Bio:

Nashville Pussy is an American rock & roll band from Atlanta, Georgia. Their musical style has been variously described as psychobilly, Southern rock, hard rock and cowpunk, as well as "sleaze rock".The band's lyrical themes mostly revolve around sex, drugs, drinking, fighting, and rock 'n' roll. Initially called Hell's Half-Acre, the band's name comes from Ted Nugent's introduction to "Wang Dang Sweet Poontang" on the Double Live Gonzo album.Following the initial 1997 breakup of Kentucky cowpunk band Nine Pound Hammer, guitarist Blaine Cartwright formed Nashville Pussy where he would take up vocal duties in addition to guitar. The core lineup of Nashville Pussy consists of husband-and-wife duo Blaine Cartwright and Ruyter Suys (pronounced "Rider Sighs"), and drummer Jeremy Thompson. Original drummer Adam Neal (Nine Pound Hammer) left to form The Hookers. Original bassist Corey Parks (sister of former NBA basketball player Cherokee Parks) quit one month after the release of the album High as Hell. Tracy Almazan aka Tracy Kickass formerly of NYC's The Wives, and Helldorado was enlisted to replace Corey mid-tour. Nashville Pussy recorded 'Say Something Nasty' with Almazan on bass only to be replaced by Katielyn Campbell (of the band Famous Monsters). Katie Lynn's image is on the album Say Something Nasty. Campbell was subsequently replaced by Karen Cuda for the album Get Some. Karen Cuda also appeared as bassist on the album "From Hell To Texas", and in the live DVD "Live in Hollywood.Nashville Pussy have released five full-length studio albums, one EP and two live DVDs.Nashville Pussy have completed tracking their upcoming album, the follow-up to 2009's 'From Hell To Texas', at Nitrosonic studios in Lexington, Kentucky. The album, slated for release sometime in 2014, will be the Atlanta rockers first with new bassist Bonnie Buitrago.

Album:

Nashville Pussy are back! On their sophomore effort, High As Hell, Lexington’s Blaine Cartwright and company serve up a platter hotter’n steamier than the grits mawmaw used to make. After the success of their Grammy-nominated debut, Let Them Eat Pussy, Nashville Pussy deliver another rock-solid effort. High As Hell shows why the trade publication CMJ recently referred to them as “the greatest rock and roll band in America today.”Not surprisingly, the second disc doesn’t depart stylistically from the first disc at all. From the engine-revving which kicks off the first track, “Struttin’ Cock,” to the boot-stompin’ closer, “Drive,” Nashville Pussy offer a Jim Beam-fueled chainsaw hayride, which might best be described as “R.O.C.K. in the C.S.A.”The twelve songs here, for the most part, are variations on a theme. The wicked lampooning of virtually every Southern stereotype, coupled with pedal-to-the-metal rock n’ roll works perfectly. Virtually every imaginable vice is extolled here, be it sex: “Struttin’ Cock,” and “Piece of Ass”; drugs: “She’s Got the Drugs” and “High as Hell”; or guns: “Shoot First and Run Like Hell” along with “Wrong Side of a Gun.”With one of the scariest song titles in history, “Blowjob From a Rattlesnake” along with a raucous rendition of Rose Tattoo’s “Rock ‘n’ Roll Outlaw,” High As Hell proves Nashville Pussy are no one-hit wonders.

Album:

Blaine Cartwright appears to mean business when he declares NASHVILLE PUSSY's new album "Up the Dosage" to be his band's "Back in Black". Well, maybe that's too hefty a claim since "Pussy's Not a Dirty Word" is the only song that sounds remotely like AC/DC on this album. Blaine and NASHVILLE PUSSY have always been knucklehead savants, thus one is wont to call Blaine's avowal a potential ruse. After all, Blaine wags on this album about getting it on with a chick that's "meaner than shit, hotter than Hell" and "10 months pregnant" on "Before the Drugs Wear Off". There's a shot of Jack Daniel's Devil's Cut waiting to numb your overthinking head if you dig too deeply into that one. That, and reminder spins of "Piece of Ass" and "Blowjob from a Rattlesnake" off of NASHVILLE PUSSY's 2000 offering, "Higher than Hell".All that being said, "Up the Dosage" is, by all means, NASHVILLE PUSSY's funniest and most energetic album in years. With song titles like "Before the Drugs Wear Off", "Rub it to Death", "The South is Too Fat to Rise Again", "Pillbilly Blues", "Hooray for Cocaine, Hooray for Tennessee" and "Pussy's Not a Dirty Word", you know the old NASHVILLE PUSSY's come back to play. Having settled over their last few albums for straight-up piss rock, "Up the Dosage"plugs in to all stations of their catalog and NASHVILLE PUSSY knocks out a home run to kick 2014 off with a steel-tipped, shitkickin' right pump. The hilarious "Rub it to Death" and "Spent" are NASHVILLE PUSSY's fastest tracks since "Let Them Eat Pussy" and "High as Hell". Appropriate the masturbatory implications of "Rub it to Death" is given the gas, straight down to Blaine's quick and lascivious woofing of the word "rub" on the choruses. His wifey Ruyter Suys whips a gooey solo here and later on "Spent". In fact, she's at the top of her rowdy game all throughout "Up the Dosage", spilling out two lengthy solos on "Beginning of the End" and cranking out serious decibels on the opening number, "Everybody's Fault but Mine". Listen up for Ruyter to take the lead vocals on the abbreviated rawker "Taking it Easy" before churning an up-tempo doom-meets-KISS groove on "White and Loud", which she also wrote."'Til the Meat Falls Off the Bone" reportedly originated in Blaine Cartwright's archives since the Seventies and he describes it as "a kind of AEROSMITH-meets-PUSSY track". He's actually dead-on with this assertion as Ruyter lays down an electric blues hump straight out of the sweaty yesteryears of AEROSMITH. There's a little AEROSMITH jive to "Beginning of the End" as well, and the blaring riffs between Blaine and Ruyter ride high atop Bonnie Buitrago's springing bass lines and Jeremy Thompson's shucking tempo."The South is Too Fat to Rise Again" is likely to cheese off a few folks beneath the Mason-Dixon, but the banging groove and Blaine's hysterical indictment "I'm gonna say somethin' that's for our own good, my friends" and "having heart attacks while trying to wipe our ass", as Ruyter Suys and Bonnie Buitrago ply like honky tonk divas behind him is a total scream. There are shades of Ted Nugent and ZZ TOP amping up the grinding title cut and "Pillbilly Blues". The Nuge especially plays into the latter cut with its sleazy drive and shaker sub-rhythms, but Bonnie Buitrago makes this one hers with some gnashing bass trundles on the first couple verses before Blaine and Ruyter riff the crap out of the song. Then the band throws their listeners a huge curve with a little hit of pure country, ridden by dobro and mandolin instead of blaring static on "Hooray for Cocaine, Hooray for Tennessee". Blaine conveys lyrically "both made a mess of me" on this cut and you have to respect his moxy. What's best about "Up the Dosage" aside from its vitality and dynamics is its professional yet grimy sound, thanks in large part to a slick remix job from SHINEDOWN producer Rick Beato. Beato has the right idea by pushing the guitar riffs as loud as the front areas can contain them without drowning out Buitrago and Thompson. Somehow, Ruyter and Blaine come off like blaring rock sovereigns without intercutting their rhythm section, thus the album sounds as large it's professed to be.Sure, NASHVILLE PUSSY eats lady bassists up like, well, you know, but they've always been an entertaining rock 'n roll band, even if many folks have been hankering for the adrenaline rush of "Let Them Eat Pussy", still the band's best offering to-date. You get two hits of speed on "Up the Dosage", but even better, Ruyter Suys and Bonnie Buitrago just might gel better than Buitrago's predecessors, the outrageous Corey Parks notwithstanding. For certain, Ruyter and Bonnie tap into some of the best backing vocal harmonies in the history of NASHVILLE PUSSY. Perhaps there's the benefit of some killer songwriting and production at work here, but "Up the Dosage" is all that and some yummy down with a 90 proof chaser.

Album:

NASHVILLE PUSSY will release a compilation album, “Ten Years Of Pussy”, in Scandinavia on May 6, in Germany on May 8, in the rest of Europe on May 11 and in the USA on May 12 via SPV/Steamhammer. The effort will be made available as a 2CD digipak and a digital download. “Ten Years Of Pussy” is described in a press release a a “22-track monster [that] takes [NASHVILLE PUSSY's] best studio tracks of the last decade and even throws in a live bonus EP taken from a blistering 2009 show at Nottingham.”NASHVILLE PUSSY hail from Atlanta, deep in the heart of “the BBQ nation” and sound like AC/DC slap boxing with LYNYRD SKYNYRD while MOTÖRHEAD watches. Formed by husband and wife guitarists Blaine Cartwright and Ruyter Suys, NASHVILLE PUSSY rose out of the ashes of Cartwright’s former band NINE POUND HAMMER in 1997. Since then they have played thousands of gigs in 40 different countries, received a Grammy nomination and toured with MOTORHEAD, ZZ TOP, LYNYRD SKYNYRD, SLAYER, and a host of other heros who became instant fans. Ruyter was recently voted one of the best female rock performers ever. Together with human metronome drummer Jeremy Thompson, NASHVILLE PUSSY have tolerated numerous labels, trends and bass players. And, when counted out, have consistently pulled off resurrections that make Jesus look like a rank amateur. The 16 studio tracks from “Ten Years Of Pussy” are taken from their last few releases, highlighting the band’s most relevant work of their decade history on label SPV. “Up The Dosage” (2014), featuring rock solid bassist Bonnie Buitrago, has been called “NASHVILLE PUSSY’s ‘Back In Black'” and was “Pick Of The Week” on “That Metal Show”. “From Hell To Texas” (2009) was recorded at Willie Nelson’s studio in Texas and featured some of the band’s strongest songwriting to date. And “Get Some” (2005), was the first SPV release and the first collaboration with Daniel Rey, and has more hooks than a hillbilly’s tackle box. And, of course, the bonus live CD includes the ultimate version of “Nutbush City Limits” with special guest Ron Heathman from THE SUPERSUCKERS on guitar.

Album:

“We are rock ‘n’ rolls’ dirty little secret—blissfully outliving musical trends we never knew existed,” says Suys. “More than ever, everyone needs to escape to a place where they can pretend they don’t give a shit, let their hair down, and get loud, sweaty, and dirty. Nashville Pussy provides that unpretentious refuge. Everyone is welcome–just don’t dress up, ’cause it’s gonna get messy.” That’s a quote by guitarist Ruyter Suys. And it’s pretty right on. Especially when we’re about to dive right into Nashville Pussy’s new record Pleased to Eat You, due out September 21 through earMUSIC Records.Gotta love that title, right? It just wouldn’t be the Pussy without their trademark humor, most certainly. Take the first song, “She Keeps Me Coming,” which is all about, you guessed it, SEX! Hello! With a line like “She’s the queen of making dead men cum,” you get the point pretty quick regarding the direction and tone of the record. This isn’t Bono and U2 looking for a Grammy; this is whiskey drinkin’, backstage bangin’, sleazy rock ‘n’ roll. And I wouldn’t have it any other way. “She Keeps Me Coming” has an almost a Reverend Horton Heat rockabilly feel to it while the second song, “We Want A War,” is straight-ahead rock, and yeah, you read that right. This isn’t metal, and Nashville Pussy have never been metal. Nor were Motörhead.Lemmy once referred to Nashville Pussy as “America’s last great rock ‘n’ roll band.” And rightly so. They’re rock and not afraid of moving and shifting around the perimeters of that genre. “Just Another White Boy” has Grand Funk written all over it, “Go Home And Die” spins a Sabbath-inspired groove while “Low Down Dirty Pig” takes a left turn into outlaw country territory that would make Hank III happy. What I truly love about Nashville Pussy and this record is their honesty. They’re sex, drugs, and rock ‘n’ roll in a politically correct, politically censored world. And I love it. It’d be too easy to write this band off as a one-trick pony. Rather, Nashville Pussy is the heart and true essence of what rock ‘n’ roll has always been about: rebellion, volume, and a big middle finger to the mainstream. Pleased To Eat You is all of this and more. It’s loud; it’s messy, and by God, it’ll rock the stink right outta you. Buy this record, I can’t stress that enough…

Album:

NASHVILLE PUSSY's "Get Some" sees the band going in an experimental direction, substituting lascivious lyrics with stories of a world in political turmoil, the plight of the homeless, and third world poverty. The AC/DC-meets-NUGENT-meets-SKYNYRD southern fried recklessness of past releases has been replaced with epic arrangements that merry modern rock with classical instrumentation. If you believe that, I've got a prime piece of contaminated real estate to sell you.On "Get Some", NASHVILLE PUSSY does what it does best: get your fat ass moving, your ears bleeding, and your taste buds craving cheap beer and whiskey. While there are a few minor differences between the new release and 2002's "Say Something Nasty", the filth and the fury that you've come to expect from the quartet are delivered by the truckload. The album's 13 tracks are designed to get drunken revelers shouting the catchy choruses to songs like "Come on Come On" at the top of their lungs (and many will be wearing outfits consisting of something along the lines of cowboy boots and a pair of raggedy Fruit-of-the-Looms). Sound-wise, the guitar tone is grittier, the rhythm section raw and natural. Though nothing that will land them on the cover of Guitar magazine, the guitar solos of husband-and-wife team Blaine Cartwright and Ruyter Suys are sleaze-drenched and full of rockin' righteousness. Cartwright's vocals take on an ALICE COOPER quality, possessing even more bad attitude than was heard on previous albums. The simple and effective choruses on tracks like the rowdy boogie shuffle of "Good Night for a Heart Attack", and the clever wordplay and hooky attack of "Hell Ain't What it Used to Be" go hand in hand with the glammy, almost melancholic sound of "Hate and Whiskey". "Nutbush City Limits" is a logical cover choice, while ending the album with a rendition of "Snowblind" from Ace Frehley's 1978 KISS solo album is unexpected and fun (the harmony vocals on the chorus sound great). So what are you looking to get out of "Get Some" anyway? Straightedge philosophy and avant-garde musicianship? Chill out and pass the Mad Dog.

Album:

Circle November 5th on your calendar as that's the date that Nashville Pussy will release their new live album, Eaten Alive, via Slinging Pig Records / MVD Entertainment Group.Coming hot off of their seventh studio album, Pleased To Eat You, Nashville Pussy returns with Eaten Alive, a ferocious hellride of a live album that is proof positive that the band is one of the best live acts ever. Recorded in the UK, this is Nashville Pussy's Live At Leeds and one of most unrelenting concert albums since Motörhead's No Sleep Til Hammersmith.Slated for release to coincide with their October / November tour with The Toadies and Reverend Horton Heat, Eaten Alive will be unleashed to the world on Slinging Pig Records, the band's very own record label. "This is the album that our fans have drunkenly demanded for years," says singer / guitarist Blaine Cartwright. "'Make an album that sounds like you guys do live!' I've heard that phrase slurred in my face in accents from all over the world," jokes Blaine. "So here it is you drunken bastards!"The mesmerizing leads of legendary guitarist Ruyter Suys leap off the grooves and grab the listener by the throat. Ruyter has been hailed with accolades since the band's inception including being named "one of the top female performers of all time" by That Metal Show. And that's just one example. Combine that with the irresistible thunderous rhythm section of bassist Bonnie Buitrago and hard hitting drummer Ben Thomas, and it makes for one of the most satisfying rock experiences ever recorded.Eaten Alive not only serves as a perfect souvenir for hundreds of thousands of lucky rock n' rollers that have seen Nashville Pussy in the 40 plus countries over past 25 years, it's also an excellent starting point for all those unfortunately yet to have been exposed to the fiery baptism of hard rock that the band delivers on a nightly basis.Nashville Pussy is ravenously looking forward to their upcoming (twice postponed) tour of Europe. It all starts with Sweden Rock with Blue Öyster Cult, and ends at Barcelona Rocks with Judas Priest two months later. In between, the band will be eating fans alive all across Europe.
