Info:

Tigertailz are a glam metal band hailing from Cardiff, Wales. They are most famous for their 1990 album, Bezerk which made the Top 40 in the UK Albums Chart and spawned the hit singles "Love Bomb Baby" and "Heaven",.The band reformed in 2005 to considerable popular acclaim.Tigertailz (originally called Stagefright) formed in 1983 after bassist Pepsi Tate and drummer Ian Welch placed an advert in the Cardiff record store, Spillers Records, looking for a guitarist. Jay Pepper answered the advert.Local guitarist Phil Harling and singer Jim Dovey joined and the band began to write and record demos, although the demos were never released. The band began to get gigs and they started to amass a local following, however lead singer Jim Dovey soon left the band therefore Pepper and Tate placed an advert in the National Sounds magazine and vocalist Steevi Jaimz answered the call and joined the band. Welch left the band in 1984 and was finally replaced with Ace Finchum.Part of the nascent glam metal scene in the late 1980s, Tigertailz first line-up issued their debut album, Young And Crazy, in 1987. The album featured vocalist Steevi Jaimz, guitarist Jay Pepper, bassist Pepsi Tate and drummer Ace Finchum. The debut album also provided their first single, "Livin' Without You".As the band toured, vocalist Steevi Jaimz was not fully committed to the band, and several instances of fighting were recorded. The band recruited Kim Hooker to replace Jaimz in time for follow-up album, Bezerk which was released in 1990 on the Music For Nations label.Prior to the release of Bezerk, the band re-recorded "Livin Without' You" with Hooker as vocalist, and released it as a single. Bezerk saw the band breakthrough as a headline act, and delivering three singles, "Love Bomb Baby","Noise Level Critical" and "Heaven". The album peaked at No. 36 in the UK Albums Chart. They released Banzai!, a collection of B-sides and re-recorded tracks, in 1991 in Japan. They also issued Wazbones in 1995, by which time the Hooker-Pepper-Tate-Finchum line-up had fragmented, and was replaced by the Hooker-Danahar-Tate-Skinner line up. Touring proved successful, but there was insufficient record label interest to sustain the band.On 26 June 2012 Tigertailz announced its new line-up, and a European tour for September and October. Joining original members Jay Pepper and Ace Finchum were Jules Millis (vocals), Rob Wylde (guitar) and Jason Sims (bass). The band re-recorded an old song, Fall In Love Again, and filmed a video for it - with all proceeds going towards a charity set up in Pepsi Tate's memory. After a tour and an appearance at the Hard Rock Hell festival, this line-up fragmented in 2013. In a statement, Jay Pepper confirmed that there would be no reunion but that he would continue to perform as Tigertailz, and in June 2013 it was confirmed that drummer Matthew Blakout had re-joined the band, with Wylde switching from guitar to bass, and a new EP 'Knives' being prepared for release. On 7 October 2013, the Classic Rock Magazine website premiered Tigertailz latest video "The Shoe Collector", ahead of the release of the "Knives" EP on 15 October. The magazine described it as a "a major step on Tigertailz’ road back from the brink".on 17 February 2014 Classic Rock premiered the second video release from "Knives" EP "One Life" On 30 June 2014, Classic Rock once again premiered the final video from "Knives" EP "Punched In The Gutz" Filmed in Cardiff's St David's Hall in November 2013.Tigertailz announced European tour dates for Autumn 2014 as well as Australian dates early 2015. They also made their US debut, and supported Kiss (band) and Cheap Trick on the 2014 Kiss Kruise.

Album:

More than two decades after the release of 'Bezerk' - an album that defined the whole turn-of-the-decade glam metal zeitgeist - Tigertailz roll on to new and fairer horizons. Greater challenges met head-on by bigger riffs, sharper solos, melt-yer-brain vocals and hooks heavy and dark enough to reel in not only 'Jaws' but all the sequels too.New five-track EP 'Knives', to be released soon by Scarlet Records, is the first new music from Tigertailz in almost six years, a new dawn that sees the band step it up on every level. Founder member Jay Pepper has reunited with long-time drummer Matt Blakout to create – with singer Jules Millis and bassist Rob Wylde – a savage statement of intent. Matt, who has recently played with Mott The Hoople star Verden Allen, returns to the band at a pivotal moment in its history. A time when it sounds hungrier than ever, and when the 'Knives' are most definitely sharpened.Tigertailz may already have the distinction of being the only UK band to share in some of the success of hairspray heavies like Mötley Crüe, L.A Guns and WASP, but they only achieved it by being unique, by not following others and by doing it their way. Extremity in everything - in music, in image, in art, in life...First making a splash with their 1987 debut, the snotty, street-smart 'Young And Crazy', the Tigertailz name made rock headlines with their follow-up 'Bezerk', an album that delivered a series of popular singles, including infectious bubblegum classic 'Love Bomb Baby', a song that seems destined to remain their calling card. As sales went through the roof, 'Bezerk' kept Tigertailz on the road for what seemed like an eternity. Their long-awaited follow-up, 'Wazbones', was however sunk by endless record company problems. That, and the onset of grunge, eventually sent the band into hiatus...In 2005, with the music scene beginning to look something like fun again, the core members of Tigertailz reunited. As record companies hurried to re-release their older material, the band prepared their comeback album 'Bezerk 2.0'. They were back, playing massive festivals like Sweden Rock, Gods of Metal, Lorca Rock Festival and Kobetansonik, supporting the likes of Kiss, Crüe, Whitesnake and Velvet Revolver.Even better was to come, on the back of the fantastic 'Thrill Pistol', the heaviest album the band have made, and an indicator of their current direction - British metal, twisted up with street punk and savagely singable, glamtastic melodies. Not only that, but its release finally enabled them to release the fabled 'Wazbones' as a second, bonus CD – free with every copy of 'Thrill Pistol'.Regrettably, 2007 was to be remembered for the passing of bassist and co-founder Pepsi Tate, a terrible blow that almost forced the band to quit. After much soul-searching, it was decided to bite back, continuing to keep alive the great tradition that Tate had been such a powerful exponent of. In 2010, the band prepared for the next phase in its rollercoaster story - the 20-year celebration of 'Bezerk', a live album, and two festival headline slots (including the UK's Hard Rock Hell). With a rejuvenated and enthralling new line-up hitting the news in 2013, the road rolls on for a hungry, revitalised Tigertailz. From a band that has survived challenges so bizarre that most wouldn't even believe it, expect blow-your-mind live performances, and in 'Knives' some new generation Tigertailz music to rally the clans. In fact, a competition to win a signed copy of the new EP attracted over 10,000 'hits' in less than three hours! It's a resurgence to make fans young and old proud of this classic Welsh metal band. The best advice right now is to brace yourselves...

Album:

For British headbangers Tigertailz, it's as if the Nineties never happened. Sure, these guys had their biggest hit with "Heaven" from 1990's Bezerk, released by Music For Nations and played on MTV. But they sounded more like the glammed-up hair-metal warriors that dominated music during the second half of the previous decade. Now, 16 years after Bezerk, comes Bezerk 2.0. "It is a musical continuation of the original album, and most of these songs would be at home on that album, as well," says singer Kim Hooker (who still wears white face paint) in some of the album's promotional materials. Indeed, with three of the band's four original members intact, Bezerk 2.0 is loaded with hairy anthems, monster riffs and massive choruses. Just listen to "One Beat of Your Heart," "Make Me Bleed" and the power ballad "I Believe." (But try to forget that the pre-chorus to "For Hate'z Sake" rips off Slaughter's "Up All Night.") The cover plays off of the artwork for the original Bezerk, and the production is synthetic and sterile — just like most slick Eighties pop-metal records. There are a few sonic nods to modern tehnology, but most of Bezerk 2.0 is as dated as the band's name. That said, who really cares if these songs aren't relevant today? The fact that these guys have picked up where they left off, with little hope of commercial success, is admirable. You can hear them having a blast, and it's infectious. By the time this hour-long disc plays out, you might find yourself wanting to dig around and find more obscure hair metal — maybe even some vintage Tigertailz records.

Album:

Banzai! is a 1991 album by Tigertailz. It is a collection of B sides and singles originally for Japan only.It includes a remake version of "Livin' without you", and a live version of "She'z too hot" from their first album Young and Crazy, and two covers: "Creeping Death" by Metallica and "Peace Sells" by Megadeth.TIGERTAILZ, the Welsh band that would prove to be Britain's only real serious contenders in the '80s glam rock stakes, will reissue their classic "Bezerk" and "Banzai" albums on May 23 via Sanctuary Records. Both albums have been re-mastered in Sanctuary Studios and "sound fantastic," according to a posting on the band's web site. "Also, there's new artwork designed Pepsi Tate [bass]! The front covers look similar but have been enhanced while the 'Banzai' cover has been completely re-drawn by Pepsi. The inside sleeves are totally different from the originals with loads of unreleased photos and amazing new drawings. Both albums also feature a new bonus tracks taken from the original 'Wazbones' sessions (1992) that were never released. And, if that wasn't enough, there's a special message in 'Bezerk' from the Ghoul himself Wednesday 13 [MURDERDOLLS]."

Album:

Still alive and kickin' - although only with one original member, guitarist Jay Pepper - TIGERTAILZ are releasing "Lost Reelz", a 18-track album of never-before-heard recordings. The legendary South Wales, UK glam outfit have the distinction of being the only British band to share in some of the success of hairspray heavies like Motley Crue, L.A Guns, W.A.S.P. and Poison. They achieved it by being unique, by not following others and by doing it their way.Extremity in everything -- in music, in image, in art, in life."Lost Reelz" covers years of material Tigertailz recorded, and even a brand new track specifically for this compilation.Despite the fact most of these unreleased recordings are demos, the sound quality is really good. This new rarities compilation acts as much as a tribute to fallen bass player Pepsi Tate (RIP) as it does Tigertailz time capsule: some of the album's tracks are solely created by Tate at the mid-nineties after the band's Wazbones album. It is mentioned that Pepsi was hugely influenced by Trent Reznor and Nine Inch Nails but, while the songs are largely electronic/synth-heavy in origin, they ping with a dark rock&pop feel. This "Lost Reelz" set isn't just about the 'lost' years of Tigertailz, though - there are also songs from when Tate and Pepper first reunited with frontman Kim Hooker. There are a trio of songs from this time, as "Daggers", a Pepper-sung number that cruises on a definite Bang Tango vibe and aches to be re-recorded for the band's proposed future release of the same name. Also "Hold Your Horses", a track actually recorded with full production and was set to be included on the 2007' album 'Thrill Pistol'. Hooker's style vocal inflection on the verse gives way to a Def Leppard-esque gang vocal chorus with a prominent hook, making this one of the best songs on the album.Besides, "Lost Reelz" isn't exclusively throwback: the current Tigertailz line-up is celebrated by way of the re-recorded version of "Fall In Love Again" which actually acted as vocalist Jules Millis' audition. Also a brand new song, "FnA", named after the record label releasing this disc and home to a cheeky, self-referential lyric, with a sound capturing the late '80s / early '90s vibe that Tigertailz is known for.Additionally, the album leads off with a cool rendition of the Welsh National Anthem performed by guitarist Jay Pepper."Lost Reelz" delivers an interesting picture of Tigertailz during their entire career, especially the lesser known musical side of the band, previously unheard. The material featured here is varied in style, showcasing how the band was morphing through the years looking for new sounds, blended with traditional styled Tigertailz tunes. The legacy and influence of these iconic glam titans should rarely get called into question, and "Lost Reelz" is a good example of that.

Bio:

Album:

Welsh glam metal veterans TIGERTAILZ will release a new album, "Blast", on April 25. The CD will include the song "Pipped It Popped It", which was written specifically for this year's Eurovision Song Contest."Pipped It Popped It" was submitted to the judging panel, who choose a shortlist for a public vote, with the winner going on to represent the U.K. on May 14 in Sweden. The track, however, was almost immediately rejected.Guitarist Jay Pepper blasted the U.K. Eurovision panel, saying in a statement: "Was our song even listened to? Who knows, but clearly the BBC and U.K. Eurovision fan club didn't think a song and image that celebrated David Bowie's 'Ziggy Stardust', MOTT THE HOOPLE, THE SWEET and T.REX was worthy of showing the British public and letting them decide. They obviously know better. Well, their track record over the last five years proves this, doesn't it?"The first full TIGERTAILZ studio album in nearly ten years, "Blast" will include a full-color 12-page booklet to go in an already jam-packed ten-panel CD inlay.TIGERTAILZ launch their U.K. tour in Sutton In Ashfield on April 8.TIGERTAILZ last year tapped its bassist, Rob Wylde, to sing for the group following the departure of Jules Millis. Wylde was previously the frontman in TEENAGE CASKET COMPANY and the U.K. POISON tribute act POIZON.Millis left TIGERTAILZ in March 2015 "due to personal reasons." He joined the band in 2012 folllowing the acrimonious exit of TIGERTAILZ's longtime singer Kim Hooker.TIGERTAILZ's was originally fronted by Steevi Jaimz, who left the group in 1988. Jaimz later attempted to register the TIGERTAILZ name as a trademark with the U.K. Patent Office and launch his own version of TIGERTAILZ with drummer Ace Finchum.Pepper is the sole remaining member of TIGERTAILZ's classic lineup.
