A Tribute to Judas Priest: Legends of Metal Vol. I and A Tribute to Judas Priest: Legends of Metal Vol. II are tribute albums, both released in 1997 by Century Media Records. It includes several rock and metal bands such as Helloween, Overkill, Saxon, Heavens Gate, Blind Guardian, Mercyful Fate, and Iced Earth, covering songs by British heavy metal band Judas Priest. Some of the songs included in this album have been previously released by the artists.This is the first CD in a series of four CDs from Century Media. Even though a lot of the songs are repeated in this series I still enjoyed each of them very much. I just wish century had done more of them. There is a good mix of classic Priest covered in here. Most of the bands' versions were pretty much true to the original songs and I think they all did the songs justice. I particularly enjoyed Saints in Hell by Fates Warning and Victim of Changes - Gamma Ray. It almost sounded like Priest went in and recorded those songs again. I felt that Devin Townsend and Testament did a great job on Sinner and Rapid Fire respectively because they really managed to turn those songs up a notch. I also liked Doom Squad's version of Burnin' Up not only because they did a good job but the fact that they selected one of Priest's lesser known songs. This CD was definitely worth the effort to find.
