Stage Dolls is a Norwegian hard rock band based in Trondheim, Norway. In 1982, Erlend Antonsen and Terje Storli played at local clubs in and around Trondheim. In need of a guitarist they called on Torstein Flakne, who by then had finished playing in The Kids (a popular teeny-band in Norway 1980-82). Throughout the summer and fall of 1982 the newly formed band started rehearsing and playing shows in the region. The trio took the name Stage Dolls in January 1983. The first album, titled Soldier's Gun, was released in the early winter of 1985 after a successful nationwide tour in Norway supporting the Norwegian band TNT.Antonsen left the band in 1985 and was replaced by Steinar Krokstad; he in turn left in 1993 and was replaced by Morten Skogstad.The recordings for their next album Commandos started in the fall 1985. It peaked at no.8 in the Norwegian charts (VG) and set the band up as one of the most popular rockbands in Norway in 1986. The album was released in the US by Big Time Records and the title track Commandos gained considerable airplay on college-radio.The self-titled third album was recorded in the fall of 1987. It made it to the top of the charts in Norway, and in 1989 the band released the album on Chrysalis Records for the American market. The single "Love Cries" went to number 46 on the Billboard Singles Charts the same year. A second single for the song "Still in Love" was also released in America.

Stage Dolls is the third studio album by Norwegian hard rock band Stage Dolls. Like the first two albums, it was also recorded in Trondheim, Norway, using the same producer, Bjørn Nessjø, and engineer, Rune Nordahl.The album was released in the United States in 1989 by Chrysalis Records, Inc. The single "Love Cries" went to number 46 on the Billboard Singles Charts, and "Wings of Steel" went to number 10 in Norway.The album itself peaked at number 3 on the album charts in Norway.It was certified gold disc in Norway.1987 was spent on the road,taking time off in the fall to go into the studio to record their next album.Torstein had met the songwriter/musician Bobby Icon on a trip to the US in 1986 and they quickly got together writingwise,setting up the songs for the album “Stage Dolls. This was to be Stage Dollsmost successful record so far,taking them to the top of the charts in Norway as well as sending them to the U.S. and the rest of Europe. Hits in Norway with both “Still in love” and “Wings of steel” made it into a platinum album there. In 1989,the band signed a deal with Chrysalis Rec. for the American market.They went over to the States that summer and promoted their single “Love crieswhich went top 3 in the “Album Rock Chartsand no.46 in the Billboard Singles Charts. Touring comprised headlining their own gigs,and also together with other bands,as Faster Pussycat,Warrant,Blue Murder.

Stripped is the fourth studio album by Norwegian hard rock band Stage Dolls.Back in Europe by 1990, they quickly turned to record their fourth album.This was to be called “Stripped” and the band wanted in fact to strip the sound down,bringing more air around it. The result was remarkable. “Stripped” contains probably Torstein”s best song so far, “Love don”t bother me”. After recording the song in Trondheim they took it to the U.S. where top producer Ron Nevison together with singer/songwriter Mark Spiro also put their mark on it. The rest of the year was spent on the road.In Europe they toured with Mister Big, having a real good time with probably the nicest band in the world.The stage Dolls are a very different kind of classic 80s rock band. Unlike their previous album which boasted heavier rock ballards with a more 80s style stadium rock sound, this album took on a more funky, acoustic approach.The main problem with this, is that it has about 5 seriously amazing songs, and the rest aren't really anything special.They lack the more atmospheric heavier rock sound and well placed dynamic guitar solos that were found in the first one. The really amazing songs such as 'living in America' and 'love don't bother me' are great to sing along to, they are intelligently lyricised and the production and mixing just add to the atmosphere of emotion that makes this album so good. It is worth buying just for these songs, and because the rest of the songs aren't that bad, but could've have been better.

This album was recorded at Brygga Studio & Nidaros Studios, Trondheim during spring '97.Universal Music Japan did it again, a new campaign of their ‘HR/HM 1000‘ series – the Limited Release reissue of long time out of print albums from their Hard Rock / Heavy Metal catalog at the price of 1000 Yen = about 9 USD.Now it’s time for the second 2022 batch, ”HR-HM 1000 Vol.5”. And as part of these there’s the out of print “Dig“, by Norwegian melodic rock wonders STAGE DOLLS.It was 1997, and fortunately ignoring trends, STAGE DOLLS delivered here one of the best AOR / Melodic Rock albums from the second half on the Nineties. While ‘Commandos’ has that lovely mid-Eighties sound, and self-titled ‘Stage Dolls’ that unrepeatable atmosphere, “Dig” is the band’s most complete recording.There’s exquisite refrains, smooth choruses, elegance in arrangements… “Dig” has it all.After a Greatest Hits album and touring Europe, the band took a break as Torstein Flakne not only continued with his songwriting providing songs for others like Morten Harket of a-ha or Danish singer Sanne Salomonsen, but he also made an solo album, “Shoot the moon”, in 1995.For the recording of “Dig”, a new member was added, Morten Skogstad on drums. The album produced the classic “Run when it’s Over” and the Scandi radio hit “Good times. The title track rocks, and songs like ”Ain’t seen you” and “Queens” are highlights.

It peaked at no.8 in the Norwegian charts (VG) and set the band up as one of the most popular rockbands in Norway in 1986. The album was released in the US by Big Time Records and the title track Commandos gained considerable airplay on college-radio.The self-titled third album was recorded in the fall of 1987. It made it to the top of the charts in Norway, and in 1989 the band released the album on Chrysalis Records for the American market. The single "Love Cries" went to number 46 on the Billboard Singles Charts the same year. A second single for the song "Still in Love" was also released in America.

The last Stage Dolls studio album titled ‘Always’ appeared in 2010, but since then the band has been recording and releasing singles.We made this compilation titled “The New & The Rare” some time ago, and now has been requested again.
