Bio:

Evermore is a melodic metal band from Sweden.Debut album; Court of the Tyrant King, is being released 2021.04.29 on all platforms.Evermore is a melodic metal band from Sweden, originally formed in Karlskrona, in the southeastern region of Sweden. It was originally a two man band consisting of members Johan Karlsson and Andreas Vikland. Karlsson and Viklands formed a band in the early 2000’s by the name Euphoria consisting of five band members. Later on Euphoria was disbanded but Karlsson and Viklands continued making music together throughout the years. Later on in 2019 singer Johan “Blizz” Haraldsson joined the band as lead vocalist.Evermore’s influences comes from a wide range of bands hailing from heavy metal bands such as Helloween, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Avantasia, Edguy and Stratovarius but also from heavier or more thrash metal oriented groups like Metallica, Pantera and Megadeth. The band favors a heavier tone compared to other more power metal oriented bands but have always rooted themselves in strong melodies and melodic riffs. The idea behind Evemore’s music has never been to lock themselves in a musical direction. Evermore released their first EP Northern Cross on September the 5th 2020 consisting of three tracks; By Death Reborn, Call of the Wild and The Northern Cross. Northern Cross. All music, lyrics, composing, musical arrangements and recordings of Evermore are created by Karlsson and Viklands. We just want to make music that makes you feel good and want to scream along in your car or even better; maybe even change your mood a little when life is kicking you in the ass.

Album:

I'm not going to deny that power metal is a subgenre that lived through its great moments a long time ago, but that currently needs to renew and reinvent itself. Despite what has been said above, there are those of us who still enjoy this subgenre in its maximum expression or in its purest state, where we find harmonious melodies, constant double bass drums and fast and dizzying guitars, all those musical characteristics are carried with a lot of charisma by the new band. Evermore, a Swedish ensemble that will surely make all lovers of classic power metal fall in love with its interpretation, because from the first moment you listen to them and close your eyes they will magically transport you back to the nineties, a time where power enjoyed and presumed to be novel and be healthy. As we are already clear about the musical style that these Swedes interpret, let's talk a little about the lyrics of the songs of “Court of the Tyrant King” a concept album loosely based on Monomyth or the concept of Hero's Journey as described by Joseph Campbell in 1949. Simply put, Hero's Journey is a common theoretical framework or template for how human stories are told, how they begin, progress, and eventually come to an end. In the hero's journey there are several steps or segments that the story takes and the hero progresses through the narrative. Many of these steps are repeated in many different stories of all ages and cultures in human history and although the stories are not the same, they often follow basically the same type of framework or development. The song with which the album opens is "Heros's Journey" as expected, the trip begins with a widely passionate symphonic introduction to give way to the fast and incredible "Call Of The Wild" where Evermore's musical proposal explodes and although it could Seeming simple, its undiluted power metal is elegant with too many stories, vibrant piece played with intensity full of influences from bands like Edguy, Helloween, Stratovarius and Nocturnal Rites, fast, melodic, with melodic choruses that get anywhere like lightning of light. After the dizzying song comes “Rising Tide”, still widely influenced by power metal bands like Celesty, Dreamtale and Stratovarius, the Swedes give us uncompromising melody in a song like few I've heard in recent years, bordering on perfection, pure energy , catchy, with a frenzied intensity and although the voice seems to sound a bit innocent, the passion with the sings is simply perfect. We are well packed and it is the turn of “Court Of The Tyrant King” a direct song has brought to mind the French band Heavenly, because it plays a little more with those heavenly keyboards and its guitar sections advance with more forceful tints without losing not an iota of speed, another of the great songs or rather one of the best of this surprising album.Turn to listen to “Northern Cross” overwhelming and powerful like the good times of Edguy, melodic and electric, with a catchy rhythmic base with which the Swedish band Evermore hits us in the face with an example that power still has some charm which in my view lacks many other subgenres of metal so fashionable today, in short, an impeccable song that in addition to everything mentioned contains outstanding guitar solos. The power and energy do not stop and we see that in “See No Evil” after a soft start of keyboards, a song that overwhelms us with double bass drum and sharp guitars resting on a keyboard mattress as the style dictates, although low the revolutions when reaching most of the high-pitched vocal parts, a power theme of the lot although very well interpreted by these Swedes. In the final part of the album comes “My Last Command” where the virtuosity of the Swedish musicians is palpable everywhere in all corners of the composition, from the passionate orchestrations to the guitar techniques, for lovers of power metal it will be a marvel of song. Also say that I quite liked the voice because it reaches quite high in the chorus. Unfortunately we have reached the end of the album the last piece "My Death Reborn" with a little rougher guitars and after a lighter rhythmic base we are accompanied by a song with constant changes of rhythm, alternating again the high-pitched voice with delicious choruses, although with the typical rhythmic base of any metal power composition. In short, this is an amazing Swedish power metal album, that the unknown Evermore have given us, although its ethyl has already been exploited by bands like Dreamtale, Celesty, Edguy and Stratovarius, this album has touched my heart, so it will be inside of my top of the best of the year.

Album:

Evermore will release the new album "In Memoriam" through Scarlet Records. Evermore rewrites the traditional rules of European power metal in an extraordinary, unique way. With "Court Of The Tyrant King", the band members showed off some remarkable skills; now "In Memoriam" takes their ideas, songwriting and overall artistic approach to the next level. While always adopting a heavy and aggressive tone, Evermore’s stunning melodies weave around each other and create songs that are smart-structured and yet always catchy and radio-friendly. This time, the Swedish band even used a church choir to add another sonic layer to the sound. Lyrically wise, "In Memoriam" may be perceived as an album about people and the everyday struggles that affect us all: “For those who lost their voice in the dark of night, compassion is the flame that leads you home.” The end goal of Evermore is to create music that makes you feel 'something' and creates that sense of empowerment, uplifting mood and motivation that is so strongly associated with the metal genre: you own the story!
