The Fire is Italian hard rock band founded in 2005 by Olly of Shandon with the entire Madbones line-up.After leaving Shandon at the end of 2005, Olly joined Andre, Lou, Pelo and Alecs from Madbones with the intention of creating a new band that would break away from the sounds of the two previous projects. After initial experimentation, the whole band moved to the Netherlands for about two weeks, where they laid the foundations for their debut album Loverdrive. In late 2005 and early 2006, the band started playing live on short tours between the Netherlands and Germany, although they did not yet have a proper name (the tour was called 'Madbones featuring Olly from the Shandon').During a show in Berlin, Torsten Scholz (bassist of the Beatsteaks) asked Olly why they had not yet found a name for the band and suggested the name "The Fire", which found immediate approval and has been used permanently ever since. Between one date and another they managed to record many songs and release their debut album Loverdrive on 31 March 2006, which would also be reissued in a Christmas version with two extra tracks (Christmas Tale and Mr. Unbreakable). Almost at the same time, the Italian tour also began, alternating with foreign dates of a certain importance. In fact they have the opportunity to perform with bands of the calibre of Deep Purple, Iggy Pop & The Stooges and Kaiser Chiefs and to participate in important festivals such as Rock in Idro and Pukkelpop. Two video clips were also released to promote the album: Emily and a cover of Smalltown Boy by Bronski Beat. In the meantime, the band received its first acclaim and in May 2007, drummer Alecs was named drummer of the month.At the end of 2007, Andre left the band for personal reasons. The band temporarily replaced him for live performances with Davide, singer and guitarist of The Unders. In November 2008, guitarist Filippo Dallinferno joined the band permanently. Work on the second album in the meantime was put on hold due to record problems, and in spring 2009 the Electro Cabaret EP was released, containing six tracks. The record will be sold at concerts and through the band's official website at a price at the discretion of individual fans. At the end of 2009, the second album Abracadabra was released, first in Germany and then in Italy and other European countries. Meanwhile the tour continues and The Fire play support to Alice Cooper in Germany and to Gotthard for a short tour in Switzerland. On 22 June 2010, the video clip for Scars was released.While waiting for the third album to be completed, the second EP Madama Butterfly was released in June 2011, also consisting of six tracks, including the acoustic version of Scars. In early 2012, The Fire collaborated on a new version of Enrico Ruggeri's Prima Del Temporale, singing it and recording it with him on the Milanese singer's album Le canzoni ai testimoni. On 26 November 2012, the third album Supernova was released, anticipated by the single Follow Me (feat. Alteria). Meanwhile, Alecs, who due to work commitments could not guarantee full availability for the tour, was temporarily replaced by Francesco (drummer of Continual Drift),who also appears in the video clip of Paralyzed, released on 7 January 2013.With a Facebook post on 5 October 2015, The Fire announced an indefinite stop. Olly Riva and Alecs will continue their career together with the Shandon reunion.

The Fire have already been an established band on the Italian scene for several years, since they have been on the scene since 2005 and have at least four or five albums between LPs and EPs behind them. As if that wasn't enough, let me remind you that their ranks include Olly ex-Shandon and members of Madbones, a small slice of Italian punk rock history. Ammonia Records released the EP 'Bittersweet' (on the cover we have Francesca Du Demon, Olly's wife), in which they set out to put on record the least suitable and most peculiar pieces, which would not usually have ended up on a full album precisely because they were unconnected and had no real common thread, but which seem to work well here. There are six tracks in all for a total of twenty minutes, with a few covers such as 'Roxanne' by the Police and 'Dr Rock' by Motorhead, adding also 'Train In Vain' by the Clash, which has already appeared on the compilation 'P.G.A. Italian Punks Go Acoustic' compilation; originals remain 'Bittersweet', 'She's The One' and the more tristone 'Lonely Hearts', which differ a little from The Fire's known sound, embracing also 80s sounds and Bon Jovi. This EP will be released on 30 September and if you're a fan of The Fire and everything around there, go for it with your eyes closed.
