And once we got it, we were hooked for life.Kriss and Danny have been playing with The Scams, and hitting the road with their rock’n’roll mayhem, all over Sweden and Europe for more than ten years - and in between all gigs, waking up in weird places such as cleaning scrubs or prison cells, for having a bit too much fun. Kriss Biggs played the bass, head banging through the shows and through the afterparties until the sun came up.Danny Diemond was the singer and played the guitar until it was blazing, and got the party started, The other guys, Ol’ and Rob, are a few years younger and joined the ride in 2015.Ol’ Hurricane started out as a farmer boy. He learned to play the drums in a basement, and later moved to the city where he met Kriss, Danny and Rob.Rob “Raw” Paris had been playing guitar and doing crazy shit with his band Danger touring Sweden and Europe and had no plans slowing down when joining what was to become SHOUT!Even though they started up in different bands, everyone knew each other from the very beginning. They come from the same area in Sweden, and their paths crossed on concerts, parties and much more. So when Kriss came up with the idea of starting SHOUT, it didn’t take long before the four of them had found each other. And what they all brought to the table, in their own styles, became an instant ROCK'N'ROLL EXPLOSION! The thing that we are all about - and what SHOUT most of all stands for - is the celebration of all the people that live for ROCK! You are the most loyal people on the planet. Traditional heavy metal - raw power in its finest. Scream, SHOUT, that's what it's all about.It's time for something Scandinavian again, or more precisely something Swedish, the land of seemingly endless band potential. Unfortunately, Sweden is also very fast-moving when it comes to the shelf life of bands. One dissolves, from which a new one emerges, in the best case perhaps even two. I have now discovered such a new band: Shout. I'm sure it won't mean anything to anyone, but the quasi predecessor band will. They were none other than The Scams, who managed to gather a small fan base in these parts with their rock 'n' roll metal. The only time I was able to convince myself of the live quality of this four-piece was at the Stormcrusher Festival in 2015. Unfortunately, The Scams disbanded in the course of the following year, although they released a really strong album with "Bombs Away".Even before the Scams were laid to rest, bassist Kriss Biggs and guitarist Danny Diemond found a new musical family with shooting gallery operator Ol' Hurricane and second guitarist Rob "Raw" Paris. Zack and Shout was born.In terms of style, not much has changed since its predecessor. They still offer earthy, snotty rock 'n' roll. The heavy metal part has been cut back a bit, which suits "People Of The Night" quite well. Good mood music par excellence, what you can hear from the southern Swedish province of Smaland. Ten songs are represented on this output, which together make it to almost 40 minutes. Most of the choruses have been written quickly, so the listener can quickly sing along. For example the midtempo title track, which gets a nice fullness through its chorus in the refrain. There is a danger of confusion when you first look at the back cover and read tracks like "We Are Champions" and "Hell Awaits". No, neither of them is a cover song. Although a rocking version of Slayer's 85 title track would certainly be interesting. The track "Shoot First" makes me smile when I listen to it, which goes on to say "ask questions later"... haha, exactly my humour. The track "Young And Wild" promises a description of the daily routine, at least according to the lyrics. They didn't do themselves any favours with the chorus, because one of the guys is a bit off vocally, but never mind. That doesn't detract from the work, because Shout have really delivered a great album here, which can somehow be seen as the successor to The Scams, but which still has room for improvement.It's worth risking one or both ears here. So if you still don't know what to do with your Christmas money, you can give yourself a present with "People Of The Night".
