Album:

GUN are back! After winning the MTV EMA Award last November, now comes the new album "Frantic".GUN's contemporary and authentic rock has always been an advantage over their counterparts in the late 80s. In Glasgow, founded by brothers Gizzi, they came to the rock to reinvent itself. In September 2010, "Taking On The World" was listed in the Classic Rock magazine's list of the 150 Greatest debut albums of all time. And the Kerrang Magazine gave the album 5 stars, and then wrote: "The acquisition of the rock world with this album would be no real surprise," while Phil Alexander called it "... pop-rock at its finest."On their new album, there are, among other radiant »Gospel Feel Good rock and roll" like on the opener "Let It Shine" or even rough rock filled with energy and strings."We've had such a great time at the recording of this album. We believe the Gun-style in every respect more than just adequately and we hope the fans will love it, as we have just loved this album record in the studio! "

Album:

Scottish rockers GUN released their new album 'Frantic' early this year, also in a deluxe edition featuring a bonus disc with songs recorded live. But the band is presenting now a new version of the album, re-entitled "More Frantic".
"More Frantic" - a digital only release - includes all original Frantic tracks, plus 10 bonuses including the 'East End EP’ and the new single 'Every1's A Winner'.'Every1's A Winner' is one of the best tracks composed & recorded by Gun in the last two decades. It's a rocking, guitar driven hard rocker plenty of swagger and catchiness.'Idiots' is another good one in the classic early Gun style, while '100 MPH' adds some cool acoustics in a bluesy vein. There's nice live cuts too, and a better than the original 'Frantic' radion mix.Not only a fan package, I think "More Frantic" works better than the regular Frantic version as the 10 bonuses are a worthwhile addition, featuring strong songs and variation.

Album:

Dante and the boys are back. In every sense ...Although you hate to harp on about the past, sometimes there’s no choice.Take Gun for example. In the late 80s they emerged with a record called Takin’ On The Wold” which put them squarely amongst the best that British Rock had at the time. That was a golden period as well. Thunder, The Almighty, Little Angels and The Quireboys were all around, but such was the quality of the songs on the album.Real, genuine mainstream success followed too. The cover of “Word Up” appeared on the “Swagger” record (which as an aside contains one of the greatest hard rock songs ever written by a British band in “Don’t Say It’s Over”) then it all kinda ground to a halt. There were a couple of patchy albums then the inevitable break-up and reformation. Their output since they came back hasn’t quite matched up with their early material. Largely, perhaps because they weren’t ever quite sure what they wanted to be.Gun were always proud of the “pop” in their pop rock but the “Popkiller” mini-album, which featured Toby Jepson on lead vocals, was, well, a little too poppy, a trap that the most recent “Frantic” record also fell in to.Now, though, with “Favourite Pleasures” they are back – and brother, they sound like Gun again.“She Knows” punches you in the face by way of a hello, and in so doing sounds more urgent and effervescent than anything they’ve managed in years. “Here’s Where I Am” is as an unashamed a glam rock stomper as you can get and is surely made for the live arena, and if there’s a bit of a funkiness to the cheeky title track, then consider this, it’s the happiest song about S&M you’ll find anywhere. If those are the first three out of the way and all so far so good then, there is always the worry about whether it can be sustained over a full album. No such concerns here as “Take Me Down” sees Jools Gizzi cut loose on a solo that could have come straight from the 80s as if to say “yeah, its all good this time.”There is little doubt that the presence of new guitarist Tommy Gentry has breathed new life into the band – put simply they haven’t sounded as gleeful as they do on “Silent Lovers” in years. And if “Black Heart” with its strident groove is a little heavier, then it is still brilliantly well placed.“Without You In My Life” is mid-paced but builds itself up nicely – never turning into the huge ballad you almost expected. It’s not that kind of album. “Tragic Heroes” is a real highlight too, capturing the essence of what we might call the mid-paced Gun sound, and the line about “don’t trust a man who says he’ll make you rich, before you know it, you’ll have nothing to show for it…” just might be more heartfelt than most.An album that is full of three-minute rock songs has one that literally is. “Go To Hell” is 180 seconds of an angry screecher of a thing that shows the fire still burns, but oddly amongst all the bluster it is the piano based closer that really re-affirms just how good they are here.“Boy Who Fooled The World” reveals a more personal side to the band than you might expect and casts frontman Dante Gizzi as a kid listening to the radio on a Friday night and it will strike a chord with anyone who sat there with their “fingers on play and record…listening for the next big thing.”MV knows the feeling. That’s what I did. And one of the bands I discovered on the Friday Rock Show late one teenage night under the covers with a radio my gran had bought me was Gun.An album that wants to be catchy and have big old hooks you could hang things on, “Favourite Pleasures” is exactly what you want from Gun. As a result, arguably for the first time in 23 years we’ve got a great Gun album.

Album:

Scottish cult rockers GUN are releasing “R3L0ADED” a celebration of 30 years of GUN in a deluxe 2-CD package covering a selection of the band’s hit singles alongside a bonus CD of specially recorded cover versions from artists such as The Clash, Blondie, Stevie Wonder, Beastie Boys, Hot Chocolate and more, all Gun-ized of course. And the record hits stores before Gun join Dan Reed Network & FM on a nationwide trek playing their album ‘Taking On The World’ in its entirety. For many, “R3L0ADED” will be the soundtrack to a lot of good times of their youth. In 1989, Gun were taking on the world, and still are.Indeed, their album ‘Taking On The World’ really put Gun on the map. According to the band, thirty years ago their dream was simply to sign a record deal, release an album and maybe go on tour, no more than that. That’s the reason of “R3L0ADED”; their best shots into an album to say thanks to the fans and bring back some memories.“R3L0ADED” is presented as a double album with disc one featuring singles from the band’s seven albums including debut chart hit Better Days (1989), Steal Your Fire (1992), Don’t Say It’s Over (1994) and Favourite Pleasures (2017).Disc two is a collection of cover songs from the band’s favorites, which includes ‘Word Up by Cameo (1986)’, for which the band won the prestigious MTV Europe Music Award for Best Cover.Among others, Gun have recorded their own versions of ‘Every 1’s A Winner’ by Hot Chocolate (1978), ‘(You Gotta) Fight For Your Right (To Party)’ by The Beastie Boys (1986), ‘Union City Blue’ by Blondie (1979), ‘Rock The Casbah by The Clash (1982)’, and more. All rockin’ with that special Gun touch and style.

Album:

Welcome to The Calton. The Calton District in Glasgow’s East End has always been home to Jools and Dante from GUN.In their parents’ spare bedroom just a stone’s throw from Glasgow’s famous Barrowland Ballroom, the boys fashioned their songwriting skills alongside former GUN lead singer Mark Rankin. The Calton Songs is a fourteen-track celebration of GUN’s classic hits and favourites - semi-acoustic versions of what appeared through the years as full-on rock tracks. The songs feature all the current band’s line-up plus some amazing backing singing from Beverley Skeete and The Sisterhood, giving a gospel slant and an original spin to these rock classics.Barring Word Up, the other thirteen songs were inspired by the sights and sounds of The Calton.Recorded initially by Dante in the spare bedroom, the songs were completed after the lockdown situation ended in January 2022 in Glasgow’s Morsecode studios.
