Bio:

In late August 2007 the Rock and Metal world witnessed the birth of Eden's Curse, a multi-national Melodic Metal group with its members spanning four countries and two continents. Formed in January 2006 by chief songwriter and Bassist, Scotsman Paul Logue (David Readman / Cry Havoc) and United States born and bred Vocalist Michael Eden (Seven Ten), these two musicians hatched a plan to form a group utilizing the wonders of modern technology and in particular the world wide web. Armed with nothing but passion, spirit and an uncompromising batch of hyper rock songs they found German guitar virtuoso Thorsten Koehne (Code Of Perfection / Demon Drive / Attack) and English Drummer Pete Newdeck (Steve Grimmett Band / Paul Dianno’s Killers / Lionsheart / The Shock), before experienced German keyboard player Ferdy Doernberg (Axel Rudi Pell / Rough Silk / Therion / Taraxacum / Uli Jon Roth) completed the line-up in June 2006.With heavy weights such as Pink Cream 69 and Unisonic bassist Dennis Ward (Angra / Krokus / House Of Lords / Michael Kiske / Russell Allen & Jorn Lande) secured at the production helm and band colleague David Readman (Pink Cream 69 / Voodoo Circle / Adagio), as well as Doogie White (Rainbow / Yngwie Malmsteen / Cornerstone / Empire / Tank) and Carsten Schulz (Evidence One / Roger Staffalbach’s Angel Of Eden / Midnite Club / Domain) on backing vocals, in their corner, the group signed to AFM Records (Europe), Metal Mayhem Music (USA), Spiritual Beast (Japan) and Dynamo Records (Brazil) and their debut album not only burst but more like exploded onto the scene in late August 2007 to critical acclaim. The group faired extremely well in the 2007 end of year votes throughout the global Rock & Metal press with the highlights being voted Best Newcomer of 2007 by the Readers of RockUnited.Com, Best Metal/Prog Album 2007 by MelodicRock.com and Thorsten Koehne being awarded Guitarist of the Year 2007.In June 2008 the band released a limited edition rare E.P. "Seven Deadly Sins – The Acoustic Sessions" via their US label Metal Mayhem Music. Featuring seven renditions of tracks from the acclaimed debut in a laid back MTV-Unplugged type setting. In August 2008 Eden's Curse made a triumphant, yet unexpected, return with their sophomore release "The Second Coming".The groups sophomore effort "The Second Coming was once again mixed by Dennis Ward, the band truly "upped the ante" in terms of song writing, performances and production. With guest appearances from Tony Harnell (TNT) and Pamela Moore, best known for her performance as Sister Mary on the 1988 worldwide smash hit Operation: Mindcrime by Queensrÿche, "The Second Coming" was seen by many to be a real stepping stone for the band that built upon the foundations laid by the debut. The sheer strength of the album had many in the industry claiming the arrival of Eden's Curse as force truly to be reckoned with! The power metal anthem "Angels & Demons", where Michael Eden duets with the sultry Pamela Moore, became an internet smash hit which reached over 230,000 unique plays on the bands MySpace page and received even more lavish praise and airplay from Iron Maiden vocalist Bruce Dickinson on his BBC Radio Friday Rock Show.Following on from the success of "Angels & Demons" the group released a promotional video of the track which has received over 38,000 unique plays on YouTube and features scenes from the horror movie Jezebeth which included the song on it's soundtrack. In February 2009 the band were nominated by the UK’s largest Music publication Classic Rock Magazine as one of their coveted "Bands to Watch for in 2009". Classic Rock scribe Dave Ling enthused “If, like Classic Rock, you still hanker for the days when hard-rock bands wrote fantastic, soar away choruses and backed them with iron-clad melodies, then it's high time you met Eden's Curse”.In May 2009 Eden's Curse achieved their primary goal, which was to take the band from the studio to the stage. They headed off on a six date UK & Irish tour as opening band for Finnish Power Metal legends Stratovarius and Greek Melodic Metallers Firewind, the band led by current Ozzy Osbourne guitarist Gus G. The tour was a roaring success for the group who received excellent audience reactions each and every night and made many new fans.In June 2009 the group parted company with original keyboard player Ferdy Doernberg and appointed experienced Italian musician Alessandro Del Vecchio (Glenn Hughes / Ian Paice / Moonstone Project / Edge Of Forever) as his replacement.Del Vecchio made his live debut with Eden's Curse when the band headlined the Sophie Lancaster stage on the final day of renowned UK Metal festival Bloodstock Open Air 2009.In December 2009 the band toured the UK with Scottish Pirate Metallers Alestorm and The Rotted and appeared at the Hard Rock Hell III festival to round off a busy year of touring. The group spent the majority of 2010 in the studio writing and recording their third album "Trinity", however they took some time out to make their live debut on US soil with an appearance at MelodicRockFest 2, near Chicago, alongside Y&T, Winger and Danger Danger to name but a few.In March 2011 they released their third studio album "Trinity" which was packed with all their traditional trademarks and marked the bands recorded debut new keyboard player Alessandro Del Vecchio. As had become accustomed with each Eden's Curse the band have once again recruited some outstanding guest vocalists to appear on Trinity. Duetting with Michael Eden on the epic Melodic Metal anthem "No Holy Man" was none other than Dream Theater vocalist James LaBrie. Also contributing backing vocals to the whole album LaBrie enthused: “In 2010 I was fortunate to discover Eden's Curse. I absolutely love this band. Great players and people and they deserve nothing but huge success! They belong with the best of today's music. Trust me, you're going to love this from beginning to end ".Prior to the album release the group presented a digital single and promo video for "No Holy Man" on YouTube. An exciting animated video wrapped around the concept of a TV Evangelist living two lives - one of the good book and one of debauchery. The video proved a roaring success with views exceeding the 73,000 mark. Vocalist Andi Deris of German Heavy Metal legends Helloween also duets on the bruising "Black Widow" one of the bands heaviest tracks to date.Trinity was a classy affair that saw Eden's Curse once again take steps forward and cement their place alongside many of their contemporaries in today's European Melodic Metal scene. In July 2011 the bands new found relationship with James LaBrie paid off handsomely when they were personally invited by the Dream Theater front man to open for the New York Prog Metal legends on their two UK warm up shows, prior to their headline appearance at High Voltage festival in London.Eden's Curse played a blistering 40 minute set at Leeds and Wolverhampton, respectively, in front of a combined 4500 fans, and won many new supporters, including several members of Dream Theater!”They were unbelievable! Their songs are so good. You know what, straight up, I was heading to catering to grab a bite to eat when they started playing and I just sat down saying nothing. I looked at the crew and said 'Are you guys hearing this'? and they said 'Yeah, they are REALLY good'! There is no bigger compliment I can pay those guys” quipped new Drummer Mike Mangini. With the new line up in place the group revealed that their new album "Symphony Of Sin" would be released in October 2013 by their long term label partners AFM Records and Spiritual Beast (Japan). Preceding the albums release is the groups most sumptuous promotional video to date for the lead single "Evil & Divine".Shot on location at the famous renovated Church St. Andrews in the Square in Glasgow, the video is a sophisticated moody-yet-dark love story between the protagonist, played by Mijic, and an angelic figure. With long term mixing engineer Dennis Ward and graphic designer Thomas Ewerhard (Edguy, Avantasia, Jorn Lande) on board the finished results were always guaranteed to sound and look spectacular, but it's the meat on the bones of "Symphony Of Sin" that really matters.Eden's Curse make a triumphant return with their most cohesive batch of songs to date on an album that the band members describe as "special". Add to that a visual transformation that produces results that declare with undeniable fact that Eden's Curse has never looked or sounded better. The new look line up is set to make its live debut at Firefest in October 2013 alongside acts such as the Jeff Scott Soto fronted W.E.T. and Harem Scarem amongst many more.

Album:

Multinational Melodic Metal band Eden's Curse will release their fifth studio album 'Cardinal' via German Metal label AFM Records on October 14th, 2016.Produced by Paul Logue and Thorsten Koehne, 'Cardinal' contains 12 songs with all of the usual Eden's Curse trademark melodies, hooks and riffs.Written mainly by the band's long established writing team of bassist and founding member Paul Logue, virtuoso guitarist Thorsten Koehne and former drummer Pete Newdeck (Tainted Nation), what is immediately apparent about 'Cardinal' is that it showcases some of the group's melodic yet heaviest and most progressive moments to date."We took two years to write this album, because ‘Symphony Of Sin’ was such a successful album for us. We like to do things properly in this band and explore every possible opportunity to make each moment of every song the very best that it can be. We are not the type of band to just churn out songs with next to no quality control - we scrutinize every riff, lick, hook, melody, lyric and ask - can we do it better? This has been a long, hard and collaborative process that has not only produced some of the best songs we have ever written but some of the best collective performances on any Eden's Curse album to date" enthuses bassist Paul Logue.Guitarist Thorsten Koehne added "We are known as Eden's Curse for writing some good hooks, so we can always come up with that, but one thing we wanted to do on this album was bring out the technical side of the band a little more as well as make it heavier".'Cardinal' is the first studio album to feature drummer John Clelland (Code Of Silence), who appeared on 2015's 'Live With The Curse' double live release, and new Finnish keyboard player Christian 'Chrism' Pulkkinen (Simulacrum, Adamantra).Opener 'Prophets Of Doom' hurtles our of the speakers with its double bass attack and strong riffing, wrapped around some huge vocal hooks and multi-layered keyboards - it's a signal of intent! Followed hot on its heels is lead single 'Sell Your Soul' - an uplifting, upbeat and extremely catchy song featuring some wonderful guitar/synth interplay between Koehne and Chrism again topped off by the fabulous voice of Nikola Mijic. The sensational near 7 minute epic progressive ballad 'Find My Way' is, simply put, one of the finest songs Eden's Curse has ever written. With it's sonic layers and huge dynamic landscapes, it’s candy for the ears on this passionate and epic track - that simply has everything! From Mijic's heartfelt vocals, Chrism's subtle piano and overblown keyboards, Logue and Clelland's thunderous rhythms, Koehne's razor sharp guitars, a wall of orchestral strings to its anthemic soar-away chorus - this song is a real tour de force!'Unconditional' is a stunning radio friendly track featuring a duet between Mijic and former Leaves' Eyes vocalist Liv Kristine. "It's not a ballad, per se, as it rocks out in places, but it's a song very much in the same vein as 'Unbreakable', with its pop sensibilities, style and melodies. It could arguably be the most commercial sounding track we've ever written! The contrast between Liv and Nikola's voices works so well and adds a real personal touch to what is essentially a love song" declares Logue.Liv Kristine comments "It was such a pleasure and honor working with Eden's Curse. I love this track - it's like the freshness of a sunny, really early Saturday morning. It's powerful, highly interesting and passionate. Nikola's voice is outstanding and gripping - a superb duet partner! I hope we get the chance to perform 'Unconditional' live some day".Closing 'Cardinal' is the album’s second epic track, the near 8 minute 'Jericho', based on the biblical tale of the Battle of Jericho. A real story both lyrically and musically, it is quintessential Eden's Curse and surely destined to become a live fan favourite. "It has everything including the kitchen sink in it! I really wanted to write a long epic tune that has lots of dynamics, musically and lyrically, and could take the listener on a journey into the heartlands of the desert. This song was really great fun to write, together with Thorsten, especially the long instrumental section in the middle. I think this will be great fun to play live! It sounds like our songs 'No Holy Man' and 'Jerusalem Sleeps' marry, have a baby and name him 'Jericho'" remarks Logue.'Cardinal' is once again superbly mixed by the band’s long time engineer Dennis Ward (Unisonic, Pink Cream 69, Krokus, Angra) with the artwork designed by another established collaborator in graphic artist Thomas Ewerhard (Edguy, Avantasia, Jorn Lande, James Labrie, MasterPlan). It is presented in a stunning triple gatefold digipak offering."Each Eden's Curse album has its own unique identity and 'Cardinal' is no different. Besides the old guard of Thorsten and I, the newer guys like John and Chrism have added so much to the sound. John's accurate and tasteful drumming is a real highlight on the record and Chrism could very well be the best keyboard player we have ever had. Great sounds, ideas and the interplay with Thorsten is at times breathtaking! Nikola continues to go from strength to strength as the band’s singer and proves to be a real find for us vocally and as a person. Plus the bass and the songs aren’t so bad either" laughs Logue. "The record has some absolute classics that will waltz into our live set with consummate ease. We are extremely proud of what is our biggest production to date. We love it and know our fans will too" he further adds.
