Starchase is an original melodic rock band coming out of Australia featuring members from Safire, The Radio Sun, Somebody Else's Life and Square One.In keeping with MelodicRock Records’ commitment to supporting new talent, the label is proud to announce the signing of another great new artist and their debut album – this time it’s from Melbourne melodic rockers STAR CHASE.Star Chase is a new 5 piece melodic rock band featuring a very familiar name on lead vocals/guitars – Jason Old from The Radio Sun (and previously Safire, Square one, Someone Elses Life).Joining Jason in Star Chase are:Steve Martret - lead guitars/vocals (Safire); Gilbert Annese - drums (Square One,Someone Elses Life); Aaron Suter - keyboards/vocals (Safire); and Anthony Wong - bass/vocals (Someone Elses Life)...After the 15th anniversary of the original Safire EP, Steve and Jase began writing together initially for fun, with no other plan other than to write as many songs as they could. This eventually led to having over 20 songs written in a few months. After putting the band together it was clear there was a chemistry so the next step was to record an album with no real expectation. The resulting, The new day is collection of 11 rocking tunes for fans of “two guitar & keyboard“ rock with huge harmonies.This band has their own unique sound. The New Day is an album that will delight fans of Jason and The Radio Sun, but also fans of classic feel good melodic rock, Australian style AOR and songswith big hooks and even bigger harmonies.Star Chase’s debut album will be released via MRR on February 26.

Australian melodic rockers STAR CHASE have their new album out, titled "Afterlife". It’s the second CD from the band, which features singer Jason Old (of The Radio Sun) alongside past band mates from Square One and Safire such as guitarist Steve Martret.All these signature vocals make this album feel very familiar, a disc plenty of melodic AOR tunes in the classic style of the genre.It’s not just the vocals that bring to mind The Radio Sun. Starchase’s approach to melodic rock seems very similar as well. Namely, huge vocal harmonies, big guitar hooks and the general notion that rock n’ roll should make you feel good.However, on some tracks the 'sweet AOR' factor is stronger in Star Chase.Not too hard and not too soft, Afterlife hits right in that melodic rocking middle ground, bringing to mind bands like Night Ranger, Nelson, Romeo Riot, Raintimes and early Harem Scarem."Afterlife" is such an easy listen; it’s the kind of album that’s perfect for summer driving.Songs like “Crash and Burn,” the classy AOR of "Crossroads", title track “Afterlife,” the guitar driven “Leap Of Faith” and midtempo “I Don’t Want To Be Lonely” are high points, but the whole album is really solid and the songs all have serious replay value.Needless to say, if you are a fan of Jason Old’s vocals in The Radio Sun, you’re going to want to hear this one. And if you just enjoy good melodic rock in general, Star Chase is a band that’s well worth discovering.Sweet melodies and catchy choruses are the core of "Afterlife", a very well performed and executed 2018 Melodic Rock / AOR album.
