The name of the band and the album "Vangardion" is a combination of "Vanguard" and "Accordion". With this, the band stands for unexplored possibilities of the accordion in Symphonic Rock. Recharging with energetic and positive music is the guiding theme of the compositions. Most of the ideas came out of improvisation due to the pleasure of playing. The lyrics deal with personal development and self-discovery, avoiding a philosophical or moralising tone. Capturing and musically processing moods and thoughts from everyday life serves as inspiration and source of strength for accordionist and composer Matthias Matzke. As a multiple first prize winner at the international Wettbewerbe accordion competitions, Matzke has not only made a name for himself with impressive finger acrobatics, but also as a pioneer of the digital accordion. Vangardion, performing as a quartet, plays 100% live and sounds like a rock band with a big orchestra. Like Astor Piazzolla's Tango Nuevo, which showcased the expressiveness of the accordion in vibrant music, Symphonic Rock, for Matzke, continues this path between goosebump-inducing moments and compelling power.Vangardion offers surprising possibilities with the symphonic metal accordion. We want to surprise thousands of new listeners with our unique sound and play at festivals like Wacken with a full accordion orchestra.
